Hi, I have just completed the Cisco Network Academy and have booked the Cisco 640-802 exam for January so I can hopefully obtain my CCNA certificate. I was just wondering has anybody done the 640-802 exam and if so what was it like, what did you have to do in the exam? Thanks

Managed to get it working now. The DN's for the containers were all incorrect. Used ldp.exe to find out the correct ones and it now works. On a separate note. On logging in the edit profile page keeps appearing and does so every time you login. Does anyone know how you can switch this off so the default page is home. Thanks.

Hi, I am in the process of setting up LDAP authentication with active directory on a 2003 domain with moodle. I have followed all the instructions on the moodle site and we are running an RM CC3 network. At the start I was getting bind errors whenever I tried to login as a user from AD, this was down to an incorrect bind username. This has since been resolved but now It just says "Invalid login" for every user account I try. My understanding is when a user who is listed in AD uses there credentials to login, their user details are then added to the moodle list of users. Hi, Yes I can connect using windows authentication or the dbowner account I setup. The service is running. I did setup a php page which connects to the database and that worked fine. It seems to be that moodle's install.php page will not see the database.

No joy with that I'm afraid it still refuses to see the database. If I create an instance using SQL server 2000 it sees the database no problem however SQL server 2000 is version 8.0 and the latest version of moodle requires the database/instance to be version 9.0 which is sql server 2005. Although at the moment it looks like it doesn't work well with sql server 2005.

I haven't tried odbc but its not recommended. how do you have it setup?

I used the free TDS but there is a problem with it. If I enabled dblib.dll and uncomment mssql.dll it moans at me saying mssql.dll has to be enabled in php.ini. So I did that seeing as though free TDS won't work for me. What does TDS actually do anyway???? lol.

Hi, TCP/IP is enabled on the instance I'm using. It makes no difference. There is nothing blocking port 1433 so I don't understand what is going on. I noticed that there is boxes for TCP Dynamic Ports and TCP port these are blank but I did try putting 1433 in the TCP port and I got the same results.

I was just wondering if anyone has managed to get moodle working using sql server 2005. I have php installed and the site is configured correctly through IIS using the extensions. Using a php test page I am able to connect to our sql server 2005 instance and database. The trouble comes when you get to the moodle install.php page. It asks you to specify the following: Type Host Server Database User Password Tables prefix The confusing bit is the host server. Nearly every website tells you to put localhost there. My question is how does it know which instance to use to find the database? My settings are: Type: SQL*Server with UTF-8 support (mssql_n) Host Server: localhost Database: moodle User: moodle Password: Tables prefix - mdl_ As far as I can tell my settings should be correct but I get this error message: We could not connect to the database you specified. Please check your database settings. If anyone has any experience of this I would be most grateful if you could assist me. Cheers.

I used a dating site to meet my current girlfriend. We have been together 2 years now with no problems. Everything from the meet onwards has been going great. I always found that the biggest problem with meeting women in bars/clubs/pubs or other public places is you just don't know who they are with, you could start chatting to some random woman and next minute you wake up in a&e. Its a harsh reality but I think dating someone you meet online is safer in many respects.

Hi Many thanks for your reply. I have managed to edit the sidebar and I have it applying for every user. The account lockout issue has also been rectified. The only thing I need to do now is find a way of stopping users going into finder preferences. Any thoughts would be great. I have had a look in com.apple.finder.plist but didn't see anything that stood out.

What I'm actually looking to do initially is stop various items appearing on the sidebar for all users. I know you can do this through finder preferences but the users can easily change it back. I need to find a way of de-selecting the items and have this setting apply on a global scale. Then find a way of disabling the finder preferences menu. Getting pretty desperate:o

Having recently started to image our brand new leopard clients for integration to AD I have noticed a few annoying bugs which could do with being ironed out. If anyone could help out with any of these I would be most grateful. The first problem I am having is after I logout of leopard using a windows network account, the account gets locked out. The other problem is we map a network share for all users to access the shared documents. On the desktop there is a shortcut which takes you to the shared documents. However if you open up finder and click the share available on the sidebar it shows the entire root of the server shared documents is stored on. This is a real problem as although generally not much can be changed here or deleted the odd item is writeable. Is there anyway to change this? on our tiger clients when you click shared documents through the finder it displays only what it should. I should point out that we are using 10.4 Server with 10.5 Clients. Most settings get applied through Workgroup manager policies and some small settings I have built into the image. Here is a reason why not to have your router managed by someone else: I phoned up RM (yes I know!) and asked if they could block port 3389 on the router, eventually after many questions they understood what I was asking for and proceeded to make the change. They requested I reboot the router which I did to then find they had blocked every port apart from port 80! After going backwards and forwards to update the support call and pretty much doing it for them they unblocked the email ports and the other ports we needed. What a nightmare though I only wanted one port blocked! lol

Is it possile regardless of whether your servers have external ip addresses or not, to only allow ip's of hosts on the internal network to connect to the servers via rdp? I'd like to use it inside school but keep it secure so it cannot be accessed outside by "ip scanners" is this possible?

We did have rdp setup for remote access on 3 of our servers. Shortly after doing this we had security breaches, "unknown accounts" appearing in user profiles, symantec detecting tamper attempts and virus alerts. The servers do have external ip addresses, so whether thats the problem im unsure. Also I know you can restrict users/user groups who are allowed to access the server this way but is it possible to add another level of authentication before you get to the login prompt? like what you get in VNC.

Just got back from the Roadshow in Manchester. I found it quite informative and Server 2008 looks like its got some cool features. Now to get to the freebies bit . I picked up Server 2008 (32 & 64 versions) Evaluation , Visual Studio 2008 (Standard Edition), SQL Server 2008 Comm Technology Preview, Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade. Visual Studio 2008 is the full version, Server 2008 is a 365 day full trial as is Vista Ultimate Upgrade, after this time you are required to purchase a permanent key. Unless Microsoft have changed what freebies they are giving away, it might be worth checking that the copy of Vista Ultimate you received is in fact the full version and not the 365 trial. I cant say im complaining tbh, the 365 day limit is still very generous.
