Hi All, We are looking at moving from Exchange 2010 to GMail for mail. Chromebooks and G-Suite are becoming more of the every day. Does anyone have any gotcha's things they would have done better differently things that have gone well. Would ideally like to trial a small subset before larger groups. Currently mulling over looking at cloudm https://cloudm.co/ or a DIY. https://support.google.com/a/answer/180898?hl=en G-Suite Migration for Exchange. https://support.google.com/a/topic/9064794 . Pupils will probably lose all old email selected staff will get an opportunity to move mailboxes but we will encourage removal where possible. Have some had success with moving mail between exchange and gmail using drag and dropping from within outlook?

Any of it being streamed for us northerners who can't make it? -
We are dipping our toes in the GSuite world. Are there any tools out there to show who has shared which files within your internal G-Suite Domain. I'm getting anecdotal reports from some pupils that there is some doc sharing going around and some pretty crude remarks being shared about others during and outside school time. Nobody has put their head above the parapit as yet. Or anyone seen a way to be able straightforwardly look at a shared file URL? I did have a look at Bark https://www.bark.us/schools but this is US based and doesn't comply with UK Data Protection. Anyone any other ideas?

We are just working through changing the way we work from staff taking away a specific piece of paper with parental contact details Medical and Dietary Info on to something else. Contenders are Emerge on school owned devices, be they iOS or Android. (Pretty expensive as 25 could be away at once). Sync before you leave site. (Sometimes this can be flaky so it might not sync and you have hundreds of pupil details available which you don't actually need. Google Docs created by the office for each trip accessible from our google drive / shared with that individual. Set to work in offline mode before you leave site. We do use evolve which can be accessed if you have an internet connection, though this is most places it isn't all by any stretch of imagination. What do other people do?

Turn Off Pen Flicks on Windows 10?
bjohnny42 replied to bjohnny42's topic in Promethean Direct Support
So the solution that I came up with to disable the pen Flicks gestures from “Pen and Touch” on Windows 10. We have added a registry entry to do this. U - Reg Setting Pen Input No Flicks Hive HKEY_CURRENT_USER Key path Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Pen\SysEventParameters Value name FlickMode Value type REG_DWORD Value data 0x0 (0) Using Item Level Targeting to limit only members of the “Maths Staff” Group at this stage. (Not that I think anyone else is using it yet) Attempts to get the correct element of the control panel to display were unsuccessful. C:\Windows\System32\TabletPC.cpl (You need to have a display which is touch enabled for this to work) If required there would be other options to control other pen input [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wisp] -
Turn Off Pen Flicks on Windows 10?
bjohnny42 replied to bjohnny42's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Were on LTSB 1609......... Damn, So if anyone has any other ideas where this change is saved, it would be possible to just force that change so it is off.... -
Anyone know how we can turn off pen flicks on windows 10 for end users? Its making it really difficult for our Maths Department to use their super new Promethean interactive screens as instead of doing a nice quick plus sign the screen wants to go back or forward or use other gesture controls. The Group Policy Changes here https://getadmx.com/?Category=Windows_10_2016&Policy=Microsoft.Policies.TabletPCShell::PreventFlicks_2 seems to only work for Windows 7? Or anyone know how to give users access to just the "Pen and Touch" section of the control panel? (I don't want them changing anything else) John

Is anyone out there using Enterprise Password Managers? I've got a call booked in with Lastpass as i have used it personally for a long time, but anyone have any experience using it in their school? Or any other password managers. We did use OneLogin but had issues with the usability and security of their services so have moved away.

We've been getting an increasing number of issues with the UCAS website being intermittently available. It feels like i'm missing something obvious, but it will work fine for a while then just not respond at all for a while. Then be ok. This seems to be a number of devices but it isn't all users all devices all the time. It is driving me a bit bonkers. Does anyone have any whitelist information or the like they have used / issue tracking tips. Looking at the firewall logs nothing seems to be blocked, more that it might not actually be leaving the device? At the same point you get your mobile out and browse using it and the website stays up, this is fine apart from staff looking to write statements on the website cant!

Is there going to be a live stream available for those chained to the desk? -
Not really looking for recommendations, just i'm looking for some and a google search interestingly brings up 3. GeTech ,RM and XMA. Are there any others? Thinking of starting down the Google path and I thought i'd find a page on google with them nicely listed!

Anyone used a Google For Education Premier Partner that they particularly like or dislike? I've tried searching on google but seem to be getting nowhere! If anyone could point me to a list of them that would be great. I can see information on how i'd become one but not on who one actually is!

We are thinking about a rollout of Chromebooks to pupils over the next couple of years. What options are out there with regards to making sure the same filtering we have in place in school happens at home or in a coffeshop? Smoothwall has an option, but what else is out there?

Is there a way to download the content of all office365 users onedrive and possibly sharepoint? I'm contemplating some major changes and would like a "It's gone totally wrong" way of getting at the data? We don't have masses, but 1500 users with a couple of files each is a bit much if you have to manually do it through clicking on "Access files" from the "Admin Center" Something like an XCopy for Office365 is what i'm thinking about.

Groupcall Emerge from SIMS. Error (1002) Value cannot be null.
bjohnny42 replied to bjohnny42's topic in MIS Systems
Received a call not long after reporting and after spending some time on the phone to a really helpful chap we got it sorted. May have been related to a pre release script change. We use AD logins and it seemed to be linked to something not right happening there. -
I've got many many users, well i think all of them this morning who use emerge with the above error? Anyone any ideas? "Error (1002) Value cannot be null. Parameter name: key." Google Search has come up with nothing, i've raised a call with Groupcall but it was a "just leave a message" instead of getting through to someone.

I've just had a look at upgrading and have seen this. Whilst making the call to apple I was informed that we had an old vpp account. (Pre2014) and that I must create a new one, migrate the content, update to DEP and then i'd be able to move onto VPP....... I should be sent the details on what to do within an hour... We are an hour and half now and still nothing.... Oh dear....

Does anyone know if we can have multiple domains on one gsuite. We have registered xyz.net with google, but historically we also have 4 other domains registered to us 123.org.uk 456.org.uk 789.org.uk abc.org.uk Do you know if it is possible to setup aliases for xyz.net users so they could receive email destined for abc.org.uk? so [email protected] could receive [email protected] or even choose to send as this user? Cheers

I'm not sure it's the right forum. I'm having an idea. We have a VDI based system available for staff use and and was thinking about a cheap end user device that would just interface with it and that alone so staff in a difficult to reach location can access resources. Sims, shared drives, email print etc. It needs to be cheap. It needs to have a screen, keyboard and Mouse I was wondering if you can make Chromebooks boot, and go straight to a website and that alone. (VDI has a web front end) And not allow them to anywhere else? That or if they have a Windows remote desktop client.

Were piloting Office365 and like some of the features of it (sharepoint), but like the you tube abilities there with google apps.. Does anyone know if it is possible to use both from the same domain name linked to the same AD? Thus users wouldn't need to remember more than one username and password. I'm not interested in using two email systems just picking the best from both. Or do we need to setup a different domain for google apps?

Has anyone given a set of Bluetooth headphones a go in a classroom situation? We have issues with whichever corded headphones we have pupils somehow manage to trip up, pull them out and in other ways break the connectors / cables. Has anyone had 26 working in a classroom with WiFi? We could send all the WiFi to 5Ghz freeing up some space for the bluetooth headsets. But would it just be too dense?

Cybernerd, could you expand on this a little. Have you gone down moving your users to Google accounts?

BYOD/Android certifcate substitution problem
bjohnny42 replied to Bruce123's topic in How do you do....it?
Just a quick thought but do you tell your users that you decript and intercept their SSL data? Are there warnings about banking using school facilities etc? It seems mad doing online banking in school but you never know with some users. This among other things. I think what you are talking about is discussed here. Installing anything on someones own device is fraught with difficulty and I don't see a way around it. Totally possible to install a cert on school own devices but fraught with difficulty on user owned devices. (Both logistically and legally) The Smoothwall Blog: 7 Ways To Deal With HTTPS traffic
