  1. Congratulations. But they poop and throw up and scream for months innit.
  2. Just for an update, almost a year later, still studying and still not taken an exam. They're retiring the LX0101/2 exams I was going to take, but the very similar 103/4 exams are on the go now. It's learning the switches that's killing me. HOW can I have to do that? In real life I'd just go, say, # man uname and boom, onwards. So SICK of damn stupid Linux.
  3. Yes indeed. Banger-nomics we used to call that. Less of a bargain now tax can't be transferred BUT if buying pre new tax rules you can pick up some stellar cars. Though you may get VERY sick of feeding that bargain BMW 740 you picked up for £500!
  4. Yes indeed. Putting business use on is essential if travelling to more than one place of work, though check your policies. I think it only costs me a tenner a year to do so though.
  5. Yes Vauxhalls into/post the XE??XEV era always seem to have some sensor going or something. Wiring on Corsas gave cause for concern too as I was tempted to go for a 3 cylinder next car, because you can pretty much pick the engine up by hand! Hmmmm... still might! Only caveat with Peugeots is old Peugeot diesels. If you have one that's been around long enough to get old, that will go on forever. As far as Japanese cars go, or at least in my era of (slim) experience around the late 90s, yes reliability is truly impressive. Honda built something like 5 million vtec units with NOT ONE going wrong. Once looked after a '96 1.8 Celica ST that'd been run for donkey's years without a service and had a smear of metallic black marmite for oil. Was with a veteran mechanic at the time and, upon asking him how it'd even survived such neglect, got back a knowing glance and "it's Japanese."
  6. If anyone wants a reliable car I've got a rust-free Calibra with a Scania/Saab B204 turbo engine in it! That's my daily, coming up sometime. Car on 137k, engine on around 75k with previous full Saab history. I serviced it a few weeks back. For a Frankenstein's car it's proven incredibly reliable. Needless to say, much much power and absolutely HORRIFYING if driven hard. I'll post it up here when I finally get to selling.
  7. That was kinda specific ballpark figure for a 4efe-engined, 1.3 late 90s corolla. Sheddy ones start around £400, dreamer-quality ones still up to about £1k. For that you get dual airbags and little else but relentless, featureless motoring. Notorious as the most reliable and easy-to-work-on car ever. There are rumour-like reports of some 4efe engines almost clearing 200,000 miles having NEVER been serviced.
  8. Zumba-ed it hardcore huh? That's the way. And for some silly, unknown reason your post reminded me of this: http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/So+many+feels_a7e0e5_4074133.jpeg
  9. Reliability you say? Sounds like a job for: http://www.mynrma.com.au/media/toyota_corolla_1998_hatch.jpg Take £700 somewhere, buy one outright, and just you TRY and break it. 1.3 4efe engine is the one. That will go on until doomsday. My next car, dead serious. I'm gonna deliberately mis-treat it too (run until cambelt snaps or water pump screams etc) just to see how much jip it'll take! If you (somehow) b0rk the engine it's only £200 and a weekend for another one!
  10. Zumba's got the makings of some decent cardio Witch, have a good sesh there. Joanne there's no way I could see myself training one bodypart again the very next day, I'd be feeble as hell! Well then, all I got is legs and abs until this improves. And cardio ofc. I time it so that Tipping Point is on the telly in the gym if only doing cardio, and I like that show so I do. Actually I got some decent DOMS off my chest workout of rage Monday night, so accomplished at least something. Shoulder is a little better than I deserve it to be today, largely because the gf put some super-strength eastern European muscle rub on it last night. Encouraged as that likely means it's muscle-ey rather than joint-ey or bone-ey. Learned my lesson, laying off it until next week. I'll probably take ANOTHER week off Muay Thai though and I really really cannot stand missing training.
  11. I knooow gawd everyone quit sweating me or I'll have to outsource my posts to a quasi-political post-making firm!
  12. Tru dat, only said as current overlords of the blue persuasion.
  13. Surely our Conservative overlords wouldn't shirk their responsibility and flog off our schools to large corporate chums hell-bent on outsourcing the world?
  14. Yeah but I was all annoyed and stuff. Actually it was kinda daft and (I would like to think) I know better. No choice now, will definitely have to rest it up until it is actually better. Nicely done on the workout though. What did you do and what's sore this morning?
  15. Gah gawd DAMMIT I've not had a good time of this shoulder. Missed an AWESOME sparring session last Friday sitting out Muay Thai, dutifully did very little lifting last week (all my cardio, light chest Monday, then leg day twice) leading up to it. Felt more or less ok yesterday morning. Start of heavy chest routine last night and after pretty much the first set something was SCREAMING in there. Very annoyed, carried on anyway. Couldn't put my tshirt on this morning. Having a real job lifting the shoulder for anything today. VERY annoyed with this now! http://www.gifbin.com/bin/072011/reverse-1310121676_angry_wrestler.gif Oh well at least I've dropped to 90.2kg and can still do legs and cardio. Lol, dear diary...
  16. None for me, but I eat six times/day anyway. Reasonably disciplined and largely detached food from reward; there's stuff I'd 'like' but nothing I really and seriously crave. Also really benefiting from my calorie controlled weight loss thing I'm doing so that's nice and motivating. Promised the gf that we'd have a Chinese when I get down to 88kg though. Dat chilli squid...
  17. Damn dude, very best wishes.
  18. That is a good article. Sadly it will rustle no jimmies in the press and almost everyone will forget the stunt. Fact is you can lose weight by eating chocolate and kebabs if you want, so long as you're eating less calories /day than your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and more than your BMR (base metabolic rate.) There's a little more to it of course and you'll probably get sick doing it on just chocolate, but if the only macro you count is calories you will still succeed.
  19. That we have.
  20. If those Mars One people have set up the colony by then, I hope they kick it or pick it up and run off with it. Or otherwise tease it. Heeheehee.
  21. I know, look at the devastation: http://cdn.meme.am/images/6175047.jpg
  22. I survived the lurgy. Went down the gym last night for a bit but didn't achieve a whole lot! A few sets of misc lifting and half-hour of cardio. I got Muay Thai training tonight. Hope there's no sparring as my shoulder is a bit creaky. I'll keep a low profile and hit a bag. In other news though I'm down to 90.8kg from +/- 95kg a few weeks ago and starting to see my abs again! Das it.
  23. Mother of god that's amazing. Konami need to hire Philip Solidsnake.
  24. Very bendy them Capoeiristas are! I'm way too graceless an individual to attempt that. ALMOST got the spinning back kick usable, but I've had a lifetime ambition to learn the spinning hook kick. On it two years and counting! Seriously the least co-ordinated combatant in the universe. If you pick that up before me let me know! Been off training with the lurgy and so had a drastic drop in the calories, which has made me very bleh. Back to the gym tonight for an emergency full-body and a little cardio, hopefully better in time for MT tomorrow night. My xrays and blood tests came back and there's bugger-all wrong with my hip joint, so whatever that pain is I'm gonna give it some warm running and get back on the squats and deadlifts. Heeehhhh das it.
  25. Congrats! MA is the way! Let us know which one you choose and if possible DO try Muay Thai and Krav Maga.
