I think Freshdesk is just for ticketing, whereas FreshService is more of a full blown ITSM with a more complete ITIL implementation.

The sixth form college I used to work for tried them out and found much the same as @bigal06. The desks we had were also too fragile, the mechanisms for flipping the monitor often broke and the monitor was either stuck up or down. I seem to recall a couple of students being stupid and letting themselves get hit by the mechanism too and some trapped fingers too, but I'm not sure if that's right or not; it's been a long time since that job now! In the end, the college decided to try putting in laptops and securing the laptops to the desk with Kensington lock cables. The desks had a duct at the back where the laptops could be stashed while they weren't in use. This seemed to work pretty well and was still in use when I left and when I 0re-visited the college about 18 months later.

Is it a series of hard drive bays, on a server or NAS?

Hot dog, we have a wiener! WAP54G Back when these things came onto the market, integrated gateways and wireless APs were less common. It wasn't unusual for you to buy separates and Linksys did a whole range of things like wireless access points, routers, switches/hubs and other things which could be stacked on top of each other. Then came the WRT54G and OpenWRT

They did a range of equipment shaped like that. Close.

Domestic, as in you'd use it at home but it wouldn't be good enough for the workplace

It's domestic IT equipment, but it's not storage.

The MAT I used to work for had a couple of their primary schools connected via P2P Wireless radios. One had UBNT equipment, a couple of the others had Cambium. It worked reasonably well over the distances involved (about half a mile for one of the schools, a mile for another and about three miles for the third) for a long time but they got progressively worse as time went on. One of them was point almost directly at Canary Wharf and I think that we were getting a lot of interference from that. Another slowed down to the point of uselessness because we think that the airwaves were getting more congested and that there was interference from domestic wireless networks. They can work well, but if you're in a built-up area you may want to use one which uses a 6GHz radio to avoid that.

Windows DHCP has had the ability to balance DHCP scopes across multiple servers and failover since Windows 2012 R2 I think. You don't need to do the 80/20 split thing any more. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2012-r2-and-2012/dn338978(v=ws.11)

God, I remember those things. They were a frigging nightmare. The school I worked at had a bunch of those and some Netgear equivalents and somehow the Netgears were the better choice. It was a massive relief when I finally managed to persuade them to move over to printers with integrated JetDirects. How about this?

[tv show] BBC and Disney Branded Television join forces on Doctor Who
Norphy replied to 6Foot2's topic in TV & Movies
Wasn’t there an entire Tom Baker series that had no Tardis, due to BBC budgetary constraints? -
‘Net send’ was taken out back and shot when Vista was released.

[pics] Quote Marks are "not" for emphasis!
Norphy replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
In fairness, they're not emphasising "GOOD" there, they're quoting "GOOD" from the Ofsted report. Still a very clumsy way of doing it though. -
Looks like a PlayStation to me

Heh, I had one of those and the original model without the calculator bit.

Cartridge slot on something? One of the Mega Drives possibly?

If they’re selling below cost, that would suggest to me that no-one wants them. The question I would then ask is ‘Why?’, and going by experience with the DfE ones the answer is going to be ‘Because they’re rubbish’. As the old saying goes: Buy cheap, buy twice.
