If I change the subnet to .252 What IP ranges are then usable?

There are a few static printers/switches/APs, however, if your recommend this as the best option, then i'm happy to spend a weekend changing them over... Would this mean anything in the 172.16.x.x range is valid and viewable?

Our DHCP is set to assign IPs with the following settings: IP: 192.168.0.x Subnet: 255.255.255.0 With a lease time of 7 days (to try and stop old addresses from filling up the leases etc...) According to the scope statistics, we only have 4 addresses left, which is a problem, because 20 new laptops have just arrived (40 potential IP leases, one for wired, one for wireless) What is the best way to go about adding another range to our DHCP server? I read somewhere on this forum that one method would be to add another range of 192.168.1.x and to change the subnet on both ranged to 255.255.254.0 Is this correct? Thanks for your help!

I've had a similar problem, what I had to do with turn off SATA enhancements or something similar in the bios, something about Native mode. I'll check the exact name as soon as I get back to work

thanks, will give that a try Trying to setup a Win2k3 Print Server to test (because these probs began when I installed Win2k3 R2 & Win2k8) just having some mouse issues with Hyper-V

and now it's doing it for Win2k8 VMs as well, mouse starts in the top left corner, as soon as I take control of it, it dissapears...

I'm having a problem with Hyper-V at the moment, using it to host a Win2k8 Standard server and it works perfectly, tried to create a new Virtual Machine, this time a Win2k3 server, it goes through the first part of the install fine (which partition, formatting, copying files etc...) and as soon as it gets to the screen where you enter the User & the Company, the mouse sticks in the top left corner and when I try move the mouse, the pointer dissapears and doesn't come back. Either way, I completed the setup with the keyboard, and when it finished, Server 2003 loaded... at 1600xwhatsit res. Changed the Res and then realised that it hadn't loaded the network card. Anyways, will keep playing, just wondering if anybody else has had any problems similar?

I using PCL6 Drivers, let me see if I can track down some PCL5 drivers and give it a try

Thanks for your suggestions Michael! The thing is, the problems also occured on Server 2k3 R2, so I don't think its a prob being caused by Server 2008. Related to the TCP/IP Ports, I did manually install the TCP/IP ports myself... I will have a look @ that BiDirectional Printing option, although speed isn't really an issue. What I've done now is set in the printer's default settings to scale to A4 and I'll see if that helps at all, however, I shouldn't really need to do this and the Lexmark doesn't have an option to scale. The annoying thing about it is the randomness, impossible to pinpoint the problem!

As far as I know, I have the latest PCL drivers off the HP & Lexmark website but I'll have a look and see if I can find anything newer, but it's odd that it's happening to 2 different kinds of printers

I'm having a problem with a print server I've setup, Every now and again, somebody will print, and it will scale the print job down to about 25% of the page and it is completely random, different users, different machines, different printers. I first noticed this problem with I setup a new print server using 2003 R2 and by the time I noticed the prob, the old print server's hardware had been retired, so there was no going back. I've since created a new print server (playing with Hyper-V on 2008) using Server 2008 Standard, and the problem is continuing with this brand new printer server. It seems to mainly occur on the 2x HP 3600DN Colour LaserJets, but has also happened a few times on a Lexmark T432 which means the problem is definately on the print server. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, do it for the trees, as soon as somebodys print job comes out @ 25%, they simply press print again and again and again expecting it to fix the problem!

I'm actually having some problems updating mine, do I REALLY have to setup a KMS whatsit server just to activate it?

The bootdisk fails trying to load the network card drivers, something about 'can't find network card' or something along those lines, cloning from the console doesn't work because it can't boot to virtual partition (all google'ing says thats due to incompatible network card drivers) but anyway, the search continues

Incase anybody is interested: I remove the "Domain Users", "Interactive User" & "Authenticated Users" accounts from under the 'Users' Groupd in Local Users & Groups then Add the OU that I want to be able to access that computer under Power Users. thanks to everybody for your help & suggestions!

Thanks guys, I'll go give it a try now.... My issue with using the "Deny Logon Locally" is that I don't want to deny certain OUs, I want to deny everyone EXCEPT certain OUs

How and Where to I configure the Windows Security Groups?

I tried removing the "Domain Users" from "Users" under "Local Users & Groups" and yet all accounts still seem to be able to log on... That is the way I had hoped to do it, are there any other accounts I need to remove?

I'm trying to find a way of blocking all users from logging onto domain computers unless that have been added as an admin/power user/guest/user etc... At the moment, anybody with an account can log onto which ever computers they feel like, and I've discovered that alot of kids and certain staff often go into the library and use the librarians computer when she's not there. What I'd like to do is create an OU and add the 3 ladies who work in the Library on different days, and deny anybody from logging onto that machine except members of that library OU. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have just recieved my order of 80 shiny new PCs, with Intel DG33FB motherboards. I installed everything on it and have created my base image and then tried to pull the image off using the ghost console, however, it didn't recognise the network card. Never fear, I'll just create a new network card template using the driver cd, so I do that, and it restarts and goes back into windows. "Failed to boot into Virtual Partition". Now here's the problem, that mean's its the wrong network card drivers, I've tried every single driver on that driver cd as well as trying all the network card drivers on the website. I've tried NDIS and Packet drivers, I've tried 3Coms universal packet driver, as well the as universal packet drivers that come with Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 and no luck. I've also tried various boot cds/disks etc from the internet. Windows shows the onboard network card to be a: Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection Any searches for drivers take me to the driver packs for the Intel Pro 1000 series which I have tried. Does anybody have any suggestions? Without the network card working my options are: 1) Install 80 network cards into the machine (I don't have 80 network cards lying around) 2) Clone it HDD to HDD, which will work, but will take forever AND will mean I can't quickly deploy new images when I make changes.

Is there anyway you could change the script to use a MySQL Database instead of an Access Database?

Is there anychance you could share your script and/or asp pages please? I'm looking for something to do a similar job and don't have the time (or the knowledge of ASP) to write my own at the moment
