We use a Liberum Help Desk and it works well with the majority of staff. Then there are the special members of staff who refuse to use, so they get left til last. )))

Was in PC world today (don't ask) and I saw them going for £350 with XP home and a 120gb hd. But if you take a 18month 3g broadband package out at £30 a month you get the EEE for £40. mmm....

Using nLite would reduce the size of the installation, which in turn should make it perform a little better - Iam hoping!

Linux being on them has put us off a bit as well, security issues for one. Reading up on some previous threads, someone mentioned putting XP on it, is this relatively easy to do? How does the EEE perform?

Hi We have a AXIS 2100 network Camera, which only records 96hrs and then begins to overwrite the footage. Does anyone know how to increase the length of hours or is this already at a maximum? Cheers Found solution

We just buy them with out - really can't see why they would need a drive, when they can use a usb stick. Only teacher machines have drives.

Using photorec to recover about 5gb worth of data from 120gb sata drive. I know it can be a slow process, but this thing has taken 48hours so far and its not even half way through, I know it probably scans every segment of the disk but theres only 5gb worth of stuff on there, should it be taking this long? Is there a quicker solution?

Vista sata hard drive pick ups up but I can't open the files on an XP machine? Is there software/drivers I need?

I've taken my sata 120gb out of my laptop because it wouldn't boot up - disk READ error. Want to get the data off before messing around with it. I've put it into a sata caddy then plugged it into a working computer via usb. I go into Disk management, the faulty drive has 3 partitions on it. Anyone got any ideas?

Like a few Edugeekers have said, go with Backupexec and back up to a NAS, or a plain external. The price of external storage has dropped in price dramtically, even with a tight budget. I mean I picked up an 8gb memory stick off eBay for just £10 the other day. Bargain! Tapes need to be ditched!

If you go into the software, click preferences, then look for DNA Buffer size, How weird - we had the exact same problem yesterday where the Music teacher was moaning that when he was recording in Cubase !!! It kept giving off cracks & pops it turnt out to be that our DNA buffer size was too low at 512, so we changed it to 1024 & now theres no problem.

We had a similar problem with our rollers, turns out some little twat had put chewing gum in the printer, so everytime the paper feeded in - just resulted in a paper jam!

Suddenly got this error when booting up. Windows XP 1) I've run a repair on the XP installation 2) I've run chkdsk /r No luck Could any suggest anything else I could try? Thanks

Not necessarily. My harddrive wouldn't read/format - even windows said "you may have a damaged disk", I tried a lot of things/many people even on here said the harddrive was nackered - I wouldn't accept it though. Someone mentioned downloading a harddrive utility from seagate, I ran a long test (4hours). 8 errors appeared, repaired the errors - booom! Drive back functioning correctly! ))))

Prison break is awesome, really enjoyed the first 2series can't wait to check out the 3rd!
