  1. I tested the processor and it was hitting 90oC and I had to turn it off.
  2. Hmm, I need to check if my current machine is economically repairable. If it is not then I will be ordering that lot.....
  3. I put it on my Barclaycard and then paid it off.
  4. Well, just off of the phone to the expired warranty team and I had a mini heart attack when I was quoted the price. I was quoted £70 just to fix the wifi issue. This would not fix any of the other issues, just the WiFi issues. I am wondering what my next options should be. Does anyone have any ideas for what I should do? I want to avoid having to replace the PC however (as I think you have noticed), I am in the process of specifying a new rig.
  5. I can take the Blu-ray drive out of my current machine and this uses SATA. Thanks Harry
  6. I will be using it upstairs where I can not get Ethernet and power line is awful in this house. I also notice faster speeds over ac on my phone.
  7. Hmm, would have to see when it is as I am due to have my eye operated on in the next 6 months and it will leave me out of action for a bit.
  8. I am considering calling the Expired Warranty team at Dell tomorrow. I have found the phone number here.here.
  9. Don't trust Dell with what they did during the delivery. It was late and left in Poland. I am thinking of taking it to a repair shop and seeing what they have to say.
  10. Hi all, Following on from my earlier thread about my desktop, I have decided to try and build one. I primarily use it for gaming. I have a few requirements: a) Ability to accept my current 2tb SATA drive b) Have an SSD + an other HDD (At least 1 tb) So I can use 3 drives at most c) I need to be able to drive 3 screens with games at 1080 (Counterstrike and others) d) 802.11ac wireless for 5ghz. e) Must be under £1200 I do not mind AMD/Intel and AMD/Nvidia. Thanks Harry
  11. It is 2 years old and out of warranty The WiFi has just died.....damn you to the deepest depths of hell Dell...
  12. Any ideas? Is it economically worth repairing?
  13. Music, geeks, geeky stuff, more geeks, massive fires, fun and a hell of a lot more geeks. All in 1 place.
  14. Well, I have been using a reinstalled version of Windows and it is still giving issues, it suddenly turned itself off several times. Then, the USB ports stopped working on the front.
  15. No ISCT on this.
  16. If there was an EduFest, it would make travel worthwhile.
  17. Hi all, My Dell PC has been giving me some grief. I have written a post on the Dell forums about it, but I wanted to post here so that you wonderful people can advise. My post is here. Does anyone have any ideas? Have a nice easter everyone. Thanks Harry
  18. Yeah, what about if the teacher showed a video, it would be good if that could take over the full screen.
  19. Could you get a little discrete headset for the teacher to wear. You can get some good wireless ones that can do the audio.
  20. Took this ages ago in the local park:
  21. Do what some little sh*t did at school and sign him up to several inappropriate websites using his work email.
  22. I sort of have a window but it is high up. I am not in work over the easter holiday. If you look out of my window, all you see is a some weeds and a back hedge.
  23. Thus could be used as a public record of service. Seeing as it is taxpayers money, then people deserve to know what service is being gotten for their money.
  24. I know I am not from Birmingham and so should not be sticking my nose in, but I have a suggestion. Why don't Link2ICT set up a public open blog that they can explain issues and downtimes on. Down here in Hertfordshire, our LEA has a blg which they have thoroughly updated, despite recent performance issues. The blog is at HICS | Hertfordshire Internet & Connectivity Services: Technical knowledge base I am sure the LEA team would not mind this being used as an example.
  25. 100 Meg each way here. We get about 80 Meg each way during a standard day.
