So excited about Bett this year. I think it just getting out of school for a day that is doing it. been given a list of things to look at from the bursar and a "promise" that we are going to be investing in some if the ideas that I bring back next year. We'll wait to see that one. I just want my pinbadge and a lanyard, haha.

I am off coffee for January, down from 8 cups a day. Also alcohol, chocolate, cake (which isn't easy as I do loads of baking), and biscuits. Just trying to cut down a bit. Helps that I quite like green tea with lemon so still have something hot to drink.

I have one at work, has a picture of my two year old on so makes me happy every time I look at it. Don't need one for home as just have my MacBook pro so no mouse.

My technician was handed a Macintosh SE 30 the other day to say thanks for fixing a laptop for someone. It's from 1985 or 1986. He was really excited as he collects Macs. I know what you are all thinking but he's ok, I promise, don't hold it against him, lol.

No sure if it helps but one we found was if it didn't pull the information through it was because they were underlined due to an unknown spelling. I added the word to the dictionary and saved the report. When we run it the information was pulled through.

I have sent an email asking about the post. If I get any more information I will post it here for the rest of you.

This is basically the job I have just given up in my school, looked online but cannot find it listed on their website. Will be seriously contemplating going for it.

Replacing backup server so I can finally rid myself of Backup Exec in favour of Veeam. Also looking at the smart screens. We need to start replacing all 80 of our interactive whiteboards as they are getting quite old and starting to get holes and stuff in and I am thinking long term that they would make for a better replacement but I am holding out on judgement until I see them in action at the Bett show.

We should have colonised at least Mars by now and started construction of our space based armada for when all of these scary aliens appear to try and take over the world. All of our sci fi films are basically telling us it is going to happen any time soon so shouldn't we have made a start by now?

@Ecclesbury, would you recommend going on a VBA course or just buying the book and self teaching, did you think you got much from having an actual trainer there in front of you?

I like the look of the SSAT qualification as a starting point, a nice certificate for my wall anyway, lol. I have always liked the thought of getting a Phd and getting everyone to call me Doctor, haha.

With all of the work we do looking at various qualifications I have a quick question. Do any of you actually have a qualification in data? My background is in IT and i have a degree in that field but as part of my continuous professional development I was speaking to my headteacher about getting some official training within data manipulation or something similar. As if we are not all busy enough, lol.

Quiet times, what is this term you talk about? I have been doing the data here for almost a year now and have yet to have a quiet period, probably because I also do the timetable and also look after the IT as well. I tend to do most of my data stuff at home in the evenings and at weekends as I am that busy. I do have an assistant to handle a lot of the mundane tasks and she also helps me proof read all of the reports that have comments in as well.

This may be a bit of a noob question but how to you work out the grade for a Y7 pupil if they have been entered for the L6 tests? This is my first year of having to do the target setting and am struggling to find information on this. thanks in advance.
