Thats how we did it here, heres some video, heres some audio, now you have to make a trailer etc. For those who have any issues with creating movies with pupils, i cant recommend serif movieplus enough. Its extremely stable compared to others, and nice and easy for staff and pupils to use, with enough inbuilt resources to make a decent looking movie. It strikes a nice balance between super basic like movie maker to the professional movie editing stuff from adobe.

I remember having a problem in the past where it required something of windows media player to do the encoding, and updating to the very lastest windows media player solved the issue. long shot i know but maybe worth a shout?

I didnt know vmware supported mac, we looked a parrallels server for mac, but was put off by the price.

Ive seen custom apps, which sit on the desktop and its just a drop down with locations on. home/school etc easily switch between the two. That was on a linux netbook, that the children have.

Its 3 clicks to change the location, i guess you can get that down to 1 with a switch

Hi, Is there a way, i can have my mac suite automatically download and install updates without the logged on user having any interaction. At the moment, I have software update service running on a mac mini server which works great, but i have to set clients up install the downloaded updates. I have searched but couldnt find anywhere, hoping someone here is doing it

Legally you are probably doing it the right way, although you can just purchase through one account, then gift to all others, but for your own sanity, you may want to look at a third party management software solution, such as the ones posted. Until apple gives UK volume app licensing, i dont see many more options.

I installed on a few locally, but did manage to setup just a single shared library, so all staff can add music to just one location. Pretty good, beats any other of the players for managing music.

Yeah i must admit documenting what your actually doing at the time, is hard, especially if like me, you try about 20 things before it actually works, and then just being satisfied that is actually working! Hopefully might get some time at some point before half term to play with the webdav setup a bit more. Please post how you get on if you get to it before And as for apple in education/business, it was quite clear there intentions when they decided to drop the true enterprise server products. But seeing as though ipads seem to be in every school i know of these days and more and more by the top, and still hope for a better solution for them.

You anwered my post at the end there, was going to ask about wireless sync, i think we will be able to manage it here, as we dont have those issues. Although itunes was a little funny at first connecting via proxy. Your whole post just goes to show, that doing things the apple way is meant to be easier, but instead has created a bunch a hoops to jump through. Just a quick question, on if you are accessing shared folders etc on these ipads, and if so what method are you using? Great guide by the way, should save people a lot of time, trying different ways, like i have been for the past 12 months on how best to manage these ipads in school.

We are hoping to achieve this, making our cheapest option, the copier in black and white free, in the hope that, nearly all printing will get sent to this, have either of you noticed a drop in cost? or just a lot of hassle of people wanting more money/credits? Cheers

Hi, Ive been tasked with cutting down a printing bill. We have gone from 25 printers, laser and ink jet to just 8 laser, no inkjets and 1 networked photocopier (locked down with user codes, and allocation of credits for both copying and printing) But ive been asked to now make even more savings. As since we have now locked down the copier, people are bypassing by printing to the more expensive laser printers. What i needed was a solution that would be fairly cheap and easy to setup and work across both widnows and mac. I have singled out papercut, but was wondering what others were using, and if using papercut how you find it, how easy to setup? and most importantly, has it saved money? Thanks

I installed win7 pro and a select few applications that are most used, and able to run fairy quick on the 4 yr old laptops we have and imaged all of them, so now we have a class set of unmanaged windows 7 laptops that are actually used with a few programmes, instead of laptops with everything on but too slow to load and no one wants to use them, we now get some use out of them, if your with rm like us you can ask about using the rm umanaged script, which will script various setting, such as mapped drives etc, and allow filtered use of internet etc. Laptops are logged in and running under 2 minutes from boot.

This is the route we took in the end, cc4 with xp, taking 10-15mins to boot, standalone w7 up in under 2 minutes to users working on them.

Hi, Ive got a sanyo projector in the main hall that has virtical white lines running down the screen, this is the same regardless of anything that is plugged in, and when nothing is plugged it at all, so have ruled out source as the issue. From having a search around the internet everyone seems to think this means the projector is stuffed, anyone got any ideas, or is it time for a new one. The projector is only two years old, and a fair few hours left on the bulb yet. Cheers
