  1. HI! Yes I set it to take 100% of the C drive (32Gb SSD) no recovery partition and the image is around 15Gb, the reason I set it to 100% is that was the only way I could image Windows 10 (which I have aborted). TIA!
  2. HI! After not getting far with Windows 10 start menu, I have gone back to 8.1 (only 25 units) I can take off an image using MDT 2013 (this is completely up to date as for windows 10) all good, I create a task and make sure it take 100% of the disk (they are only 32Gb) add the newly captured image and all good. I kick off the the imaging process, it brings down the image and gets to apply image reboots and then I see this Windows error: Windows could not complete the installations. To install windows on this computer, restart installation. Looking around this could affect even normal installs, I check the size of the C: drive and it states 5,103,626 bytes free, now im a little rusty on this after only dealing in gigabytes and terabytes for many years but that is 5Mb???? Im lost at the moment and im sure its a real easy and obvious fix but after looking so hard I think I have gone to deep and need to pull back lol Thanks!! Steve
  3. OK I have imaged and it worked! However the start menu is broken it simply does not display when pressing the windows key or click, a bug? Thanks!
  4. OK having read this im using update 1 (MDT 2013) does this still apply for the release version of Windows 10? TIA!
  5. Hi! I am getting there but wondered if any of you successfully captured an image and then deployed it, I have captured but fails when deploying it with the above error after its almost done. Annoying!! Steve
  6. Ok got the adaptor but having issues taking of the image, so flattened it installed 8.1 fresh and now no mouse and no drivers available on the HP site LOL, will keep searching!
  7. We have the 'pro' one for education, I just ordered a USB to Ethernet, so will feedback :-) Thanks!!!
  8. Hi! Has anyone been able to image one, as it does not have a ethernet which is great! We have the education units so Windows 8.1 Pro but keen to create an image for the 25 we 'won'. Thanks!
  9. Hi! We are using 802.1x and working great on an existing SSID however we are pushing out a new SSID again with 802.1x with AES (currently TKIP) and the only way for the laptop to connect to the new SSID is connecting them to the ethernet and doing a GPUPDATE. We pushed out the new policy a while ago and was hoping the laptop would connect to the new SSID and then after a few weeks turn off the old one. Trying to get staff to hand in laptops is always a nightmare so keen to do this in the background. Any ideas, is it possible to push out new wifi settings for devices that only connect via wifi? Thanks! Steve
  10. Hi! After planning, meetings and red tape I almost got my order in for new servers and move to Server 2012 having been running 2K3 for 6 years. Now it may not happen until next year and wondered what other schools will still be using Server 2003 (Domain controllers and file servers etc) I guess many but interested to find out. Thanks!
  11. Hi! If we need to reset a users profile, we are seeing (which looks like when users use our laptops) the 'Redirectedprofile' folder is not being created correctly, it created the folder in the users home directly (as normal) but not all the other folders within it. anyone got any pointers on how to investigate something like this? We are using windows 2003 and windows 7. Thanks!!
  12. Hi! We are seeing occasionally stations having multiple user profiles (different usernames) with the same timestamp and then filling up the HDD, we do have a GPO that cleans profiles over 7 days, has anyone else seen this, gut is telling me a virus/malware. thanks!! Steve
  13. Hi, ok after trying a windows 7 host it does logon but take a very long time, is this normal? I was testing it with server 2012 which showed up the 'no logon servers available'! thanks!!
  14. Hi! I think I'm being dumb, I have a test setup of a DC 2012 and then created a second server (2012) and promoted it to become a replica domain controller (AD, DNS and DHCP) HOWEVER if I switch off the PDC workstations are unable to logon (no logon servers available) I have checked and they do get a IP from the SDC, am i missing something obvious?? Thanks!! Steve
  15. Hi! it was the point and print! but have not found a way to push the setting our centrally using GPO within server 2003 domain, so its a manual job! Thanks!
  16. Hi! Im taking over a network, and there is a minefield when it comes to GPO's! OK here is my issue: New printers work fine if an admin logs on adds the printer manually and installs the drivers from the network. However if the printers is pushed out via GPO for a user UNLESS the drivers are already installed no printer, if an admin logs on installs the drivers all fine. If the user wants to add the printer manually, within the network (this will be locked down once all working) it asks do you Trust this Printer, the user clicks yes, it states its copying the drivers (you see the progress bar) but at the end nothing no printer and looks like no drivers. Im aware of a GPO for software restrictions but cant find any logs to see if its another GPO blocking the installation, I have added the printer server path, and even disabled the GPO for Software Restriction. It just the drivers i need to push out, any help would be appreciated :-) Thanks! Steve
  17. Do we know if this is Google Chrome friendly?
  18. evolution and revolution, the revolution happened in 2010 when the iPad was announced, and yes I know MS had a tablet but it never took off (I used one and it was great!)
  19. Hi! Same here! We are looking at Mac Minis and Windows 7/Mac OSX and great to have a guide that could cracks some of the issues? TIA Steve
  20. Thanks all! I have had a response from Capita: You can add them to Personnel. No need to give them any contract, they just need a service term (and choose a best fit role when adding the term). Also untick the 'Eligible for SWR'. They are then available to be provisioned. If you tick teacher, they will see the staff space in SLG. They shouldn't come through to manage classroom staff and aren't visible by cover. Just about to give it a go! Thanks all!
  21. Do you use Sims Learning Gateway that has AD provisioning enabled?
  22. Hi! Because they are only temporary users here for a few weeks etc.. As I say I may have been mis-told...
  23. HI! We currently use Sims.NET and SLG and the AD provisioning service to provision users when created with Sims.NET are created within our AD. We have temporary users for example PGCE and need to create them an AD user account but is reliant on them being a staff member (I have been told). Is there a way we can add PGCE students to allow provisioning to work without them being employed by the school. I hope the above makes sense!! Steve
