  1. That should be an option to lock computer after X number of minutes with options such as "if in fullscreen app do not lock". I did this a few years ago and I don't remember having any difficulty making it.
  2. Happy 15k general chat!

  3. What's your favorite font at work and at home? Mine's Arial for work and Helvetica at home
  4. This is worth a read if you're an avid chrome user. I've learned so much, I usually read 4 or 5 tips a day 100 Awesome Google Chrome Tips and Tricks! – Chrome Story
  5. Will closing a session in computer management log the client user out? Or will it just close out the log/event that's kept in computer management> shared folders> sessions? Thanks
  6. Doing a favor for a family member, since I'm the only member in the family who knows anything about technology so I figured I would give it a go. They need to make a college admission video. I need to edit a few parts, ad subtitles for a few parts, cut a few parts short and merge about 6 clips together. I also filmed everything in 1920x1080 30fps. What (free software) would you suggest I use to edit?
  7. This is the best post ever on the history of this website. Many thanks will be given today.
  8. yea, pretty dead though. not much to do.
  9. I would suggest this as well.
  10. For your reading pleasure Windows XP 'still used by three quarters of UK businesses' - Tech News - Digital Spy I know, I know... I'm an American and have no business in caring about this but I remember a few months ago we had a poll of whos work place was still running XP/Vista/7/8 and I'm pretty sure 3/4 were all running Windows 7 throughout their Schools. I searched for the thread but couldn't find it Reason I'm so interested is because I felt like I was the only one who was still behind on the times. I have about 300/500 machines running on XP at my main school About 150/500 running 7 another 25/500 running 8 and another 25/500 OSX/Linux I've been looking to build a report for the school board of the importance of bringing things up to date and figured I would share the article and see if anyone remembers the poll and would be kind enough to link it here.
  11. Good find, but I originally intended for home/family/friends use not so much school. Mostly why I put it in general.
  12. @speckytecky of course there are paid versions except for a few like (as far as I know) Rkill, TDS, CF, JRT and MSE but the free versions that I listed still get the job done just without the bells and whistles. I actually use Malwarebytes free for removing viruses on client machines but at home I use the pro version. They both detect and remove viruses/malware but the only difference is the pro version automatically and actively removes malware and monitors incoming and outgoing data.
  13. It's possible but to time consuming and to much risk for me.
  14. If you could only take 10 programs with you to to clean up a few computers you know are out of date and are overflowing with Junkware and Adware with the possibility of Malware? They don't have to be free but all of mine are and marked accordingly. I found that these 10 can pull just about any computer out of a shit storm. 1. CCleaner (Free) 2. ComboFix (Free) 3. Junk Ware Removal Tool - JRT (Free) 4. Malwarebytes (Free) 5. rkill (Free) 6. Kaspersky TDSKiller tool (Free) 7. Microsoft Security Essentials (Free) 8. Super Anti Spyware (Free) 9. Garies Utilities (Free) 10. ADWCleaner (Free)
  15. Is there a program I can run to list all or most network Computer Names/IPs (on win7&XP) and also list the user name logged on the device. I usually Use Computer Management > Shared Folders > Sessions but with recent traffic on the server that uses computer management I'm running into issues were it's not available to me. Wondering if there is an alternative I can run from another network computer or server to list the info I need. I know there are ways to list all active computers but I also need current logged in users listed as well. I really could use some help on this one. thanks
  16. Never. Buying major software from a small companies is a big NO in my personal experience. I bought CS4 Photoshop and Illustrator from a known website with good reviews on cnet and google. After the purchase I received an email instantly saying they no longer have the Digital Download version and said "we'll send you a cd and product key in 4-5 days." 5 days later a blank white cd in an Xbox 360 game case showed up. Popped the CD in and it was cs4 master collection with strict instructions on how to activate it. (aka apply the crack). Will never buy software from a 3rd party retailer again. I suggest sticking with Amazon or Microsoft. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=visio%202013&sprefix=visio+20%2Caps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Avisio%202013 http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio/visio-professional-2013-free-trial-flowchart-software-FX103791368.aspx
  17. What are some of the things you need to install? Are we talking about applications as in the whole CS6 collection or something just like Google Chrome and a few educational programs?
  18. I was looking into Nero but after reading all the poor reviews and reading about how much trouble it causes for a Network Administrator I turned away from it. I ended up using GoPro studio and VLC media player instead.
  19. I ran into the exact same issue you're having right now about 2 months ago. After about 3 days solid of looking into it I came to the conclusion that mdm is the best and I'm pretty sure only way. If it's less than 60 surfaces I would also consider doing it manually. It may go faster than you think.
  20. Have you tried here yet? Sony : VGC-VA1 updates | Download updates for VGC-VA1 Side note, VGC-VA1 is a European only. Not sure what the american equivalent is but you may be able to find a generic driver of the American version and it may work. Something worth looking into.
  21. Yehrp Yehrp, teh one who made the iPood and iPhuck and scammed the lower IQ population into buying overpriced derpbook pros.
  22. Teacher all like "I is has noh capsis lock, I has best larptop in world. I lurve Appleh" Then teacher proceeds to pull out the laptop and shows the class this
  23. So it started as me making an Auto Hot Key script for a Teacher and one thing lead to another and ended up with this. It's essentially a program that contains just a bunch of easy access shortcuts to server side locations that contain Help Documents and Installers as well as direct shortcuts to internet explorer. It also includes a few scripts to automatically do things such as restart the computer in X amount of time or automatically do IP Release/Renew. It's far from finished and could still use a lot of work but I've put a ton of time into it and figured I would share it out. You can copy and paste it into a txt file and then save as a .AHK file, then once finished you can convert it to an exe. I made a lite version that runs only on the client side as oppose to the full version. Here are some screenshots I took. For security reasons I blocked out personal/school info out in blue. app - Imgur like I said this was made using autohotkey language, it's a super easy and super basic to pick up on. If you want the script please private message me and I will also include more information on it and where to get started. It will be in the form of a generic template and background visuals not included so you will need to make you're own or leave it blank. Update 1: I will not send the app in a file, I will give you a link to paste bin for you to look over it and save it how you want.
