The Head Teacher went to a conference and was given some information regarding a situation in a school where password protocols might have been breached. The document advises the following:- Changing the server passwords Asking staff to change their personal passwords Update and review internal policies and procedures Update the school data protection plan I would like to know what are the implications of changing the domain password. Would the password change break anything such as PCs that have been connected to the domain or any software issues?

The Deputy Head and Sen Co-ordinator has asked if there is a quick way to scan the SEN documents that are being stored in boxes as the School has to keep SEN documentation up to 25 years. Ideally these documents will be scanned, stored on a server/hard drive and encrypted. Any ideas would be helpful!

I installed the actiview software on an old laptop that only has usb 2.0 ports and the actiview visualiser worked without any problems. I then installed the actiview software on a more recent laptop that only has USB 3.0 ports and the actiview visualiser worked without any problems. The Dell 3240 PC's use the skylake chipset. Could this be the problem because the actiview software and actiview visualiser work without any problems on the older PCs and non-skylake chipset computers?

The School has purchased new computers, Dell 3240 AIO PCs and we are having issues with the actiview visualisers and the actiview software. When the visualiser has been turned on and the actiview software has been loaded, everything on the actiview software is greyed out except for the power button and the options button. When I click on the power button the software crashes. I have installed the latest version of the actiview software v5.0.4 and the computers have Windows 7 32 bit installed on them. To get the actiview to work I have to connect the usb cable to a different port. This method does not always work. Any help would be appreciated.

I just had a quick look at word online and powerpoint online. They are both very limited versions.

The school already has access to google apps for education. However my only concern is that staff and pupils are used to using Microsoft Office products such as word, powerpoint and publisher. Also the compatibility of word documents in google docs doesn't work as expected with some formatting errors. As for using neverware on the old laptops. The batteries need replacing on the majority of the laptops, so I would rather purchase new laptops. The School already has a Microsoft EES Agreement. Does the Microsoft EES Agreement cover Office 365 for education?

I need some help deciding which direction to take the school forward with regards to laptops. The school currently uses Dell 2120 laptops (Intel Atom) that are 5 years old which are very slow at booting up and logging on. Most of the software that is used by pupils is accessed via the Internet apart from Microsoft Office 2013 which is installed on the laptops. As the School’s budget is decreasing every year it is very difficult to purchase a large quantity of traditional laptops. The plan is to get office 365 for the School and to purchase Google Chrome laptops instead of traditional Windows laptops. The common area (where pupils save their work on the server) would be synced to onedrive so that pupils can save their work and access their work at home. Does the above sound like a good plan moving forward? Any help would be appreciated.

The school is replacing some old promethean boards with promethean activpanels. The boards are working fine and the projectors are working fine as well. If there any local Schools in the Ladywood Birmingham area, that would like to purchase the 2nd hand kit then please PM me.

Is there any update on this? As the profile seems to changes randomly from the activprimary look to the activstudio look. Also sometimes activinspire asks the users which look they want, even when they have already chosen activprimary?

Hi We are looking to upgrade 2x Smartboard 660 with touchscreen LCDs in the reception classrooms. The teachers do not use the smartboard software as the whole school uses activinspire software. However the Head Teacher would like to relocate the Smartboards as the Smartboards are working fine. Nursery already have a smartboard and the Head has suggested moving one or both of the boards into Nursery. Are there any companies that will offer an upgrade discount for upgrading from a Smartboard 660 to touchscreen LCDs? Kind regards Parm

I have managed to get HAP working with access to files etc.. However I am having problems with the booking system. When I click on the "weekview" link, a blank page appears, . Also when adding a booking there is a headphones option . Is there anyway to remove this option? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. The school has 60x Dell 2120 laptops and 16x Toshiba NB250 laptops. The School has been using Leba notebook flight cases with the foam inserts for many years now to store and charge laptops. The school has 6x leba notebook flight cases. Everytime I open the cases, it’s a complete and utter mess. The cables are everywhere and laptops are not inserted in the correct way. Then the teachers complain about the laptops not being charged or the state the laptop cases are in. I seem to be wasting my time sorting out the mess because when I check the laptop cases at the end of the day or end of the week, they are back to being in a horrible state. Also recently several connectors on the adaptors have been damaged and I have had to purchase replacement adaptors. The school used to have lapsafe trolleys before we moved to the flight cases, but we found the lapsafe trolleys not to be of good quality. I need to persuade SMT that these flight cases are no good and we need to purchase a different kind of storage trolley with excellent cable management so that I don’t waste my time sorting out the mess and so the school doesn’t spend extra money replacing adaptors. Any suggestions would be helpful as I am getting really annoyed with this problem.

The School uses ActivInspire v1.7.62196 and I would like to know how to set the Primary look and feel as the default/permanent for all users. I just want to stop the pupils and staff from "accidently" loading the studio look and feel. Thanks in advance.

The School has bought 20 Kodak Playfull ZE1 cameras and they are great! Much better than having a digital camera. However these cameras seem to freeze randomly when taking pictures and recording videos. Once the camera freezes, I have to press the reset to get the camera working. Does anybody have any ideas as to why these cameras freeze randomly?

The School is looking to purchase Epson Projectors and I would like to know what size are the mounting screws on the Epson Projectors? The Projector is an Epson EB-X25.

We have completed the CMIS 14.1 upgrade on Friday 16th May. After the upgrade office staff have been unable to generate UPN. The following error message appears when trying to generate a UPN "all available serial numbers have been used". I have contacted Link2ict and they have said that there are large gaps between the numbers that are being allocated. Has anybody had a problem like this before? Everytime we do an upgrade we have had slight problems that we have managed to resolve, but nothing like this.

The projected image is blurry at the center of the screen only. I have replaced the lamp and the center of the image is still blurry. The projector has not been moved or touched since the end of the School term and was working ok before the School closed for the summer holidays. I am using Roaming profiles at the School and sometimes when users login there are no icons on the desktop and the start menu only has Internet Explorer and the Accessories folder. To fix this problem I usually delete the profile on the affected PC and delete the profile on the Windows 2008 R2 Server. Then when the user logins in again, the desktop icons appear and the start menu shows all the available programs. I use group policies to redirect the start menu, desktop and other folders to decrease the size of the profile folder to increase the login speed. I would like to know why this happens because it seems to happen randomly and affects random users? Is there anything I can do stop roaming profiles from corrupting?

Yes, there is yellow bleed around the red OKI badge and the red test colour at the bottom of the page. I have never had this problem with the printer before. Do you have any other ideas?
