Morning All, I know that I might be a week early for many of you who have not thought about this yet, but for once I am ahead of myself in regards to data , and I am preparing for the school census next week. Whilst doing this I received some correspondance from our AEN Co-Ordinator in regards to the change of SEN, from SA, SA+ & statemented to SEN with EHC plan and SEN without EHC Plan, which is due to come in from Sept 2014. Below is part of what was sent.... "The first time the census will reflect this new terminology will be in January 2015, but the revised Code will be in place from September 2014 which will give an awkward mismatch of information between September 2014 and January 2015 for school leaders, governors and Ofsted inspectors. To help schools to make the transition to this new categorisation and mindful that the Autumn 2014 RAISEonline publications will pick up the SEN census information from January 2014 census, we would like to recommend the following: • do not enter any pupil at school action; • only identify pupils at school action plus if you are making ‘additional and different’ special educational provision for them due to them making inadequate progress, despite high-quality teaching targeted at their areas of weakness; • enter all pupils with a statement of SEN under statutory action;" Just wanted to share & get possible thoughts from people as to whether or not this might be a good idea!? Vikpaw, Thanks for letting me know where to look, I will hopefully remember that in future! Although you would have thought that would have been one of those set on there as it is something that schools get scrutinized about! Well we do at least! I have set up all of the marksheets to have EAL as a set column, as well as the the other usual ones FSM, PP, SEN, Etc.. But as per normal most teachers are too lazy to switch tabs on their registers to see all of this information. Thanks again for your help! Regards, jrma91

Morning All, I have been asked if it is possible to add EAL to the list of options when you right click on the name in registers. I have tried seraching the Maintain Lookups, but can not find anything. Does anybody know if this is possible, and I am not finding the correct lookup, or is it one of those that Capita would put in if they got enough people requesting it? Regards, jrma91

The other thing that you may not have realised is that when the LA/Government look at your marks, if any have been changed they will want to know why! Anytime ours are changed then a reason has to be given! If teachers are changing attendance marks as the students behaviour changes, then the changes will appear on SIMS and would have to be explained why the changes were made. Which could then cause a major headache!!

The only way you could get the class code up would be to create an Aspect for each subject and put the class code in there. Unfortunately this would be very time consuming! Also it would not take into account any class changes that may occur, you would have to manually re-enter the classes into the aspect again!

@NormalDistribution This is why I love this group! I never know what if your put in % in the search bar that it would do that!! It will make my life so much easier when looking for for templates that I rarely use can can't remembe the names of! Or even when I want to have the the marksheets of certain reports up!

One other option to try would be to get on the board of governers! A good board of governers can help the head direct where the school is going! So to have someone on that who know about the best ways to interpret/manipulate data could be a really useful thing! So that the board can make better judgements! I personally am looking to be put on the board of governers so that I can help the school that way! ( The fact that I have 2 children at the school as well makes me want to go for the position!)

I am year 3 into the DM role, and there is never a quiet period for me! It is either busy or manic! We report to parents 4 times a year, every 9 weeks, and reports 2-4 have staff comments! Also SLT come up with these bright ideas from time to time, and expect them to be done yesterday! Thankfully my line manager is currently educating the rest of them as to how difficult (time consuming) it is to change and implement new things! One of the things that I am lucky with is that I don't have to do admissions, we have an admissions officer who does that, as well as dealing with the entry of CTF's! Otherwise I think I would go crazy! ( Or crazier than I already am:tinfoil3:)

This may be a silly question, but do you have the permissions to be able to delete?

That is the weird thing, the teacher is assigned to the class, and the multiple tick box is checked!

Hi All, I have created a marksheet for my year 7 maths classes. Some of the classes have multiple teachers who need access to this marksheet. Previously the other teachers have automatically had accesss to the marksheet, but for some reason only the lead teacher is able to access the marksheets! Have I done something wrong when creating or is there another problem that I have not thought of? Help greatfully received! Regards, Jrma91

I tried that, even tried 1 form group at a time (Form group only has 17 students in it!) and that didn't work! I have only managed to get it to work when I search for an individual student, but that kind of defeats the object of the report really!

Hi all, I have been trying to create a report in SIMS which will bring up a list of students who received 0 behaviour points during the previous academic year. Every time I try to get the report to run I get the error message: Transaction (Process ID 81) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. Anybody have any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Regards, jrma91

Looking for some advice please people. At what date do you off-roll your year 11 leavers, who you know are not returning for year 12? I am getting different dates from different departments within my LEA, and wanted to see what the general concensus was before I procceeded! Do I use the date of the last exam? Or the last day of the academic year? Any advice would be helpful! Regards, jrma91

For us O means other educational need, for example those who have dyslexia but are not severe enough to be on School Action.

The picture above shows how our registers appear. Would this not be enough for the teacher? Or are you looking for more detailed SEN need?

If you right click in the students name column on the register, you can get up the SEN status. Would this not be enough? Because surely you would not want the SEN details of the student displayed on the board for all to see, data protection and all that!? Plus it may make the child feel insecure about their needs in front of their peers!

In the same options area, Tools, Performance, Options have you ticked "Toggle Global Exam Filter"? As you will need this one on as well! If this does not work perhaps it might be worth checking with you exams coordinator as they may have put and embargo on exams aspects until results are officially released during the summer! regards, jrma91

If the column is created as a data entry column then it can be changed back and forth to read only. But if it is set up as read only it can not be changed.

I tried looking on the S2S website, even under the re-download section just in case someone had downloaded it in error, but they file was not there! And when I spoke the my LA they didn't even know what it was! Usually we do get the CTF's from our feeder schools, but that tends not to be until late July/early August. And we have a transition day in a couple of weeks and my SLT want the list on SIMS before then so we can set up tutor groups/lessons for that day!! Usually I would, but yesterday was my Birthday and I had lots of cake and sweets already!!

Have just tried that, and they are as useful as a chocolate tea pot! They are saying that I need to contact the students previous school to get a CTF! So wish that my LA knew what the "expletive deletive!" they were doing!! Does anyone else have troubles getting the ATF from their LA?
