Hi guys/gals, Forgive me for the probably daft question but i am fresh off of an apprenticeship and still not too knowledgeable... This morning a user came to me and asked to have a shared folder to be set up just for her and one other user due to confidential info tht will be stored there. I have tried putting a new folder on te servers public drive and setting the security in properties to give the 2 users control but deny all others, how ever i had a message pop up telling me that if they are denied in the staff section yet allowed for just they're account they will still be denied access. Could anyone help me out with making one folder in the public drive that no one but 2 specific users can get access to. Thanks a tonne in advance!

Hey guys and gals. Im hoping this will be an obvious and easy fix that one of you knows... Recently i have set up a new bath of teacher laptops via cloning ad everything has been going great, no problems with any of them except one where you cannot paste anything into word from the internet (pasting print screens works though how ever). And word will not activate, when ever i try to activate it with a triple checked valid license key a box flashes up before the screen where you enter the key even appears saying: "A communication error has occurred. Please veify that you have connectivity to the internet and try again. (0x80072efd)" Any and all help is appreciated!

Good afternoon Edugeeks! I am hoping someone can help me with this problem as it has been getting the better of me for 3 days now... One of our staff laptops no longer allows me to add either of our curriculum network photocopiers, when i try to add via devices and printers i get a window pop up with the following: "Connect to printer Windows cannot connect to printer operation failed with error 0x00000002." Yet when i add one via IP address it works fine. Any and all help is appreciated

At the moment at home and work i am running windows 7 pro but i have lots of people at work commenting on they're home PC/Laptop with windows 8 some good some bad. And i was wondering if anyone has tried 8.1 yet and if they could tell me if they think its work upgrading (just for home). All i use my PC for is browsing and casual gaming... Mostly Battlefield 3. In case anyone knows of any problems with hardware so far, my home specs are: I5 3570k @stock speed 8Gb corsair vengeance 1600Mhz HD7850 2GB MSI TwinFrozr III @1010Mhz P8Z77V-LX Motherboard (wont list anything else as its all standard stuff) Thanks guys and gals.

Problem solved, i did exactly what i originally stated in blue quotes however this time i set the policy to load the wallpaper from a file in the local C drive and hey presto... worked! Thanks for your help however.

I have tried to deploy the wallpapers to the domain users desktop using the following quote but to no avail. Could anyone suggest how i could get the wallpapers up... I can imagine the staff would be pleased with a nice christmassy background at this time of the year. "1. Create a OU and put all users that you want to set the wallpaper into it on domain. 2. Create a share folder and grant everyone has full control permission on it and put the wallpaper picture into this share. 3. Create a GPO, navigate to User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Desktop\Active Desktop \Active Desktop Wallpaper Set this item enable and in the wallpaper name column, input the share path that we created in step 2, for example \\servername\share\picture.jpg After finishing, please click OK to confirm. 4. Hey, me and my line manager are looking to upgrade the ram in our Dell Poweredge T610 and our Dell Poweredge T410, We know we need 10600 ECC registered ram and we are looking to get two 4GB sticks and put one in each machine. Hi, i have been searching online for a bit now and i don't know whether i am looking for the wrong thing but a cannot seem to be able to find anything that tells me how to deploy backgrounds to client side machines using group policy on windows server 2008, could anyone enlighten me please? As is a lot of the machines on our admin network have blank black backgrounds and the users cannot change the backgrounds themselves. Thanks.
