  1. Oh that was disheartening, thanks. I now feel worse about my month spent eating pies in the night and not doing cardio. Well I guess that's it, pass the steroids: http://new4.fjcdn.com/gifs/Steroids+in+a+nutshell_c4fedf_4570620.gif
  2. Well I finally caved after over a month of my shoulder SCREAMING and then settling and then training on it and then SCREAMING again. Went to see physio, physio gave me a yank and a dig and a set of exercises and much time off lifting. Guurrghhh. Oh well at least it'll get better now.
  3. Thanks James. Yes not quite what I was after but something I'd also pondered. Conversationally mentioned it to a power-that-is who said it's now just fine as-is. Good enough for me! Thanks guys for all that.
  4. Hmmm, well this desktop business worked but I'm still struggling to get the lxpanel (like, taskbar-ey bar at the bottom of the screen for us windows folks) locked down and un-changeable for the local student acct. I can get it (with GOFRIS) so that changes don't persist across sessions, as I believe could also be done by changing the permissions on ~/.config/lxpanel/Lubuntu/* to read-only for the kiddies BUT that's not really good for me in this case, as the laptops are going to the most disruptive and least pleasant children in the place who will use them for fiddling with settings or basically anything rather than doing work, and if these machines do anything other than open chrome beautifully it will completely fox the staff too. They can POTENTIALLY disconnect from the wifi, so can't stay as it is, although a reboot will of course sort this. So, what would be good to do? In my limited wisdom, I'd guess that if this can;t be achieved with the lxpanel, is this just easily done with the gnome panel or another alternative? Bless you for reading.
  5. Thanks Geoff! You filled in a bit of a gap there with your pointer, so double thanks. Right, I've got that file and I think I recognise enough of what's going on in there to remove the ShowDesktop bits BUT /etc/xdg/openbox/rc.xml warns at the top that it gets re-created on reboot. So, opening up (as rc.xml in Geoff's path above) you'll read about copying your rc.xml into /home/%user%/.config/openbox. BUT, in THIS folder you have lubuntu-rc.xml (or at least I did running as I am lubuntu.) Edit THAT one instead (logged in as root acct, having un-done GOFRIS prior, then re-applying GOFRIS lock afterwards.) Bam, right-click does NOTHING on the desktop now, just like I like. Can also (I suspect) tinker with the panel right-click and icon right-click too, which I'm off to do. Wheee! We done some LINUX up in here boys and girls! I feel sick though.
  6. Or at least butcher the content of their menus so hard their functionality is nil for an account on these machines right here. Scenario is I've got a netbook or twenty with Lubuntu on them (they don't have a hope of running much else and this distro I'm sticking with) and I have pretty much a chrome icon on the desktop and that's all I want them doing. It's locked down with gofris (kiosk-mode/deep-freeze thing that undoes changes when kiddies reboot) and there's one student account and one admin account. Proxy settings set through /etc/environment. I effectively want them to just run chrome. And no, no chrome os distro works on them. I've tried about every forum post google can serve up. I've edited this .rc and that .xml and nothing seems to kill off the bloomin' sods. Anyone got anything else I could rm or vi into submission? Ta MUCHLY muchly muchly.
  7. What's wrong with the car specifically? What make/model? I might have asked that in another thread btw, I sometimes do... Also, that government-backed first-time-buyer deposit ISA jobby going to be any good? YMMV on that one though, from numerous directions.
  8. Been doing it (on and off and mixed) a few years now. You'll get (sorta) used to that. I'm STILL suffering with this shoulder. Spoke to a physio (socially) who recommended NOT doing any exercise on it, and told me if it takes three months to get better then it takes three months, but ALSO implied that it wouldn't NECESSARILY get worse, so I'mma try doing low weight/high rep workouts for a month or so and see if there's any improvement. Did a workout last week and it grumbled, but was better than it had any right to be. Also did a day's labouring Saturday which it grumbled through too.
  9. You must on NO account hide a salmon fillet in an air vent like I didn't once. That didn't get found ever. Nature took it's course after a few months and gradually resolved it.
  10. No nobody died of dookie on my watch.
  11. Didn't Joanne have a poop thread this one time? Can we have that back? ;P Jokes. Anyways I have not had it, but I know the cure for public urination anxiety. PM for info. And I usually take about 10 mins. And I once went boom-boom in a public toilet where a homeless guy died.
  12. Been looking for that.

  14. Got this from their support. I didn't even know we were buying that until this morning! Hehe! They were quick to reply. Seems a bit 'hack and slash' but meh, worked: Half of that I knew, didn't know the 'solution' half though. If I could have edited that stupid OPERATOR.D file myself I'm SURE I could have got it all straight again. Anyway I set the permissions and redirection and variable as per those initial instructions linked too, so now gtg.
  15. Been in touch with support, will post resolution. Few things in mind.
  16. Hello people. Today the Alice Library Software has been shafting me somewhat. Getting the error message in the title when starting it. Dug out the following, which suggests for my issue running DBU.exe on OPERATOR.D: (if you even have an XP machine handy. Grrrr...) http://www.oasisextras.com.au/support/Alice%20and%20Locked%20down%20Workstations.pdf ...But DBU.exe is a baffling piece of carp and opening OPERATOR.D with it bears no logical relation to the instructions whatever. So, just wondering if anyone had seen this before and had a quick fix. Ta for any bones thrown!
  17. Yes I took it to mean that too from their use of "vehicle checks" too. But he/she might be checking it for all sorts of reasons. Might be looking for his/her truncheon in it, in his/her own time. Or hell even checking for bees.
  18. Actually they could have been off-duty at the time anyway, so we're all BEEing presumptuous HARHarharharhar. DAMMIT HOMER beat me to it by seconds I need to BEE typing quicker LELLOLLEL!
  19. Oh I know I am, but for sure would expect a shoe in the ass off the sarge if I got caught feeding a bee rather than keeping the streets safe!

  21. Now, here's a fellow attempting to fly around and pollinate something. But he's having some trouble, isn't he? Would you like to know why? Because he's a Scot. So they gave up on crime for a bit and made the closest thing to Irn Bru they could. [/scottish stereotypes] [/i'mdonenow]

    CCNA

Nope, because my advice would be self-paced training. Always seem to do better that way. I got the impostor syndrome thing going on HARD so I'd look around that classroom and everyone in my head would seem like Stephen Hawking and I'd be like Bart Simpson and I'd just not be able to focus. If I can crawl away into my dungeon and learn at my own speed and have a google here and there I'm much happier! EDIT - though, if someone up on current affairs can verify this, if you do the CCENT you still get ICND 1 which is half a CCNA (and can be used towards it.) That right?
