Sims definitely don't support importing from Nova-T4 anymore - or does the guy do the timetable in Nova-t4 then 'type it up' into 6? We were quite 'slow' to move to Nt6 - we never used modelling and construction, and for the first few years we used NT6 then exported to NT4 to problem solve. Looking back - last time we did that was July 2012!! Gareth: I really think you probably need to be using NT6 to export to sims and probably using it for the construction also by now ;/

Dell recommend not to use Raid 5 and to use Raid 6 - on the basis that as drive sizes increased, they started seeing more problems with rebuilding raid 5 from hotspares i believe.

Also see what time you have set for "Agent heartbeat". We have ours currently set to 13 minutes - but I believe that's because I increased it back in 2011 with the solus BA due to hitting tolerance issues - I think the default is 5 minutes and if so, should be left at that you should find that the sims.net shortcut goes to simsload - and I think one of the new features in 3.10.88 (latest solus released a month ago) was to make simsload kick off a solus3 update if someone tries to run sims and it's out of date. On a heartbeat, solus will ty and do a discovery of fms, sims then discover, but those heart beat checks on the agent take <1 second to complete here, so I wouldn't worry too much about the order personally c:\program files\solus 3\systemlog.txt (and to a lesser extent)c:\programdata\capita\solus3\deployments\ is where solus logs on local pc. There's server logs in similar locations also, however as it's working but slower you'd hope - i'd start off with the agent systemlog.txt

How many PC's ? Do you have the agents on the pc i.e. is the problem just the upgrade, or is it also getting the agents on ? as you mention you are a new user If all the agents are on and showing up: a) Settings -> Solus 3 -> Deployments. There's an option titled "concurrent downloads". I increased this to 25 many years ago when talking to capita support - not sure if this is still higher then the default, but that's one thing to speak to your sims support people about potentially. b) On the same screen (And be careful not to tick the 'auto deploy' options - there's an autodownload - we've got that ticked for between 00:00 and 23:59 on both the updates and the deployments tab. I don't want sims to auto install, however if it can stage the files to the PC's before I kick off a deployment, that's a different matter. It can be quite time consuming for the actual deployment in the software to run (i.e. when you actually click deploy for the first time), however for the most part you should find it does work a lot more smoothly than it used it - i.e. client should try and kick off an install when loaded if out of date etc now. Have a look at the local agent logs (in the solus3 directory) on the agent, and see if it's indicating it's downloaded/downloading or what in first instance.

Putting on a end user hat, i'd expect an application to never crash. How easy it is to fix is another matter. I suspect there is a lot of school office staff in schools across the country that would appreciate sims not crashing on them half way through ending student data and costing them time though.

Let see, any credentials hap stores are in app_data\ (Which asp.net/IIS should block access to by default), it's forced to run over https so you can't sniff traffic etc etc. Could someone use a linux distribution to do a brute force password attack via hap/ldap etc - sounds more likely. have you got IIS logs that would cover last few months of hap activity ?

I just vaguely recall our license supplier saying that i'd probably want to do 0365 in both cases for features - whereas i'm not sure that's actually the case. i.e. i think it's VLK office 2016 and then 365 education if you have the benefit activated for students/tsaff.

Hello, Just trying to work out what we are best to deploy on site, when looking at moving form office 2013. On school owned PC's, do we have the option to do office 2016 + office 365 proplus - or as it's not fixed users on the PC - is it just 2016 that's the option ? (with office 365 proplus being what students would run at home)

watchguards M4600 is on google for 21k (with a 3 year subscription) - without any educational discount - they advertise that as being able to support upt to 11Gbps of UTM traffic - if you know a school with a 10gbps internet connection, please pm me the name as i want a job there ;)

we've been using watchguard products here - they seem to come in at under 10k for 3 years - so 6k pa seems a lot for the original poster

@ITGuyWestMidlands , @nickbro, I can get the minify =false fix committed, however it seems to me that moment.min.js isn't getting included - nick: do you have a nuget config that you've not checked in? In terms of this "mess" - if I try adding moment.min.js, setting minify=false, i'm then just getting a stack overflow / out of stack space error - which i don't personally know how to diagnose in this case - any thoughts on why i'm seemingly seeing different behaviour to you guys? [i'm using same version of moment.min.js as itguywestmidlands and also tried latest.

As it's the sensible approach - however, i'm also pretty sure now that as UCAS make some information available on their websites, and so do some of the boards - we are at the point where the students kinda know how well/badly they've done, before the arrive to collect the envelope. In terms of sims, we would be set up to do it - as we set all students email address in sims to their school email address - have parents email address under each individual parents record.

Just had this one when going through student applicants and adding lots of photos. Once supportnet comes back (as it's currently down for me ;/) I will log a case so it can get triaged with the others. The "problem" is going to be what the regional broadband consortium's can do. MITM's are "easy" to do if you own firewall - you can make a choice whether to issue and trust a certificate on your firewall that can implement a MITM attack. However, whether adding a certificate controlled by someone else to every PC in the AD is a good idea... - but as previous poster said - as a country we need to understand what's going on - as trying to block content on the internet if someone wants to find it / get around it is almost impossible...

@jinnantonnixx - OK - that looks like a different issue to 1508-3368857 [which was my intouch/messages on homepage slow leak over time issue]. Can you ensure you log this one with capita and preferably post case number here. Given your description - I know sims crashes out on our admissions lady and causes her grief in June each year, but i've never bothered to diagnose long enough to log a decent report. I'll then test on Monday 4th January (or in the first week), and log a case with sims if I can reproduce the same issue. I'm was planning to leave redgate's stuff running whilst using sims for a day and see what else showed up I think initially i used: !gchandles !DumpHeap -stat and then did a run of: .foreach (location {!DumpHeap -type System.Windows.Forms.NativeMethods+WndProc -short} ) {!gcroot -all ${location} } to try and see if i could identify what Having said the above, and to be perfectly honest - when i posted on forum in here, I downloaded a 14 day trial of redgate's dotnet memory profiler and shoved it in a vm, did a before/after snapshot, and let it compare. That took about 15 minutes of time, and seemed to identify exactly what was going on. [My original windbg attempt, whilst showing what object, took slightly longer, and didn't get me as far as identifying the cause] I wrote a reverse proxy in dotnet a couple of years back, which was a good exercise at the time in diagnosing issues in long running apps, and exhausting resources (e.g. network sockets)
