A member of staff has explained a strange problem she's getting when trying to upload files to Moodle. When going to Start > Documents (from the PC), there's a folder called "College" as well as many other folders. When going to upload a file to Moodle, browsing the "Documents" folder shows every file and folder, except for the "College" one. It's been happening for a few days and she's tried restarting the PC, using different browsers and clearing all cache and temp files. Anyone have any ideas or seen this before?

I don't think the students would mind, but the staff wanted to show how to use the built-in ZIP management for Windows at home. Copying and pasting from within the ZIP does the same thing strangely enough. Tried unzipping to both a network mapped drive and UNC path, both do the same thing. Using 7Zip was just an idea to make sure it was the built-in ZIP management that is having the issue. Opening the ZIP file with the built-in tool displays all the files as it should (the same with 7Zip), but it's only 7Zip that's actually able to extract all files. You're probably right, pushing it out would be best. Fortunately this is the first time (or first anyone has mentioned) of this 'feature' (lol), but at least there's a workaround.

Having a bit of an issue with the built-in Windows 7 ZIP extraction tool. When extracting files from a ZIP file using the built-in tool, it looks like all the files are extracted, but when viewing the folder the files 'should' be in, only X amount actually appear (X meaning, the amount of files that appear is random). This only happens when extracting to a network location. Extracting to a local disk, the files appear no problem. Also using something like 7Zip also works fine.

Is there a way to display, on a course, the summary of the rescources/activities? For example, if there's a SCORM module on a course, it requires a summary of that module, but when you're viewing all the resources and activities on a course, the summary doesn't show up. It only shows when you go into that module/file.

Nope Want to get rid of the 'teacher' field all together. It's mainly for one course that's run by one staff member, but has a lot of help from other staff, so she doesn't want the full 'thanks' for the work when it's not her work she's promoting ... if that makes sense.

Is it possible to remove the 'teacher' name from an individual course? I know there's an option which turns off the displaying of the teacher name for the entire Moodle site, but I was hoping there's a way to turn it off for individual courses.

Hi all, I'm trying to change the width of the dialog box that appears when either adding or viewing a list item. The form is a custom job where the fields are just outside the default width. There is a scroll bar to scroll horizontally, but it would be nice to widen the dialog box and eliminate the scrollbar completely.

Don't suppose you managed to get the auto-rotate to work? We've got the ZooStorm SL8, and I'm having fun (!!!!) getting the auto-rotate to work. All drivers are installed, but can't find anything to auto-rotate the display. In Windows 7 there was a "Location and Sensors" part to Control Panel, now it's just "Location". The last time I tried to get the auto-rotate to work, it was down to the sensor not being enabled.

Further inspection, it doesn't appear to be due to large file size as the spreadsheet is 200kb. I've tried with an extremely basic spreadsheet too (putting 1 number on each sheet with 3 sheets in total), and even that applies the default printer settings on each tab. Another attempt to solve this, I added a local printer to see if it's due to printing to a network printer thats causing the problem ... and it doesn't make a difference

We have an office with several staff who regulary print multiple tabbed workbooks. Usually, the default print settings that are in place are fine for what is needed, but there appears to be a problem when they want to change the printer properties for a large job. An example is one document has 30 tabs, 28 of which are needed on paper. Highlighting the 28 tabs then clicking print brings up the default print options as it should. If any of these options are changed, they only change for that current tab that is in view. So if I was to scroll down the pages until I reach the next tab, the print settings would revert back to default. I'm hoping this is the reason why when the staff go to print these spreadsheets, they set the print settings as they usually would and it starts to print out fine. All of a sudden the document will start using the default print settings. I've noticed that when they go to print the document I'm currently looking at, although its 1 document, the print job on the photocopier shows up as 4-5 seperate jobs varrying in sheets being used. At first I thought this was due to the size of the documents, but this spreadsheet is 200kb.

Hi all, I'm on the lookout for a web part that can pretty much give the equivalent of an explorer view of files and folders (from either a UNC path, or a mapped drive) and display the contents on a page. I've found a couple of web parts that do a similar jobs, but most of them look like they eiter copy or somehow link the source folder/path and create a list library. I'd prefer if the web part looked like Windows explorer in a web page and gave the same, or similar, features such as the context menu and copy/paste. Thanks

Doh, too far away (8 hour commute :S)

We have some laptops for staff, but they're mainly used off-site. The laptops we do use have bluetooth disabled as it was creating problems with authenticating over wifi. As mentioned iOS devices aren't the best with Bluetooth. I've just looked on my iPhone 4, and there's no option to send a picture to another device via Bluetooth. Sending anything larger than a single picture isn't the best idea either due to lack of 3G on-site, and wifi only allows users to browse the web, so smartphone apps won't be able to communicate with the outside world. The mass storage idea is a good'n, but I've yet to get this to work across all phones (even Andriod phones are hit and miss). I guess maybe a intranet site/page where students could upload files from their device, and staff can access to download would be a nice idea

Lately (could sort of see this coming anyway), there seems to be an increasing amount of students/users who are taking pictures on their phones ... and quite rightly so. The problem with they're getting is trying to get the photos off their phones (or devices), and onto the computers. Because of the type of environment we have setup here, the user's don't have rights to install software and/or drivers (USB mass storage devices can be installed though). Just wondering if anyone has something similar or could suggest a solution? Earlier, a student wanted to get pictures off an Andriod phone. After a quick search on the interwebs, I found that this particular phone is very hit and miss with connecting to a PC or Mac and allowing mass storage transfers. A work around would be if there was 1 or 2 photos to send, this student could email themselves ... but there were 19 photos, and down here you're very lucky to get faster than GPRS so sending via email would take a while. Another problem with iOS devices is that they are sync'd with the main iTunes account (which most people have at home). So if someone were to connect their iOS device here, it could loose the association and wipe the device completely. Windows Phone devices need Zune to transfer images and audio, which would mean we'd have to install Zune on every computer on-site. And breathe
