Wish we had your budget then! 😉 One of our Hypervisors has two 36 core CPUs so that's ((72x1.5)x12) - a whopping £1,296 a year for updates that don't require a reboot! It's not what I would call affordable and that's just one of our servers...

I wonder if it will be included as part of a licensing subscription and only paid for separately if a business etc. has purchased an OEM license or such like?

Are you still using the old SIMS server? If not then in the short term you could add a DNS entry with the old server name and the new IP address so the old S: drive mapping will still work but it will be on the new server/share.

For me Windows XP is my preferred OS - but then that's because I have several hundred Windows XP era laptops to tinker around with 🤣 but for modern day use Windows 11 all the way.

Sorin Electronics are very good: https://sorinelectronics.com/book-a-service/ We do this sort of repair ourselves - we dont have that many laptops that use a USB-C port for charging so I have only managed to do 1 USB-C port replacement so far and that was touch and go!

WE had some USB-C Lenovo devices that charge the battery up OK with the Lenovo USB-C charger but with a generic/universal USB-C charger of the same power/wattage it doesnt charge the battery so always worth trying multiple chargers as it appears not all USB-C chargers are the same!

If it was me I'd try and see if the batteries are faulty or not - the easiest way to do this is to try a known working battery in the laptops to see if it's the charging circuit on the motherboard or a worn out battery etc.

Take a look at Redstor as they've changed their licensing model so it's based on employee numbers rather than per TB (like how Microsoft license you by number of staff and not the number of devices you install Windows on).

An estimated £14billion worth of valuable metals are discarded each year and only a small proportion are sent to WEEE recycling companies to recycle - they dont just sell working equipment on for a profit, they send faulty, non-working, damaged and old untested equipment away for recycling. The circuit boards are stripped from most items as that's where the value is. Sadly most of the plastic cases end up in landfill.

Just got the email from them today! Still mentions the 1st of March (that's 27 days ago now) and their website still says free collection of Toner and there are no mentions of costs in their email which is very odd as either way they should really say if it's still Free or if it's now chargeable. If it is chargeable, surely hiding this information by saying to people "For further information on exceptions/Ts&Cs please speak to an agent." isn't legal or at least not in the spirit of the law?!

Just had a quick look on their website and it looks like they still collect them for free.

We had a collection a couple of weeks ago and they took all the toners and no mention of a seperate charge. It's a bit odd as if it started on the 1st of March why 25 days later are they still advertising it as free on their website. Seems odd behaviour to me.

With regards to Enviro Electroniic - I went on their live chat yesterday on their website and asked the question and (I think it said Sam on the chat but can't remember 100%) and they refused to confirm or deny that they now charge for toner recycling and I should email them the query instead if they want a proper reply. In various places on their website it still says they take toners for Free from Schools so at this moment in time I would still recommend them for free toner/weee removal.

They still take them from us in or out of the WEEE bin for free - not seen any emails saying otherwise and their website still says they take toners for free!
