I suspect it's more likely stuck keys or a busted keyboard to have got both Shift + Del to do this over and over. Unless I'm missing something.

I did wonder that, and now having tested if I hold Shift + Del down, and then double click an icon, it prompts to permanently delete what I've double clicked. So definitely sounds like faulty keyboard.

Hi folks, We have an odd problem with a laptop (Lenovo T430s) used by a student that has a visual impairment. Mid-use, when double clicking files to open in Windows Explorer, from the desktop etc. it asks if she wants to permanently delete the file (apologies, I don't have the exact message to hand), as if she has pressed Shift+Del, rather than double clicked. This got so frustrating that we reinstalled the laptop - it was full of Lenovo bloatware anyway - but then the problem recurred some weeks later. Both the original and new install are Win 7. It definitely doesn't happen immediately, as when logging on the laptop behaves normally. Google highlights a few instances of this, but without any obvious fix. Any ideas? Short of braving Lenovo support... TIA

Hi folks, I've created a test deployment on our student PCs of Inventor Professional 2015. When Inventor launches the browser appears to crash, and then I get a warning dialog which says: "The browser process exits unexpectedly. Please check: 1) You have internet connection; 2) Firewall blocks starting the browser process AdCefBrowser.exe; 3) Firewall blocks browser process AdCefBrowser.exe to access Internet; 4) Proxy setting in Preferences - > Network. Do you want to try connecting internet again?" The Windows firewall is disabled, but we do use a proxy server. Except that I cannot find any preferences dialog that references network settings. Does such a dialog exist, and can someone explain where I access it from? TIA

Hi folks, We’re at the point of giving up with OnlineSchoolBooking.com because we continually have problems getting the service resubscribed. Can anyone recommend a web based room booking system, or equally systems to avoid? (I’ve already spotted RoomBookingSystem.co.uk, as we already use their parents evening system) It needs to be able to cope with timetabled/recurring bookings, a 2 week timetable, around 100 users, and 11 rooms. TIA

Although surely interactive whiteboards are there main business, and people will be changing them on an ongoing basis. Unless as mentioned the interactive whiteboard market has become that poor an earner? Surely upsetting your customers in a dwindling market is not the way forward! Do they really think the software is going to be that big an earner? Short-sighted to say the least.

We've hit the same problem. I went to install the latest update, and got told our license was no longer valid. We have several new smartboards, so have started using up the serial numbers to license the software, but the update tool suggests we'll only get a year of software updates as well before that runs out. A big change from our previous site license key that just worked. Also, we're only getting 3 or so licenses per serial number before we're told they are used up. Another change. The frustration for us is that (a) we've been using SMARTTech throughout, so it would be extremely costly to switch to an alternative and (b) surely the hardware is the big cost here anyway, which we've already paid for. The software is just a nice-to-have, and hardly feature rich. If anyone from SMARTTech is listening, this is a great way to upset your customers.

Ah interesting, when I approved the IE11 updates I was prompted with a license terms agreement. This may well be why automatic approvals didn't work. A shame that WSUS doesn't flag this in some way!

It gets weirder. When I checked synchronisations there hadn't been anything since the 5th May. I checked options and sync was set to manual. Bizarre as I haven't changed anything. So I ran a manual sync, and then changed it back to daily. I then looked through the updates, and could not find IE11 (searching by name, and by KB2841134). I then changed the filter to "unapproved", and there it is, titled "Internet Explorer for Windows 7". Release date of 13/5/2014. I have automatic approval set for Critical Updates, Definition Updates, Security Updates, Service Packs, Update Rollups, and Updates. This is for Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2010, Silverlight, and any Windows Product. So I have no idea why it didn't approve. Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 is also there, with a release date of 08/10/2013. Presumably these are treated in some special way, or I'm missing an approval criteria?

Vasriel: I checked today. WSUS has updates from a few days ago, so it's definitely receiving updates. It's been live for over a year, so would have received the update. My preference is to just get it into WSUS via the usual route, so I'm at a loss as to why it isn't there. What's the release date you're seeing in WSUS?

Hi folks, I've spotted more through luck than anything that some machines here are still on IE9. I've checked WSUS and I can't find anything that looks like the IE11 install, which apparently should be an Update Rollup. I've also searched on its KB number (2841134), still nothing. Update Rollups are set to download. Any ideas why it's not listed? (Anyone have the release date and/or the title of the update, so I can check through the list?) TIA

Hi folks, Does anyone else use Onlineschoolbooking.com? (AKA Bob for the Meeting Rooms function FREE 3 month trial - Online Room booking, equipment booking, online marking, exam information, parent evening bookings & student lists) We’ve been using it for a couple of years, but we don’t receive an invoice ahead of the subscription running out and then it takes a couple of days to resolve and get our subscription reactivated. We’ve forgiven them because the product is excellent and historically it’s been sorted out quickly, but this time we’ve been unable to contact the usual person (Thomas Earl) via the [email protected] address for over a week. We’re going to look for other contact email addresses, and use their snail mail address also, but has anyone else had success (or failure) contacting this company? There was some suggestion that Thomas is a teacher, and runs this in his spare time. TIA

For the PVSL do you still need to submit reports of what was played? Do you need a license for royalty free hold music?

Just to update, after speaking to Smoothwall support I had to add localhost (127.0.0.1) to our Web Proxy exceptions, this stopped it trying to go through the Smoothwall it seems and it worked. The problem now is we don't have an upstream proxy any more, and now this seems to be broken again.

Hi folks, I spotted some odd behaviour when copying a 4GB ISO file. The file was downloaded to my PC (Win 8.1), but the downloads folder is on the file server (2008 R2). I copied the ISO file to another folder on the server and saw no network traffic on my PC at all. The file copy was relatively slow, varying between 1-10 MBytes/s. When I did that same file copy on the server itself the speed was around 100MBytes/s. Anyone know (a) why it wasn't using my PC to copy the file and (b) why it was so slow? TIA

We have WSUS but I can't get it to work with W8 for the moment (and not enough time to troubleshoot, as it doesn't seem to be a simple fix). Not sure if I may have even installed Update 1. How would I know?! Nothing's showing in Windows Update (via the Internet).

Is just the update itself there and/or can you apply the update via the complete ISO?
