  4. And a low blood count from hours slaving away in assessments!
  5. @vikpaw Hi, That's exactly what I do when I need to - I was just wondering whether the OP was doing it that way - can be tricky unless you've had a few cups of coffee first!
  6. Hi, One more question. When you say you updated the result sets, how did you do this? Did you delete all the old ones and re-enter them or did you do some search/replace method? Regards Gary
  7. Hi Jrma, Assuming you're using SIMS? You'll need a global marksheet with all your assessments going across. Then export the marksheet to excel (formatted) Thee is a hidden column which you will need to unhide. This has the student UPN numbers in. Once that is unhidden, copy all the data to the clipboard. In 4Matrix, use the spreadsheet option and paste in all the data. You'll probably need to split the names to SURNAME Forename. Then Map each of the assessments in turn to the relevant award in the 4Matrix database. Once this is done, save the Map for later use. This should get you started. Hope this helps Regards Gaz
  8. Hi, I agree with BKGarry - I also go one step further and add the Discover Groups to relevant templates (Tracking Templates, Subject Templates etc). I then add staff as Supervisors of the Discover Groups in SIMS so that they can see the marksheets in My Marksheet Entry. This has the added value of these members of staff receiving a message the next morning whenever anyone joins or leaves the Discover Group(s). Works very well here. Regards Gaz
  9. Woo Hoo! Then the OP problem will be sorted then... 1. Create a Discover group containing Years 7 - 11 2. Drag out the Timeline Graph 3. Drag the Discover Group onto it 4. Remove the original series. Hey Presto. Just have to wait till summer... Regards Gaz
  10. Addendum: Discover allows a graph of Student Totals by: User Defined Group Assessment Defined Group But not Discover Group...
  11. Hi, If it was possible to drag a Discover Group onto a Graph, then this would be easy!
  12. Hi, Check this out for Spring 2014... Regards Gaz The pivotal Performance Indicator functionality from Examinations Organiser has been moved into SIMS. This will enable us to maintain and improve the PI functions with more ease. The following menu routes have been removed from Examinations Organiser and are now accessible only from SIMS: - Tools | Examinations | Edit PI Data - Tools | Examinations | PI Reports - Tools | Examinations | PI Setup The following menu route has been moved from under the Statutory Returns menu route in SIMS: - Tools | Examinations | Import Qualification Data The PI Cohort button that was previously available from the Edit PI dialog in Examinations Organiser has not been replicated in SIMS. This functionality can still be accessed from within Examinations Organiser via Tools | Group Manager PI Cohort. A new permisisons Group called PI Setup has been provided to enable you to access the Exams PI menu routes in SIMS. Improvements to the Display of Grades in the Edit PI Area - Tools | Examinations | Edit PI Data o The order in which grade sets are displayed from the Grades drop-down list has been corrected to display in descending order of points values. Inclusion of Non EDI Results Achieved in a Previous Season - Tools | Examinations | Edit PI Data o Once the PI data has been collated, PI or non EDI results that were entered in a previous season are displayed in the PI Calculated Values page and are included in all calculations. Save Manual Discounting when Re-Collating - Tools | Examinations | Edit PI Data o Any manual Discounting can be saved so that when running the Collate routine again, the ticks (or unticks) are retained and included in subsequent calculations. This can be repeated multiple times. Produce Performance Indicator Reports in SIMS - Tools | Examinations | PI Reports o It is now possible to produce Performance Table reports in SIMS, enabling the output and analysis of the Performance Indicator results. Enter QAN in Edit PI using wrong case - Tools | Examinations | Edit PI Data o When entering a QAN in the Add PI Result dialog, if a letter forms an integral part of the QAN sequence, it is possible to enter this using the wrong case, e.g. 1004291x. Where this occurs, clicking the Save button changes the case of the letter automatically so that it matches the case of the QAN as it was imported from the Performance Measures file. o In addition, where results have previously been added against a QAN with a letter with the wrong case, this must be matched and corrected retrospectively. Changes to the Performance Measures File (For schools in Northern Ireland only) - Tools | Examinations | Import Qualification Data o Schools in Northern Ireland are no longer required to import the Performance Measures.XML file into SIMS. All the QANs approved for use in Northern Ireland are present in the NIEFQAN.XML file and this is the only file now required. Inclusion of AS Points in Residuals but not PI (For schools in Northern Ireland only) - Tools | Performance | Exams | Import Qualification Data o AS points have now been added to the NIEFQAN file. As a direct result, AS Residuals can now be calculated when generating the Certification Broadsheet report and the Group Performance Analysis report although they are still not included in PI Calculations. Editing and Deletion of External Results (For schools in Northern Ireland only) - Tools | External Results | Manual Entry o Only results entered manually through this route can be edited or deleted. This ensures that any changes made are correctly reflected in the PI Performance Calculations. Additional Columns for A*-C and A*-E in the Level 3 Detailed Report (For schools in Northern Ireland only) - Tools | Examinations | PI Reports o When producing the Performance Tables report based on Level Age 16-18, the Detailed output displays additional columns for the grade bands of A*-C and A*-E.
  13. Hi, 100%. Look out for people coming into your office with a haunted look. You're more likely, in fact, to be involved in 'Debrief' sessions. Regards Gary
  14. Hi, I will always be happy to help! Been using 4Matrix for just over a year and, although it has it's irritating bits (doesn't all software...) we love it. Results day was devine... Regards Gary
  15. WooHoo! I thought so, just can't remember getting the missive... Thanks. Regards Gary
  16. Hi, I think I'm right, but can someone confirm that we don't need to submit KS3 TA this year? Regards Gary
  17. Hi, Can't be done I'm afraid. Only way is to create a comment aspect and then add the teacher name in there. Fraught with problems though - I hate static data like that. You can add the Class Name though, as long as the Template has a course link. This may go someway in helping them. Hope this helps Regards Gary
  18. Unfortunately, you can only say that if you work at Grange Hill School... Oi! Zammo! Just Say NO!
  19. HI ICTLady, Firstly, I'd simply say no. Personalising columns is fraught with difficulties as you say - just a load of work for a little aesthetic pleasing to teachers. Even ignoring the Teacher initials bit, it's possible that next year they'll be doing Macbeth instead of Romeo and Juliet! This will just become a(nother) millstone for you to carry round. Perhaps they would be happy if you were to change the Notes in the template. This box appears at the top of any related marksheets when the teacher opens one. Then make sure that the teachers send you an email with the text that should go there, perhaps along these lines: AutAssess1a: Romeo and Juliet (GPS) AutAssess1b: Macbeth (ABC) AutAssess2a: Reading Skills (XYZ) AutAssess2b: Writing Skills (GPS) Regards Gary
  20. Hi, You could try here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications?departments%5B%5D=department-for-education Spooky what it says on the page though: 1,984 publications by Department for Education Big Brother is watching.....
  21. Seriously though, check out this spanner... https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/269438/update_progress_8_measure_secondary_school_accountability_framework_reforms.pdf Regards Gaz
  22. Hi, I've done my own analysis: Performance 8 + Attainment 8 + Linear Grades = Potentially Massive Systems Development/Rewrite Therefore the main question is whether to: a) Ask for a Raise (Online) b) Start up a Consultancy Business c) Take a 3 Year Sabbatical Discuss.... Regards Gaz
  23. Hi CAM, For sublevels, how about creating your own aspects and putting them in a marksheet? Gaz
  24. Oooh - irritating. I suppose the only way to check is through Reports/Student List/General Student List (in SIMS).
  25. Hi all Quote: 1) ULN checking is broken by reporting blank students as missing ULNs. Checking needs to be done manually instead of using Create and Validate in SIMS. DfE needs to fix this. I think this is leavers - Census is incorrectly looking at Leavers and, when they find no ULN for them is reporting them. However, because they've left, no names appear on the error report. DFE Is aware and have issued another manifest to ignore leavers in the process. Capita are dragging their heels on this as the new one doesn't fix all the issues (some mentioned above). I think they are hoping to wait and only have to issue one fileset. Regards Gary
