In safe mode, you can log on as an admin user and it doesn't record an error in the log.

The error that is logged is in the Service Control Manager. Any suggestions?

I have isolated it to the Administrators group on the network. However, this problem is isolated to the one machine. There isn't a problem over the network as a whole. So obviously this machine has a problem. There was an msconfig utility run recently, and the screen that pops up after keeps popping up even after you check the box not to.

It may be an Active Desktop issue. Try rt clicking on desktop, go to themes, change the theme then change it back. I had a problem with Windows updates killing active desktop and that was the fix. It might work here, but it does sound also like a scripting error.

I have a a machine in an office that when you log in using all but the secretary's profile, it shuts down. I can log in with hers and the machine works fine. It also shuts down when I log in locally. Her permissions are limited. Any ideas?

I would love to answer that question, Stu. 8) Because that is the way the installers set it up . We just didn't catch it until we were updating. However, that was not the board we had trouble with. The others aren't hooked up both ways, but the driver looks for both connections on the older version (4.1.8). If it doesn't find it, it says the hardware is not connected.

Ok, check it out. We were using the 4.1.8 driver. Some of the boards were USB and others serial. We were playing around with the manual/auto detect. We knew no settings were needed for USB, so we were trying to figure out what the deal was. Then, it kinda hit us. We downloaded the latest driver on the site, 4.1.12. we removed the old driver, installed the new and presto, the watermark was gone. ....now stay with me, this will kill ya. We figured out that there must have been a programming loop in the old driver. And when you had a USB or vice versa with serial connected, the driver still looked for the other type of connection. There wasn't anything to tell it to shut down the opposite driver. And so when you ran active studio, it recieved the message that the hardware wasn't detected (in this case, the serial driver wasn't dectcting a serial connection, but we were connnected USB). The driver loads both USB and serial and doesn't give you a choice , but that seems to be the answer to alot of the problems we've been having. ......a programming loop..........no notification...........

The pens work. We actually just flashed one, upgraded the drivers, but it still has this error message. Other than the watermark, the board works which means it obviously detects the hardware. :?:

Does anyone get a watermark on the board after doing the upgrade to the new software? We unplug the boards, remove the old software and drivers, then update, plug the board back into the box, and it picks it up, but there is this watermark that says: "Hardware Not Detected" Any ideas? :?

Actually, those guys were just here and they told us to udate all of our software. We seemed to have got it working now, but we'll see.

I tried turning off manual start up and that seemed to work, although it being USB it is supposed to not need to be connected manually. I will keep the USB cable length in mind as the Promethean guys did set up some USB and some serial.

Yes, uninstalled the whole package. Unplugged the board while reinstalling, plugged back in after reboot. It picks up board and works until you reboot the computer

We are using the new Promethean Software and Drivers and are in the middle of updating. We remove all of the old software and then install the new. One of our boards keeps dropping out after you reboot the computer. It is USB connected using XP Pro SP2. It goes into a constant loop trying to load the driver and the board and pen, But it never does. If I remove all of the software and reinstall it, it works until you reboot. Any ideas? :?
