Scheduling digitial signage TVs to turn on and off

I know its a bit low-fi but... Plug-in 7 day digital timer: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics ?? -
We have recently bought some new machines (now with a fresh XP image on) which are attached to Hanns-g ha191 monitors via DVI. The problem is that when we set a 1024x768 resolution on the Administrator account and then swith to a domain user, windows switches to the native 1280x1024 resolution on the screen. We have tried turning off DDC/DI on the monitor, wasn't sure if this would be affecting it, but turning it off didn't help. The reason why I put this in the Windows forum is because I have seen something to do with the registry via a quick google search but am a bit stumped. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Happy to post any further details if needed.

Hi all, Appologies if this is a silly question, but is it possible to make attachements read-only - Thus making users save their own copy of the file before editing it. Basically I'm fed up with trying to recover temp files etc when a user has accidently worked on a document and then not saved it to their docs. Many thanks, Pete

We installed a couple of the Epson boards over the Summer and I think they are very smart. The short throw projector is clear and the added bonus of not having to move existing whiteboards is very handy. Plus Epson will come into your school and give you a demo free of charge I believe.

I don't have a VGA cable long enough, and I need to be descrete with cabling as it is in a part school/part public sport centre which is open 6am-10pm. Thanks for your point about the vga/cat5 box - this is the kind of opinion I wanted

Use what you already have...?
-
One, ease of cable routing. Two, the splitter I have has 2 VGA outputs and a Cat5 output and I'm already using the 2 vgas. didn't really want to hear that it's a converter problem any thoughts on why its very intemitent? I guess a new converter is the solution...

I'd definately recommend setting up a joint email address for your iPads as a quick (and free) solution. For those 'it needs to be done now' classroom situations. Plus you can always monitor the mailbox from your desk.

Will be trying a terminal server type solution for our 20 iPads over half term, will post if I have any success. I did set up file browser first of all but found it wasn't very useful. It's ok for giving students resources to look at, but thats about it. We also have a single ipad@ email address set up on them all so they can at least send attachments to and from them quickly if needed. does anyone have a slick solution to getting videos off the iPads appart from 'syncing with itunes' when the device is connected? Its quite time consuming at the moment.

Have tested the cable and it is fine, don't think thats the issue. The CAT5 does pass a couple of mains cable but not for any substantial period, nor does it run parallel to any. I could try a different monitor on it next i guess, but I really wanted to establish whether it was a known plasma issue on not. Do people generally think it looks like a CAT% problem then?
-
Dear All, Your help would be gratefully accepted. I occationally have the issue photographed below and am not sure whether it is a VGA over CAT5 issue or the old Plasma screens issue. The TV is pretty old, about 4-5 years, CAT5 run of about 15metres and the CAT5 adapters are fairly decent powered Kramer boxes. Thanks,
