  1. Hi all, I've got a HP desk-jet USB all in one and am having problems sharing it on the server. I plug it in via USB and nothing happens, when I go through the add new printer wizard is also doesn't pick it up. I am connecting to the server Via remote access, could this be the issue? might have to dig a monitor and keyboard out! Thanks in advance
  2. Right a quick update, ive got back hold of my HDD adaptor, taken out the HDD of the laptop and moved the registry items from the recovery folder. I reinstalled the HDD and all i get is a blank screen with a flashing cursor. When i F8 to safe boot i get the options up for safe boot, with networking etc. but it starts running through the files and just stops. All of the recovers disks are lost and the only option I think im left with is a fresh install. all of the personal data on the machine has been backed up when i plugged it in using my HDD adaptor. Since I dont have the recovery discs what options do I have? As difinity has written above is it possible to use a different OEM copy of XP such as a dell or samsung and still use the legitimate OEM License key?
  3. Hi everyone, This is my first time setting up an AD network and ive been having some problems. Ive got a HP proliant tower server running server 03, 5 windows 7 pro workstations connected to a switch into the server. Ive configured the domain and dns server, added the users and computers to the AD but when I try and login to the domain from one of the & workstations I am getting the message "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship" I have googled with little avail just wondering if anybody knows where the source of the problem is. Im quite a noob when it comes to networking so please bear that in mind, would really appreciate some help on this one.
  4. Well I originally tried booting puppy linux and ubuntu from both a USB and from a CD but neither worked, A splash screen came up for puppy linux then just a blank black screen with a flashing cursor
  5. Hi thanks for your quick reply, I will try and give this a go when I get back hold of my IDE adaptor (a friend has borrowed it)
  6. Hi, Im trying to fix a work colleagues old fujitsu Amilo a1650 which is appearing with an error message on boot that the system file in Sys32 is lost or damaged. Normally I would just put in the recovery disk and fix it but the person im trying to fix it for has lost the disk. There is no recovery partition and I am unable to boot in safe mode. I have removed the HDD and hooked it up to my USB to IDE adaptor and backed up all of the files on it. I have then contacted Fujitsu Siemens to request an OEM XP recovery disk but they no longer provide them for this range of laptops due to its age and have recommended I get a 3rd party copy of XP. Am I correct in thinking that you cannot use an OEM license key on a retail version for a reinstall? but will you need a product key just for a repair of the OS? Or is there anywhere I can download an ISO OEM Copy? I dont think he will want to shell out for a new copy of XP due to the age of the machine. Would appreciate any guidance
  7. Hi im new on here, Ive got a HP Proliant DL380 server running windows server 2003 and 4 Hard drives set up in RAID 1. I have been checking event viewer and have seen the following message repeated multiple times- "Periodic scan found one or more degraded logical drives: controller 1. Repair as soon as possible to avoid data loss." from a bit of googling others have said that this message indicated that one of the drives has failed and that I should replace in case the second drive also fails. but on closer inspection on the actual server none of the hard drives have the fault status lights are on. Was just looking for some advice as what to do, does the drive need replacing? (if so how can I determine which one) or is it an issue with the HP storage manager? Any help would be very much appreciated.
