We leased PC for a good few years and found it nothing but trouble and a lot of hard work, at the end of the lease the companyes (and the companyes changed hands every other week) want the equipment back as if brand new, I.e no stickers or marks of any kind after 3 years in a school..... and if the kit didnt pass there inspection you got a huge fine. Thats just experance as the person who spent all his time cleaning them.

Just checking I thinking the right things If a user logs on to the domain on thier laptop the domain policys are applied If then then go home and log on to the laptop using the cached user, the same policy is applied correct? (so if the schools proxy was set in the policy when they went home, it would still look for the schools proxy) Thanks

My Google skills have improved in the last ten minutes, found the answer! Option Explicit Dim objShell set objShell = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Shell") '---------------------------------------------------------------- ' Don't edit above here ' ' Below is an example of associating PDF files with AcroRd32.exe ' You can change this to whatever you need, and just ' copy and paste the line over again to add more associations. '----------------------------------------------------------------- addFileAssociation ".wmv", "wmplayer.exe" '------------------------- ' Don't edit below here '------------------------- Sub addFileAssociation( fileExt, whichApp ) If ( Left(fileExt, 1) <> "." ) Then fileExt = "." & fileExt End If objShell.RegWrite "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\" & fileExt & "\Application", whichApp End Sub

Yep suppliers have so far, Blamed the BIOS battery - but as the times + dates not changing dropped that reason Blamed the power packs and have replaced some, made no difference. next target is the laptop trollies, but as they are not all in trollies this one doesn;t hold water either
