Still interested in whether Capita are now offering a trial?

The other thing to ensure that this works properly is that the user accounts were created from the personnel records and not from scratch. Easiest way to check that is to open system manager and see if the teachers accounts have "user" in the "roles" section (when you search but before you go into a record)

[sims] NovaT6 - Opening wrong file directory
JPatch replied to ConnorBanthorpe's topic in MIS Systems
That's correct, if it asks every time it's because he doesn't have full read/write access to C:/Windows for it to update the file location. -
Same but with phone numbers perhaps? Otherwise don't know sorry! That's my goto for pupils, with the goto for staff being absences

Check the parent email addresses. I've had a similar issue and it's where one of the contacts email addresses didn't have a type.

[sims] Manually installing on Win 7 pro 64 bit - unsupported 16 bit application
JPatch replied to Koldov's topic in MIS Systems
It tends to work properly now! At least now it updates a machine that was off when you ran the upgrade unlike before! The machines off? Oh well, no update for that then! I'e rolled it out to quite a few schools now and, touch wood, all seems to be working! Although might change my tune after the Autumn release -
I had a quick play on my test data, and sadly, as far as I can tell, you can't. You can add groups and all sorts another layer down by using custom lookups, but it will always be "add behaviour" and "add acheivement" first. Sorry

Hi all, Wonder if any of you can help with a problem that I'm having trying to install Discover. The transfer never works giving me the error message "Cannot set application role 'simsuser' because it does not exist or the password is incorrect." I understand this is a permissions issue which I'm sure I need to fix by sorting the permissions in management studio but I don't know what I need to do! I'll add that this is a training environment with capita training data and I've completely rebuilt multiple times trying to get this to work with no joy so any help you can give would be extremely gratefully accepted! Thanks, John

i can tell you exactly why that's happening! When setting up a new user in system manager you should be choosing the personnel record to create the user account from. If the user account is set up as completely new in system manager it won't link to her personnel account and therefore can't see her registers. Go into System Manager / Manage Users, change the drop down to "any" and then search for the user. If you glance at the roles, you'll most likely just see "user" but no "employee". If this is the case, click new and this time choose the personnel account when it shows, give permission and give her the new username and password. The other way is if, as mentioned above, there are two personnel accounts in personnel and the user account was made from the "wrong one", as in the one not linked to the staff code. In this situation your best bet is to create the new user account on the "correct" employee record and tell them to use that. Hope this helps!

As you've said VikPaw, changing the default layout and then saving it (when you have permissions to do so!) will make that the default for all users. Although you did make me think I'd been dreaming with that first post!

Hi Jobos, Sorry, the link just directs you to a search page. If you put the resource number in the search box at the top of the page and click search you should be able to find it. Hope this helps
-
Hi Jobos, Pretty sure we can't direct link it but if you look at Resource number 20246 on supportnet the link is hidden in there just past the sims and fms updates. Hope this helps!

You have to have at least one base band in every year group otherwise it won't let you send it over. At this stage you are best off just sending over the basebands and not the whole curriculum, as otherwise you need to be making more checks before you do it, for instance checking that all your levels have been assigned correctly. Vikpaw is correct in that you do need to have the next academic year created, and you also need to have run the promotion to move your students up a year. You don't need to worry so much about the registration part of the promotion routine as you can always run the promotion later to do this. For clarity's sake, I used to work on the Capita Chelmsford 2nd Line Curriculum desk. Hope this helps!

[sims] Generating Individual Reports in SIMS - NOT WORKING
JPatch replied to emlewi's topic in MIS Systems
I noticed this in a school I support. If it happens, close the individual report, go into the word template and just click save. Close that, save in the individual report screen and then run the reports again. Worked without fail when it happened on several occasions. I had a feeling it might have been when the template was saved and THEN verified, and then NOT saved again. Could be wrong on that bit though- 8 replies
