Yes i have the same setup but when i go up a level you can see the shares on the server. Can you suggest any ideas why it might be doing this

Can anyone please help me I have a network Server 2003 and XP clients, we are running a Group Policy on 5 separate OU's. When the users are running any office application Word... When you go to open and then click on the icon labelled "UP ONE LEVEL" it is showing files on the server. Is there any way i can remove that icon or better still remove access to the server where there home directory is? When they type in \\servername it is showing the shares and folders. Is there away i can stop users seeing the servers. Steve

The paging file is 1.47 Gb and the server has 1Gb of memory.

How does BGinfo work if you want to specify a desktop, like a current we have folders that make up the desktop that come from the server, how would i impement that so the folders appear on the desktop using BGInfo?

What is shadow copying? I have backups being scheduled at 8.00pm every night but nothing is scheduled during the day because pupils are using the server.

Hello, I have a Windows 2003 server and I have a big problem. It performs file management for the curriculum domain. But before anybody comes to school 7.30am the hard drive light is on constant I look at the performance in control panel and the paging file and memory is at 100%. The processor goes up and down but never reaches 100%. I have tried to look in the event viewer but there is nothing to suggest a problem. So this error occurs first thing in the morning and during the day, the hard drive light is on constant and the paging file and memory maxed out!! There should not be a lot happening on the server at any time it is only transferriung small files. I have tried everything but cannot resolve the issue Can anyone please help Steve

Hi All, I am currently using Con2Prt to connect the users to the dedicated printer in their IT room. But the problem i am having is that sometimes if the user goes into a different IT room it will pick up the previous printer from the previous room. Is there a solution to this or an alternative method or program i can use like VBS but i am new to VBS and it all all confuses me. Currently the con2prt file checks the room in the autoexec.bat and then using the batch file connects to the dedicated printer. But sometimes as i say it still connects to the previous printer that was used. Can anyone please help Steve

I have an exchange server 2003 and clients Outlook 2003. One of the users noticed yesterday that if they go to File and Open then Other users files and type in a member of staff, they are able to access their inbox, calendar and basically all outlook items. Can this be stopped ? Hope someone can help as this is a Major Security Issue steve
