Hi We are in need of some videos format converting software. We'll need it for approximately 120 workstations. We need it to convert from a variety of formats to at least .AVI, .MP4, .MOV and .WMV Cheap or free please. Can you guys make any recommendations? Thanks Tom

Hi I've set changed the NPS so that it only accepts computer groups and altered the GPO for my wireless security so that we're using 'computer authentication. This doesn't work, none of my GPOs will apply. I've set 'Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon' Any ideas? Thanks Tom

Hi We're in the process of moving over from WPA2 PSK over to WPA2 802.1X. We're using 'User authentication' on our NPS and have selected 'Single sign on type as: preLogon' I'm happy with the way the wireless encryption is working and everyone is able to logon. The authentication is occuring after the user has logged in (as I would expect it too). What about the group policies that would normally be applied before a user is able to log in? Any idea guys. Hi We currently have roaming profiles enables for the staff but not for the students in the school. We are having a few problems with individual profiles. We are running Server 2008R2 and Windows 7 on every machine bar a couple of Surfaces. What are the benefits of having roaming profiles at all, if 99% of the staff only use their own laptop/workstation? Thanks for reading

Hi guys How are you managing to keep on top of your flash player and Java updates on your student workstations? At the moment I'm using a GPO to push out the MSI for both flash and Java (but only as ofter as every 6 weeks). Do you guys uninstall the previous version before hand, or do you just install over the top? And is there a way you can install it once and have the application manage the updates itself? Hi All We recently added another file server to our AD. We set up a DFS namespace (\\school) and set the replication going on all the folders. It took weeks and weeks to get through the backlog of files to replicate, files were missing all over the place and the teachers were becoming increasing grumpy! We decided to scrap the replication, but kept the namespace, for the ease of not having to adjust GPOs and Home folders paths. However, this is the bit I need help with, the System Volume information contains the DFS cache (DFSR) folder, which is over 100GB in size! What's the easiest/best way of removing it? Thanks Tom

Hi I've tried to disable my AV, that didn't work. I've copied the exe to my C: drive and I'm trying to extract the files to my C:\ drive, that didn't work. I've tried to do it on another pc, a Windows XP machine with no AV, still doesn't work. Same error message each time. What am I doing wrong?

Hi We've recently bought 30 perpetual licences for ActivEngage. We're happy that it works as we intended it to do on our iPads however we now want to get it work on our curriculum laptops. We use Windows 7 professional within a Windows Server 2008R2 Active Directory environment. I've successfully managed to push out ActivInspire to over 70 teacher laptops using group policy but I'm having zero success using the same technique for ActivEngage. Any ideas? Thanks Tom

I've had a play with the ownerships of the folders and had no joy. This is something which only happens on our laptops, the desktops just don't have this problem, so does it have something to do with a sometimes slower connection to the DC and NAS? The image is ok. When I re-image the problem disappears on the affected laptop. I've checked the credentials manager and nothing appears in there.

Yes I can ping the NAS drive.

Hi We've got around 150 Students laptops in our school but from time to time we're presented with this issue and so far the only solution I've come up with is to re-image the affected laptop. When a student logs on they are unable to view their H: drive (and as a result any of their documents). Each year group has it's own folder on the NAS drive (Year11 > 11%username, Year10 > 10%Username etc...). If I log in as an administrator and browse to the parent folder for the user I'm presented with the above error EVEN THOUGH I'M LOGGED IN AS THE ADMINISTRATOR!. If I browse (as an administrator) to the other folders (Year10, Year09 etc...) they will open fine. Does anyone else have this issue and is there a better solution than re-imaging? Therefore saving me time.
