  1. I'd have to agree with Plexer if you go down the portable route it will take a lot of convincing SMT that you need a proper installation later. Depending on who you talk to the cost could be any thing from 5K to 10K so I can understand your predictament. Wes
  2. Ahh a Techie after my own heart lol! So did I! lol Good laugh and the story lines always seemed a little more involved in Tom Bakers day. Wes
  3. 22K thats a good wage in a better environment I can see why someone would go back! Wes
  4. Come on I'm still relatively young and I've watched at least one episode from each of the doctors (Not when originally aired of course!) Wes
  5. Sounds fair so theoretically you could write a NTAuth section using PHP and code the web MIS pages yourself from the web hook? Wes
  6. Well we have outside internet pages and our extranet (VLE/VLM) pages hosted on two different systems with a link to the other. I suppose I could code an MySQL/PHP setup to allow authenticated users to see specific info this could take some time though. A report in SIMS could be generated and output to CSV then read in has anyone done anything like this? Wes
  7. Will the Mambo site allow authorised/authenticated users to access attendance SIMS data? Does anyone know if there's a solution to this? Wes
  8. Okay so our LEA has provided a VLE for the borough from Teknical. We've been experimenting with Moodle in-house. The problem we're facing is wether either of these will ever get a way of showing specific MIS info from SIMS to Staff and Parents via an online route. Does anyone know if wither of these is working toward thias I know Capita is but that VLE hasn't been mentioned by our LEA and I doubt wether we'll pay for it when a VLE has been provided! Wes
  9. Version 3.04. Not sure why this is happening other than its an RM network there's no difference! Wes
  10. Email the number to me Cheesedog. I've got to look at a few more though and the APs must be PoE. Wes
  11. Does anyone else use this? I'm having difficulty installing this software. Once the setup has been run it asks you to restart the machine. Having done that I log in again as admin and run the program it then does a configuring software screen etc.. which takes about 5 minutes to finish then it asks you to restart again this repeats everytime you try and run it. The pupils can't even see the program shortcut even as admin it shows up as a shortcut without an icon (before the second restart at least) we're using CC3 so I've allowed the exe files to be run and the path they are located in but still nothing. Does anyone have a way round this at all? Wes
  12. What do you use if anything for Virtual CD is there a linux based open source project out there that could be used for Windows Clients etc..? Wes
  13. @Snuffkins: I have to say I didn't have any of those problems A couple of crashes that a log out log in fixed is about all and they started with the same amount of time as they had when it crashed. 50 Kids a time here in 2 sets of 25 and we rarely had anything to worry about. Second Session went just as well, we even had a pupil turn up for the second session who wasn't here for the first and it made him start on the first session of the test. Everything just worked for us. Wes
  14. Our LEA is pushing Teknical's VLE anyone ever used this and would like to comment? Thanks Wes
  15. That'll be standard I'd have thought Ramesys? Wes
  16. I'm looking for a company in the west midlands which specialises in Wireless Installs - I was going to use TCPIP but they have recently folded. Any ideas? Wes
  17. @Ric_ Would you show me the script to do this? Thanks Wes
  18. Is it worth doing if as petectid says we'll all be out in the cold in about 5 years anyway? Of course if the first few LEAs have nothing but problems this may change? If the school decides it doesn't want to outsource 1). Where do they stand? and 2). What happens if they don't does the BSF just say no you can't have a new school built or does it curtail your ICT part of the BSF fund? Wes
  19. Excellent we don't use third party themes or modules at present (I'm still setting it up lol). Is there any documentation that shows how you'd setup a site to allow screen reader or a text based version? Thanks! Wes
  20. I know we do not need to go down the 1gb per port route but looking through this document all switches should be managed and be CoS or even QoS compliant? Would smart switches do for cabinets feeding rooms? We currently use HP Procurve 4108 for the core is this sufficent? Or will it need upgrading to? I'm looking at the upgrade for next April anyway but I'd like to have in place all the costs beforehand. Wes
  21. That answers a few things I have that thankfully so should be fine. Wes
  22. Is there any way of setting up moodle to be compliant with the W3C standard? Just looking through Bectas Technical Instituation Infrastructure and it would need it? Wes
  23. That would make sense. Having looked through most of the spec it looks like I may have to price up replacing most if not all the switches in this school. (Which I was going to do, but now it's gonna cost a whole lot more!). Wes
  24. Could someone tell me what is meant by 4.1.3: Caching and Content Delievery second bullet point: Caches shall not be in-line with the instituation's broadband connection? We currently have a content-cache server which redirects people to the proxy server and then outside would this be counted as in-line? Wes
  25. Well judging from the website they only sell to Public sectors schools/colleges/unis/lea etc.. So no point in sending them to a PC mag and saying review this for us but remember 99% of your readership can't buy from us lol! Never had any problems with Stone Computers after sales or pre. Might be an account manager thing? Wes
