I'm tring to install Itunes via GP for a suite of windows XP SP2 workstations from a Win2003 domain. I've got the MSI for Itune from a downloaded exe, and when I run it on workstation manually all is fine. I've added to the Software Installation GPO, and it appears fine. I run gpupdate /force on a client and reboot, but Itunes doesn't install, if I look at the gpresults both in GPMC and using gpresult on the clients Itunes is not listed as an application, but all the others I've added today are (2animate and flash). No entries in the eventlogs and all the permissions are the dame on this MSI as all the others, very odd There is one enty in the Domains Application Log "software installation encountered an unexpected erroe while reading from the MSI file \\server\software\itunes\itunes.msi" The error was not serious to justifly halting the operation. The following error was encountered tje operation completed sucessfully" Any help?

Intresting The laptops are useing the Intel Pro Set - with Pre logon connect and the software is in the 20meg size. What do people think of the Windows wireless cleint?
-
Does anyone else have issues with software which is installed by Group Policy, onto laptops using a wireless connection. Some software installs fine but others don't and will only install when a network cable is used. Any Ideas

Happens on this site as started recently. nothing in ISA logs. Any ideas?

Have to recommend ClientDiag.exe, not sure you can still get it from MS because it was used with WSUS 2 but it still works with WSUS 3

A teacher thinks the cachepilot isn't caching pages. I would like a nice simple way to prove it is (other than it loads faster)

Odd one this... How do I know if the web page I'm looking at in IE, has been cached by my proxy (with out looking at the proxy)

Booting from the USB device is not an issue. I'd just like to choose which cd image on the device to use. I work at many different sites using many different servers/systems

Is there a peace of software that will log when a user or program attempts to access a file they do not have access to, and display the file/folder details. Having problems with what looks like an access permissions problem..

I used the MS File Server Migration Toolkit when I had to excatly the same job, worked ok but not quite as expected (in that it put all the folders it copied into a folder... maybe I missed something, in theuser guide), not a big problem. It did take a very very long time to copy the data, something to do over night.

Is this posible and can anyone recommend a way to implement it. I would like to put all my OS and office install CD's on to my portable hard disk. But in a way that allow me to boot from the portable drive and choose which OS's I want to install. I'd also want to be able to access the drive in Windows so I can have the Office install run from it So boot from drive 1.Install XP -->starts up XP install 2.Install 2K -->start 2k install This is to save be carrying round loads of CD, using a server etc is not an option. Cheers

Its not a bad idea, but i'm tring to cut down duplicate photos taking up space, so am trying for a one location for everything. if I did a shared area teachers would just copy the pictures over.

Is there a quick and easy way of redirecting everyones My Pictures folder to a different location (on the server). I already redirect the My Docs folder my GPO, but would like everyones pictures in one place. Thanks

Had this one before - this fixed it for me In the policy where you are setting the wall paper also set Computer config\admin temp\system\froup policy\user group policy loopback\ this will apply settings in the user section to the computer, liek the desktop wall paper
