  1. No, The drive had 100gb free space. we were doing updates and it got stuck at 99%. we stopped updates and rebooted.. after that wsus got stuck at loading. didn't work for 2 weeks.. deleted the wsus cache from all users.. no fix.. finally went into the clean up wizard. it took about 28 hours for it to clean up but when it did, wsus started working again. Went ahead and approved a bunch of updates and they all installed just fine.
  2. got it fixed.. i started wsus and went to the clean up wizard. this process took about 28 hours to complete but when it did, wsus is working again. last night it grabbed 38 updates and i approved them this morning. I normally only approve every 2 weeks but i'm wanting to make sure it's working again. thanks all..
  3. if by cache you mean %allusers%/application data/microsoft/mmc/wsus... i've already deleted that and restarted wsus. all services are running but just in case i restarted them. server has been rebooted twice and still no joy. how hard is it exactly to uninstall and reinstall it. how would i go about making sure all files associated with it are gone.. just don't see how stopping an update caused all of this.
  4. I did not set up our wsus server but it has been running just fine for several years until very recently. it was grabbing a bunch of updates and became stuck. i let it run for a while before canceling it out then applying the updates.. after it had installed updates the server needed rebooting which i did. server came back online just fine and all seemed good until i tried to load wsus. it seems to stick at loading, when you click on synchronization it stays at zero. after about 3 minutes, it will flash up a screen that it cannot connect to the wsus server, reset server node or copy to clipboard. i started the sql manager and can connect to the internal microsoft sql database.forgot to mention, this wsus in on this server computer.. all on same computer.
  5. I have SBS 2003 and have had WSUS working for years now. last week i had approved some updates and all seemed to go well. the update got to 99 percent and stayed there, never did finish. hours later i decided to cancel it and let the updates that it had go through. the server updated just fine and I had to reboot. Now my WSUS will not load.. i get the control box to open and it say's loading and just stays there..after about 3 minutes it will say that it could not connect to server and wants me to "reset nodes" or "cancel". I've gone through several thing to try and fix this. Deleted the wsus in application files, made sure it has permissions. the wsus server services are running and the webpage is running but i can't get to it through my web browser : server/wsusadmin . it just comes up 404 not found. whenever i go to the mmc console and click on options, it tells me that it's still applying a previous change and can't save any changes. I'm lost as to what to do, I've googled till my fingers hurt.. any ideas..
  6. My names Jeff and I'm a new network administrator of a small company, 50 computers. I have no formal computer training, all self taught. There's not too much about any windows versions that don't know about. thought this server software would be in the same boat, boy was i wrong. it's a steep learning curve but i'm making it along just fine. I try to not go into AD too often, I check my backups almost daily. Most of our problems are with users not knowing what they're doing. clicking things they shouldn't be clicking. I have joined several forums for some additional help when i start to feel i'm over my head. Google is my best friend but it's good to have others seeing how Google is kinda stuck on himself.
