mmmm now im a little confused of what i should do about video storage for premier. Should i go for local storage. install a sep SATA hd? the big problem i have at the moment is Im getting low on storage space, on the domain controller. 5Gb left to be exact. I figured a nas server would be ideal for holding thouse big powerpoint, pluss im going to be installing premier and thought nas would be the most cost effective solution. If i was to use nas for this, would i experience poor network performance?

when cable is coiled, it inefect acts like a heating element, as the heat increases so does resistance. the cable over time will deteriate and can cause an electrical fire.

hmm their are 2 port, 4 port, 8 port.... 8 port sata controler cards cost anything from £250+ christ

yep i was thinking raid. is it possible to get sata controller cards that will support 6 drives? the more drives the better, then i could use raid 5. the mother board has 4 inbuilt sata ports. hmm or could i just use the 4 ports on the board pluss the additional sata controller card

got my electrician head on now. Thats not funny, its blooming dangerous. the heat generated will eventually cause a serious fire. If health and saftey see that, god knows what would be said.

Hi gang, I'm setting up a server for kids and staff to store adobe premier and powerpoint files etc hardware: 2.21Ghz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 2gb RAM 4 X 256GB SATA DRIVES c: 30Gb partition for server software creat each kid a folder with kids having modify and staff read permissions thing is, its going to be 1TB storage server which will have no backup. ICT coordinator is fine with that but I would like to set up some sort of redundancy if a drive fails. and comments and sugestions much appreciated. cheers

Network manager here (my boss) is leaving very soon. the ICT coordinator says she is advertising the job and she said i can apply if im intrested (not; i would like you to apply) now i havent seen the job discription yet because it is still been put togeather. from what i understand it will be full time and not term time only. I haven't decided yet if I want to apply, but if i did apply, which i'm pretty sure i will have a chance at an interview, what questions should i expect to be asked? Thank you

fixed a teachers pc last week. I said to her 20 quid and i would do the job, any how did the job, gave her the pc back and she said she would settle the dept on monday. ok cool, walking through the school car park monday morning, and she calls me over to her car. she hands me a plastic bag with 4 cans of fosters (which i bloody hate). I asked her what they were for and she said for fixing my pc. I then said, but we agreed on £20 not cans of alcohol. teacher then says aaa but i thought you preffer cans, as i know how you young men preffer a goo drink. wtf i think to my self. ok then, £20 for the admin password to your pc and the cans she then reached for her purse and gave me the £20 quid Thank you... ooow and good morning the end

you will need to know the make and model of the motherbaord. as SATA controller is built in the board you only need the sata driver. go to the manufacturers website and then do a search through support -
