Has anybody seen any good deals on laptops ??? I am looking for one for my son with the following rough spec; i7 CPU prefered 8GB RAM or more HDD 500GB 7200 rpm or more (possible SSD) Wifi N 2.4ghz DVD RW 15" screen or more (depends on price) He would like to play some games on it but nothing to major so really as good as can be would be great.

HI Everyone, We have just had a quote for the new Lexia Reading v10 software and the price was quite scary to be honest, can anybody recommend an alternative to Lexia to aid with SEN children that have reading difficulties. We do also have Dyslexia Screener but that does not offer the reports and detailed analysis that Lexia does, if we end up having to purchase it then so be it but it would be nice to explore all avenues first.

We have a Dell PowerEdge T110 at school and about a month ago one of the 2tb hard drives dies, it was sent away and replaced under warranty. I replaced the hard drive when it arrived and am 99% sure I converted it to a dynamic disk and set the mirror off over the weekend, I was looking at the server today and noticed that only one of the two drives is showing and its a basic disk not a dynamic disk. I restarted the server after school today and looked at the SAS controller which shows the drive as being there but it does not show in Windows Server 2008 R2. Is there anything I have to do to the SAS controller etc although I am sure it was there before but can't be certain.

I am after a few suggestions please, we are a large primary school and have 2 main halls (KS1 & KS2), The KS2 hall has all the goodies, wireless microphones, mixing desk, top of the range amp and speakers etc. As this hall is well equipped its always in constant use and difficult for the KS1 side of the school to get access to so KS1 have now asked if they can have some sort of system installed but not quite at that level. We had a local AV installer come and have a look who recommended the following; Denon Amp PMA720 Denon CD DCD720 2 Pairs B&W Speakers 686 1 Mic Pre Amp We don't need anything major over there but if were going to put something in I want to be sure its worth the money, can anybody recommend any other amps, cd players, network media players or excellent speakers please so I can make KS1 happy.

I wonder if someone could help please, I have 3 lenovo E530 Laptops, two of them are running W7x86 and the other W7x64 all of them have the latest driver on them but we seem to have an issue that when we tell it to auto connect, it thinks about it then connects but bounces back to manual again ??? I cant seem to get my head round it, on the Dell Latitude laptops it seems to work fine is this a driver issue or a problem with Promethean and Lenovo ???

There only offering projectors and whiteboards, old hat technology I really want to come away from these as there a thing of the past.

Hi everyone, I am about to purchase some LED touchscreens and have been offered 65" screens for a really good price as follows; Interactive Touch Screen - G Touch 65" The company have been and showed us them working but a lot smaller version, does anybody have any experience of them, are they any good ?? also we will be looking to still use active inspire so will have to purchase the licences for each one but when it runs on the screen will it show the message saying promethean hardware not detected, or am I right in thinking that is only part of the driver which will not be needed. Any suggestions for other screens around the same size would be greatly appreciated, or even opinions of the various screens.

As the title suggests I am looking for a good USB kvm to connect 3 machines to, I tried one many moons ago and it was rubbish does anybody have a good one they could recommend before I go off and buy the first one I see.

Its not a port I plan on keeping open, after setting up it would be enabled when required and disabled when not required, I can see where the settings are in the dashboard just not 100% on the settings required.

Could somebody please point me in the right direction, we are currently having a new telephone system installed and the company asked for an internal IP and our public IP, no problem I gave them the details and made a reservation in DHCP. All went well and the system is now up and running but they may need to connect remotely and have asked to create a port forwarding rule so when the connect to the public IP it sends them through to the telephone system, the system is the UTM 1000 and as I have never had to do it before I am in the dark a little. Any help would be greatly appreciated please.

Has anybody had any problems with MDT 2012 and Windows 8 ??? I have tried capturing an image today and for some reason it wont do it, I have done it exactly the same way as I did Windows 7 and that worked fine, the error list is just gobbledegook and does not point to any thing in particular. I did at first wonder if it was an issue with the hybrid drive but like I said Windows 7 worked fine ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

I have recently wiped my laptop of Windows 7 to install 8 as some of my teacher have requested it so thought I would have a look at it myself, all seemed to be going fine until today I seem to have lost the ability to right click on an icon on the desktop to unpin it ??? It was working ok a couple of days ago, the only difference that has happened since is that the laptop has been connected to the domain now, anybody have any ideas how to get round this.

It looks like I have no choice but to do that, just really disappointed that they can't give me any reason why we shouldn't be able to access the test data, I have asked Capita for 2 things now and both have been a flat NO and as our authority does not support the schools we cant get it through them so you would think going direct to Capita would resolve this but no, once again take the money and not let you have anything back.

Has anybody got a copy of the latest database I could snaffle please, I want to do a bit of testing with various things and wanted to use the test data, the answer I got back from Capita is that its only available to LEA's and third part support agencies, not to the likes of us it would seem who get support direct from Capita, I might as well go elsewhere for support and then maybe I could have the test data. Honestly they want us to use there systems but are not prepared to give us the option to test properly.

I am just wondering which products everyone has tried and what good and what's not, In my position I am term time only +4 weeks so have all of the summer holidays off with the exception of the last week, as some of the staff will be in over the holidays and I will be away quite a bit I wont be available should there be an issue. I was thinking I would be able to take my laptop with me with some sort of Mifi connection to allow me to connect to school, I should say I will be in a caravan so will have an electric connection. Has anybody found these to be any good, what sort of speeds do they produce and which is the best value for money ???

2010 R3, I am led to believe that with IDR it contains a record of the catalogued tapes so it can restore automatically.

OK I have just found out that IDR is not included in quickstart edition even though it is there as a 60 day trial, I also have a licence for BE2012 so might see if its included in that rather than upgrade 2010. Anybody had any experience with 2010 is it any different ???

I tried this but the problem is that the option to catalogue the tapes is greyed out and it wont let me do it, I also install IDR as part of the 60 day trial but that doesn't appear either.

Thanks for that I wasn't aware of the DR disk, will have a go at it in the morning.

Anybody have any links to doing a full system recover with BE 2010, I would like t check that the DR plan actually works.

So I had a bit of time on my hands today and thought I would have a go at disaster recovery procedures using a spare server I have lying around, I installed 2008 R2 then installed backup exec 2010 R3, all was going well a media set was created and the tape ran its inventory fine, but when I went to catalogue the tape its all greyed out and wont let me no matter what I do, If I run the restore procedure it says I have to catalogue the tape first....am I missing something ???

Automatic would be nice, i will have a look at the site when i get home and hav a play.
