I know I'm getting in to this discussion quite late, but thought I'd throw in my opinion too... I always used Insight, until The IT Index introduced themselves to me, their prices were always fantastic, so couldn't justify using Insight - I was let down by late deliveries far too many times, but carried on using them until Insight could offer us the Catalist pricing... I do still use The IT Index, but if we're desperate for something, it'll usually go straight to Insight... I must admit, then in cases where delivery was late - Richard (posting above) always got it sorted fairly quickly

Have a look at NEWT Freeware - that's awesome for rebooting / shutting down PCs remotely I use it when logging on to a machine remotely as myself, so it reboots after a set time, just in case anything happens lol

You don't have to add PCs by IP Address do you? I've just seen this thread today and installed it earlier, tried it on one machine, but only added it by name rather than IP... That's a bit better than doing it by IP I guess, but still time consuming.

Yes, tried rebooting the original services I had a problem with are fine now, it's just the ASP, so I can't get access to the WUS and I've had to change all my intranets etc lol It's been suggested that I should upgrade to Server 2K3, which I'm thinking of doing, though to save disruption I'll have to put it off until half term. just one of those things I guess lol

I've blocked hotmail and yahoo etc for the pupils, but not for the staff yet. Might consider that to try to get them using the school email system. I thought every pupil had to have a school email account now? I could have sworn I'd seen and heard that from a few different sources.

I thought it was more like 4 or 5 students to 1 PC... anyway, I've never been asked about usage, but I keep a log based on the number of lessons a room is booked for - 2 rooms / total of 50 possible lessons per week - count the bookings and double it as a percentage - not perfect, but it works for me. We average about 80%-90% usage, low at the beginning of terms, a lot higher towards the end.

Hmmmm..... what if Application Server isn't in that list? There aren't any details under WorldWide Web Service either :s ASP.Net is in services, but won't start due to a logon failure... I'm on Windows Server 2000 by the way, not sure if that's different from 2003. Rick

Ok, reinstalled it without asp, and it's looking good, I can't remember how to add asp though... it's been that long since I did it... Can anyone refresh my memory? Rick

It doesn't rain but it pours Just back in after the Christmas break, Raid alarm going off The Disk's finished rebuilding now, and all appears to be fine... However, there are 4 services that won't start at startup, and won't let me start manually: Noone can access my room bookings site now, which is causing rather a lot of arguments Tried looking at IIS with the following result: Please someone help? I'm going to play about a bit and see if I can sort it, but if anyone can suggest something, I'd be happy to hear about it. Rick

High School was listed when I tried to register and the price was the lower of the 2 stated.

I've just gone through the registration process only stopped at the checkout... don't want to get into trouble for placing orders without the bursar's permission... It doesn't really ask for much info, just the department name, courses offered, number of students in course (all pupils now have to take ICT don't they? so that's all of them) and number of faculties in the dept... I can't find any info about exactly what's offered though, does anyone know if it's listed anywhere? Rick
