  1. Anyone know any cheap or freeware print limit stuff?
  2. Does anyone know any companies offering freebies? Don't care what we just would like some!
  3. We have got a projector + IWB in every classroom in our school. Despite about 50 warnings about turning the projectors off the staff still 'forget'. What can we do about the lack of brains in our school? We have completely run out of money until march so we cannot have a bulb blow because the projector is on too long. I don't believe that we can ask staff to pay for the replacement bulb - or even half of it as the projector is school property (or can we???). We also have some 3 year old NEC VT47's which have had there fair share of bulbs and filters. They are now on their final legs but the head says that she will not replace them even when we get our money back!! What can we do about this. We have staff complaining that the projectors don't work (so they can't teach - head still doesn't fall for this).
  4. The only problem with saying that it is clogging the server is that the staff know that we have 2tb hard drive on the server - they all know how large that is. Plus the fact the servers are new - so there is no way that they are nearly a quarter full
  5. Also - anyone got an Epson Aculaser C900? how can you get it to print quicker - it takes 5 minutes to come out of sleep mode and then another 5 to print the first page. After that it is a wonderful printer!
  6. We have a HP Business Inkjet 2800 in our ICT Suite. As i am new i have no idea of when it was purchased, all i can say is that it is rubbish. The printer runs out of ink at incredible speeds. The printer jams every few pages and it keeps claiming 'unexpected paper size'. The printer claims to print A3 - but it doesn't - it jams (what a surprise!!) and the auto-duplex unit requires the you to take the paper out and turn it round. (isn't that manual??). The head won't get rid of the printer until there is smoke pouring out of it or until it won't print at all. What can we do? (she claims it was brought last year - it wasn't that one is on her own desk!)
  7. We have got them to sign a policy about it - after they had all downloaded the music. Their excuse for not getting rid of the stuff is that it is 'for school' or they are not able to because there is so much of it. Staff also won't hand there laptops over because they are needed in lessons. Even though we will offer a replacement until theirs is fixed
  8. Staff laptops at our school are currently standalone, but the powers that be have decided to move all the laptops over to the domain. Staff currently use laptops like home computers as well as work and have music software and games. (some aren't within the right side of the law!!). We also have staff storing up to 20 GB of music on iTunes. I have recently read that if staff use laptops for home use the school has to pay VAT on the computers. What can we do about this situation. As iTunes is a paid for music service, we cannot just delete the music. The head has already said that we can delete the illegal stuff after giving the staff 1 notice, but the staff aren't having that and keep hold of there laptops. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. so what can i do about some of the profiles not downloading to the laptops over the wireless connection. I don't really mind how long it takes to download, i just need them to load eventually!!
  10. it's 1.2 mb - there is nothing inside them!
  11. We have 30 laptops in 2 laptop trolleys. We also have a 54g wireless network with a network access point in every other classroom. The laptops work fine except for the issue with logging on. After about 5 laptops have logged on successfully the other laptops either claim that they cannot access the server copy of the roaming profile or they spend ages saying 'loading your personal settings...' for about 10 minutes before loading the administrator profile. Is this a problem with the laptops, or the access points. It definately isn't the server because the ICT suite can have absolutely no problems.
