    10.5 AD Binding

Hi, Still no joy I'm afraid. When I try to add the directory servers I can add our apple server but it will not let me add anything related to our domain controllers or 03 domain. It just says eDSCannotAccessSession, I cannot seem to find anything on the net which resembles the problems we are having. Starting to get a bit desperate now.
  4. Internet Software sciences provide a really good free one for up to 3 techie logins. It has full integration to AD too for single sign-on. We use it just for our staff members to log calls but its brilliant. Really easy to setup in IIS, instructions are really good too for a free piece of software. Download it from http://www.inet-sciences.com/ I did try Liberum on a recommendation from a friend but I found it very awkward to setup and it went pear shaped! Still not looked back since I installed this Inet Sciences one, give it a go!

    10.5 AD Binding

Hmm, could be, the only confusing part is our tiger clients will bind/unbind to their hearts content. I would just put tiger on this iMac but 10.4 doesn't have the right drivers for the new iMacs:rolleyes:

ditto, I read somewhere that the error I get can be caused if you have multiple DC's as its not "clever" enough to pick one. Doesn't appear to be a solution for it though.

    10.5 AD Binding

It is set to accept all incoming requests. Im not sure if its a simple on/off button like it is on tiger unless I'm missing something.

I can confirm lookup of the domain does return a result for both our DC's.

Just another quick note if I change the domain name I typed in to st-ambrose or st-ambrose.local, it says could not contact domain.

    10.5 AD Binding

Hi, thanks for the instructions. I am trying to add the AD directory services server but am getting problems. I have typed in the following: AD Domain - st-ambrose.internal Computer ID - AD Administrator Username - administrator AD Administrator Password - The error I receive is: "An Unexpected error of type - 14006 (eDSCannotAccessSession) occured." The computer ID box I wasn't sure what to type into it I tried the DC name and it comes up with the same error.

The OU is exactly the same for both our leopard and tiger machines. I just tested binding/unbinding with the same settings on a tiger machine to make sure there was no other issues and it binds/unbinds perfectly.

    10.5 AD Binding

It is a new iMac which we are trying to bind to AD. I have tried re-installing the OS from the disks which came with the iMac but I'm going to try installing leopard from a standalone dvd without any extras. I heard that it was a common fault with leopard and that the 10.5.2 release fixed it, I have to say though with 10.5.2 on it still does not bind. The other thing is in the directory utility what information should be in there? I have a setup guide to directory access on 10.4 but on 10.5 its quite different.

    10.5 AD Binding

I have put in our frdc as the time server, once you hit enter it puts itself to the correct time. It seems able to see both our DC's however it just doesn't want to use one of them to bind to AD

The time zone is correct. I did have to double check though as I wasn't sure but it is set correctly.

    10.5 AD Binding

Hi, I am trying to bind an iMac with Leopard installed to AD. Leopard is upgraded to 10.5.2. Whenever I try to add it to the domain it just comes up with the following error: Unable to contact the domain controller for an unknown reason. I have looked everywhere for a solution to this problem but have been unsuccessful. All of our 10.4 clients are bound to AD without any problems but the 10.5's just wont do it. The Apple server we are running is 10.4 server but all logins are done through AD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Adam.
  19. Thanks guys, tried printing to ip and I still had the same problem. After checking through the config pages for our printer which is a hp laserjet 4250n I noticed that number of copies under printing preferences was set to 2 as default. I changed this to 1 and the duplicate printing has now disappeared, it seems strange that the printer has this setup. I even restored factory settings to it a few days ago and the default is indeed 2 however it does not affect windows based printing. Might be something worth looking at if you use this type of printer.
  20. Hi, We currently have a suite of about 39 apple computers running off one apple server. The server is linked into AD on our windows 2003 domain, so users log in as normal and printers are available etc. The issue we are having is from the mac os, when you print to a windows based printer it prints 2 copies of everything which is beginning to get a little annoying not to mention its wasting paper! We also have this issue when printing from linux to a windows based printer. I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and may have some advice. Cheers Adam
