Hello All, I work for a school improvement organisation, London Connected Learning Centre. We are currently working on a feasibility study into a nation-wide learning project for a major cultural organisation. Part of our research is into the state of broadband and filtering across the country (Average speeds, rural availability, connection types (fttp, fttc, etm etc). As a starting point we have broken our research up into the regions of the country covered by the Regional Broadband Consortia. We have been informed that WMnet doesn't actually provide or procure broadband connectivity any longer and that this is now left up to the local authorities, on an individual basis, within the region, to work with their partners to supply Broadband and filtering to schools. Are there any network managers or technicians here that would have a bit of time to talk to us and give as an indication of their broadband, filtering and virtual learning options within the area, and for us to potentially use your school as a case study. We would be extremely grateful for any help. Please feel free to post here or PM for further info

Just updated to the latest Autumn 2 release - after being told about Autumn 1 being pulled by a Capita tech last week, and workstations are now crashing when trying to update lunch money balances. Lovely, anyone else?

Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone here can recommend a SIMS expert, support company or consultancy with expertise in using and managing data (i.e. back end technical use of SIMS and ability to use data)

Foldr is nice, and much easier to install than IIS. No exageration in saying I got it up and running in a proxied environment in 15minutes. I ran virtual box and imported the appliance, configured TCP/DNS/Proxy info using the CLI and that was that. The ios app is slick and student friendly, much slicker than WebDavNav for example. It will let you do as much with it as Apple will let you at this moment in time. However, Foldr IS expensive IMO but its upto your SMT whether it's value for money, I think any school serious about iOS intergration into the curriculum will give it some serious consideration

Weird situation for you. 4 Servers. DFS works on 3 servers DFS sort of works on the remaining 1 server, but not in the way that we want. If I add the server as member to the replication group using a local path on the C:\ drive, it works no problems, the health report shows no issues and replication happens full circle between all of the members servers, If however I use our J volume, which is a brand new 5TB volume (absolutely crucial that this volume is included in our DFS setup), no joy, this also happens on our G volume which was our old storage array. I get no event log messages explaining why this is the case, the only clue I have is the DFS health report. When using a folder on the C volume, the health reports lists the C drive as a volume where replicated folders exist, no errors or warnings. When using the G or J volumes, the DFS health report gives back no errors as before, but it also doesn't list the G or J volumes (it does this fine for the other working servers), it still lists the C volume because of the sysvol folder living there. When attempting the use this problematic server as the primary designated member, the DFS health reports states: "Reference member returned no replicated folders. Description: Backlog calculations cannot be performed because the reference member returned zero replicated folders" - almost as if it can't see or recognise the folder targets I added into the replication group. I've searched high and low for a solution to this but to no avail. I was hoping someone else in the education sector may have come across it.

Have used the registry method but it only started to work as intended when changing the proxyenable type to update rather than replace. I left the other two values as replace.

I'm not denied access when logging into the Management Studio, but I'm unable to view the Solus database in the tree when going to the user mappings section, theres a warning message saying some of them aren't avaliable. In the database tree it is there but you can't expand it to view it's properties, so I can't actually assign the user permissions or ownership over the solus database. I think...I'm just going to have to contact Capita. Things were fine before we had a virtual drive/RAID array failure...although not sure why as nothing solus related was stored on that particular partition...and all of the data was restored regardless.

I've seen this happen before and sometimes it's simply been a case of logging into the server using the account that SOLUS3 was installed with. In this case, I've tried every single login known to me and I'l getting the following error message when connecting. Used to work fine a few weeks back using the domain administrator account. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Hello, Ive searched far and wide for a solution to this issue, and have stumbled across similar answers and some very unhelpful ones too. Basically, all of our computers have several media players installed. WMP, WinAmp and VLC. Winamp is currently the default, we would like to change this back to WMP. I know you can go onto a machine individually and reset the file associations or go through the "Set Default Programs and Access" option within control panel. But I am having difficulty trying to work out how to do this in a batch job. I thought of deploying a reg fix through an adm in group policy, but cant for the life of me find where this setting is stored in the registry. I also know that there is no out of the box gpo for this either. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. This is where i miss having Impero's key/mouse stroke script creator!
