I got really lucky. Started the download pretty much dead on 6 and after a couple of issues my end was done but like 7:30 lol!

The same as other Netbooks. XP Pro, just a different model. NB300...the others are NB200.

Ok, riddle me this.....it's only one of my netbook trolleys!! The other netbooks pick up the printers fine...

Well that does make sense cus i havent. But these arent brand new printers, they are printers they used pre-fire just in new location so the clients should already have the drivers installed....or does it not work that way?

If there is a printer driver issue, would that cause this? The printers are installed quite happily on the server i can print from them...but if i manually add a printer i get told the drivers are incorrect.... This is a 2K8 server and XP pro clients...

I was convinced this worked the other day but the netbooks dont seem to want to pick up the printers on logon today. Spent the day at a GMB union meeting in the very beautiful Brum Council House. Being a gadget geek i was immediately drawn to the box with lights and slots built into the tables of the cabinet room. I'm sure its got a proper name but the room was a cross between a lecture theater and an ampitheater (lol!) but with mics attached to the desks. Now its got something to do with the mics im guessing....but what's the slot for? Apologise for quality, i was trying to take the photo on the quiet without looking like a complete wierdo!!

Thing is, i had the same issue with my HP setup in the old building so i teeter on it being a netbook thing. But please do keep me updated!! I would love to get to the bottom of this too!

Ok, so my colleague rings the department to tell them what i had said and that she is going to zip and password protect the file and apparently the women on the phone was not impressed saying we are the only school wanting to do this and all others have sent there's normally and wanted to know who i was and why i was saying this. lol So is there a part of the DPA i can quote to this women. It's ridiculous. Why cant they just write a list of can's and cant's (yeah i know there are grey areas)

Glad its not jsut me then. Its awful. Guessing i just encrypt/password protect it and ring them to give them the password.

Yeah i know its pretty much common sense but i'm trying to help the admin girls. Last year i found out that for free school meals, information such as names, addresses and NI numbers were sent over email just as an attachment. I wasn't impressed. More so with the department for letting people do that without giving them any guidance on encryption etc. Now, am i being massively paranoid or do i have a point?
