All printers are evil and cursed. I'd agree about the laser - I was reasonably impressed with those HP 32xx in school offices, but at home we've been abusing an Epson devil-in-one workforce 4725 for about 6 years as we do a fair amount of copying and scanning as well as printing. Small footprint, quick, quiet, double sided, network, autofeed scanner and reasonable quality colour prints. Because Mrs. SH prints test artwork on it as well we use the original cartridges and bear the horrendous cost as the compatibles aren't quite as good and do fade. Mrs SH does also have the Epson 3880 A2 Giant Evil Printer ™ which although producing stunning quality prints is a bit more steampunk and not exactly a home printer

Ooh, another Microsoft "feature." I still it baffling how things that work perfectly since dinosaur times (1990's) get suddenly broken and then just left like that.

We have loads of robins about at the moment. There's one nesting in our toolshed. I'd been pottering about in there for half an hour before I even noticed. I can't not go in there sometimes, but leave some bird food on the side for it and it dosen't seem bothered. If I try to sit on the bench they turn up demanding food now! Sometimes 3 at once which surprised me as I thought they were quite territorial.

Linux Mint. I have ways to do everything I want, sometimes using the Wine Windows emulator. I really don't like the hot mess of Windows 10, and 11 even less. It's also kept my mind busy learning something a bit different!

Well, there's a turnup for the books! The boringmobile passed it's MOT again with a few more rust advisories (coil springs, all suspensions arms, 2 shocks, brake pipe nuts, etc). It lives to fight another year. I can't believe it'll get through the next one but I think I've had my money's worth; £4,500 in 2014.

Yes, it's a bit of a yawnbox and even ULEZ exempt so it would sell well darn sarf. My first cars were all old MGB's /midgets which were great fun to drive but you could almost see the rust growing if you stared hard at them. They were a good way to learn car maintenance, whether you liked it or not, typically on a cold, wet night. *Warning @mikeprice anecdote coming up* The starter motor failed on the midget and I couldn't afford a recon unit 'til payday, so I got really good at bump starting it by scooting along and jumping in to bump it. Except one time I tripped and it gently ran off the road onto a patch of grass. Luckily no harm done except to my pride, and a couple of laughing blokes helped me get it back on the tarmac.

I'm in the same situation with the Stealth Taxi ™ aka Totota Avensis. It's now over 18 years old and although it's only done around 90,00 miles it is having increasing rust and mechanical problems. I don't have a garage space although I've done simple repairs myself. It was great when I was working, as the boot could swallow a server room's worth of kit, an IT Suite including children and a laptop trolley, but I don't really need such a cavernous beast now. The MOT is next month and I reckon it may finally go from advisory rust to hard fail. Paid £3,500 with a trade in 2014 so I've had my money's worth! Kind of looking forward to getting a smaller car.
