I'm finding myself pretty much agreeing with this guys review. It's kinda buggy/janky, the graphics are devicedly average, the PC port is a bit shoddy, the control setup on mouse/keyboard is rubbish and, so far it isn't much improved over what Skyrim offered 4 years ago in terms of the game engine and features. It does feel like Bethesda were just playing it a bit too safe and haven't really moved things on much. However, it's Fallout and a Bethesda open world RPG so I'm still really enjoying it

Played it for a couple of hours earlier today and it's fairly entertaining. The presentation is fantastic in terms of visuals and audio. They seem to have streamlined the game down from the other battlefield ones to make it more focussed on action with less downtime. It does feel like it could get pretty repetitive very quickly though but maybe some of the other levels will be more vehicle focussed to add a bit of variety. Plus the initial mission list give the impression that the full game only comes with 7 levels which is worrying. I'm getting the feeling EA is planning releasing multiple chargeable mission expansion packs aplenty to bleed their customers dry over the longer term! Quite impressed with it overall though from the short time I've spent playing it.

That was one point I'm not sure about. I'd read reports that the Surface pro 4 was going to be passively cooled but it looks like there is a cooling fan inside it so given the same CPU range presumably the Surface Book will also have one in the tablet section? That's a pretty decent battery life overall if the reports are to be believed. I think I also heard that the 'tablet' part has 3 hours of battery life on it's own without the base. If the CPU is in the tablet and the GPU in the keyboard dock does that mean both parts will require their own separate cooling fans?

I'm intrigued to try out the Surface Book when it arrives in store as it's a pretty novel sounding concept. It seems like a good strategy whereby MS positions itself building high end 'reference' hardware and then leaves it to the OEMs to take it to the mainstream. Kind of similar to the approach Google takes with their Nexus range of devices. At least now it feels like Microsoft is taking the lead in showing OEM's where it wants to go with Windows 10 which should make for a better experience all round. I'd definitely be interested in buying a Surface Book, or a similar convertible device, as now if feels like the finally have the "tablet that can replace your laptop" they've been promising us for years even if it is basically just a laptop

I actually decided to order both of the new Chromecast devices as I have an old TV without smart functionality and an old hi-fi which would be handy being able to stream to via wireless! I never used the previous one but seeing as the new model is only £30 it seems like a bargain for the functionality it offers and should breathe life back into some old kit I haven't been able to use for a while. They finally have support for Spotify now as well though I'm actually surprised it wasn't already available since it seems a no brainer for something like the Chromecast? Not sure why its taken them so long to offer an app? Edit: Sounds like they were working on developing their own steaming tech called Spotify Connect and presumably saw Chromecast as a direct competitor. Understandably now Google have actually released a Chromecast Audio streaming device! I guess they were probably worried about people moving to Apple Music so decided they need to offer the functionality.

I couldn't blame you for opting for the 6P, if you're happy with the larger form factor, as the specs are better than the 5X in pretty much every way and it's only £80 more than the equivalent 32Gb Nexus5X. Keen on the Nexus 5X but want to see some reviews and feedback before ordering.

Likewise, I'm gonna stick with Spotify for now. I think Apple music only really makes sense if you're so committed to the Apple ecosystem that the convenience of it outweighs the negatives. Spotify is just straight up better at this point in time IMO plus it means not having to faff about with iTunes. Apple music might become more compelling in future if they expand the service to include subscriptions for video and gaming content though.

As others have suggested I've probably look at Microsoft and Google's Office365/GAFE cloud offerings first as these are largely free to education and offer much more than just online storage. At least that way you can look to bundle the school's email,storage and content delivery platforms under one roof.

Loads of cool sounding features coming with the Horizons expansion by the sounds of it. I really hope they can flesh out some of the mission scenarios as the current range is a bit limited. They could do with more random encounters whilst flying around between places. Maybe something like finding that a space station is being raided by pirates or other similar scripted scenarios to keep things fresh as the missions can get pretty repetitive. I'd hate to see Frontier end up trying to diversify the game by adding things like planetary landings and in game avatars if it's at the expense of spending the time focussing on some of the core aspects of the game like the mission structures and the randomly generated encounters. I've still pre-ordered it anyway as Horizons sounds awesome and there's nothing else quite like Elite: Dangerous out there at the moment!

Saw the new movie about the Kray Twins (Legend) last night. It would have been pretty forgettable but Tom Hardy's performance was so entertaining he pretty much carried the entire movie by himself. His portrayal of Ronnie Kray in particular was genius and made for some fantastic moments! I wouldn't suggest rushing to the cinema to see it but worth catching once it's out on DVD/Netflix/Tv.

How does allocating Apps directly to devices work in practice? Every time I've been on an iPad I've found they pretty much refuse to work at all until you add an Apple ID to them? Do you need to allocate the apps using configurator or are they deployed via MDM platforms which mange the IOS devices?

Yeah, the Nexus 5 is shaping up to be pretty good from what I've seen. Still a lot of debate even at this late stage on exactly what the final specs will be.... The galaxy s6 looks fairly decent but I'm wary of Samsungs TouchWiz UI and it's very pricey. The Moto X (2014) caught my eye as it's on sale just now for £240 but I think I'd be better off holding out for a Nexus 5 given it's only another month away.

The Moto X Style looks decent as well but I didn't like the fact it was even larger than the already pretty big Moto X Play. Plus it comes with a 1440p screen which to me is an unnecessary addition that will simply drain the battery quicker and tax the CPU more heavily for very little benefit. 1080p looks fine on a 5" device IMO. It's also £100 cheaper than the style and, as you mentioned, the battery is smaller despite it presumably being a more power hungry device. The only thing I'm slightly less keen on is that the X play comes with a Snapdragon 610 CPU, an Adreno 405 GPU and 2Gb RAM versus the more powerful Snapdragon 808 / Adreno 418 / 3Gb RAM on the Style. The camera's also slightly better and capable of 4k video IIRC. I'm not really au fait with mobile CPU's and GPU's having only used iPhones for the past 8 years. Would the lesser specs of the Play make for a noticeable difference to anything in practical terms right now? There's still the 2015 LG Nexus, which is the other phone I'm keen on, as well though I don't think we've had confirmation or any really solid leaks on its' final spec yet. The Moto X Play which is out next month looks like another potential alternative to the Nexus 5. Moto X Play Screen size is a little on the large side at 5.5" but they've done a decent job at getting rid of the bezel so its dimensions aren't too crazy. I like the fact Motorola seem to be sticking with mostly stock Android on their phones these days as well. The 3600Mah battery should, in theory, give it class leading run-time as well. Has anyone had any experience with recent Motorola phones?

Saw Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation last night. It thought it was pretty poor and I'm surprised at all the positive reviews online about it. The plot was throwaway and the dialogue and characters uninteresting. Some of the action scenes were pretty well done but not enough to make up for everything else and the film was way too long despite there being virtually no plot worth speaking of! One to avoid IMO.

I'm still kind of in two minds about whether to go for another iPhone or not. On the one hand I really like IOS in terms of it's ease of use, stability and clean/clear interface design plus the build quality of the hardware itself is fantastic. However in a lot of ways I dislike the way Apple try to push you towards buying more Apple hardware/software in their own eco-system plus their online/web platforms are really second rate compared to what Google are offering. Given the Nexus 5 has been out for a couple of years I'd thought they'd be cheap to buy now but even second had they still seem to be going for around £150. I'm probably as well waiting to see what the 2015 one is like based on that but recent Nexus devices haven't been the bargains they used to be so I suspect It'll be around £300-400 at launch? I'm not a fan of phablets which is a shame as there are some fantastic deals to be had on the Nexus 6 at the moment. Seems to be the same with any OS really a few years down the line. Android certainly isn't immune from it as since upgrading to lollipop 5 the general performance on my tegra 3 based Nexus 7 (2012) tablet is shockingly slow. I think with any mobile device you have to be realistic and assume that it'll only really last 3-4 years before you need to think about replacing it if you want to keep the software up to date and run the latest apps. I guess there's always Windows 10 mobile which is out shortly but I don't really see it garnering enough market share to convince app developers to start adopting it whereas Android/IOS are a pretty safe bet for third part support given their popularity. I actually had a Windows mobile 5.0 device about a decade ago before going IOS but I can't see me ever going back to Windows Mobile/Phone despite Windows being my preferred desktop OS. In fact most anecdotes Ive heard have been from people moving from android to iPhone saying that they'd never switch back again! Anyone moved from an iPhone back to Android and stayed there?

I've stuck with IOS since I bought an iPhone 3G in 2008 and my moved onto my current iPhone 4S when it was released. The 4s is starting to get a bit long in the tooth and is running slowly plus the battery has seen better days. Also, I'm increasingly finding recent apps run slowly on it or don't support it's non standard screen aspect and the smaller 3.5" display . I've been fairly happy with the last 2 iphones I've owned in terms of the hardware and overall experience. However, I tend to use Google services for most stuff in general (email/calendar/photos/file storage/etc) so moving away from it wouldn't really be a big deal for me. Windows is my main PC/desktop/laptop OS and I have no intention of buying a Mac anytime soon. The Google browser based apps work really well alongside Windows so I'd wondered if perhaps moving to an Android based device might be a better fit for me? I have a 2012 Google Nexus 7 tablet so I'm not unfamiliar with the OS. Size wise I'd ideally want a smaller phone around 5" as I'm not a fan of phablets that cant be wielded with one hand. Probably something around the same dimensions as an iPhone 6 (or the 4.7" 6S which I'd likely buy in a couple of months if I don't see a suitable android handset). I thought about buying something like a cheap secondhand Google Nexus 5 so I can try out android for several months without excessive cost but would running it on a 2 year phone just put me off and give me a poor experience? I like the idea of a native Google device so android phone wise I'm favouring the upcoming 2015 revised Google Nexus 5 when it's out in a couple of months time. I've been trying out the Windows 10 xbox streaming from console to PC. I'm not sure I'd use it much but it's a pretty cool feature and something that works really well. Worth giving it a shot if you have an xbox one.

Seemed to happen on most pages I tried. Guardian/BBC/etc. I gave up after trying it with 3-4 sites and reverted back to IE/Chrome. I don't think it's down to my hardware (Core i7-5820k, 32Gb, GTX980, SSD) unless there's some kind of conflict. I haven't noticed issues with any other apps or browsers. I also had a laptop which I've upgraded but can recall if it had the same issue as I didn't really persevere with Edge on either machine. I'll give it a try again tonight to check. Is there a quick way to log the issue with MS?

Yeah, I've also found the exact same thing. It seems inconsistent when loading the page so sometimes you see the page, then start scrolling down and suddenly it becomes unresponsive for a couple of seconds before you can continue using it. This behaviour actually makes it feel really slow and laggy which is ironic for a browser that's punting itself as the fastest out there. Edge clearly needs a good few more months of development before it's going to be usable and any kind of alternative to Chrome,Firefox or even IE. The way it is just now most users will simply try it for a couple of minutes, realise how slow and useless it is then immediately switch back to their preferred browser. I've no idea what possessed Microsoft to bundle Edge in it's current form? They'd have been better off making IE11 the default and saving Edge for the next Windows 10 update.

Decided after it went smoothly on my laptop I'd give it a try on my main desktop PC at home. No major issues so far but ill post if I find anything that isn't working.
