I am rolling out a Windows 10 enterprise x86 image using a Litetouch deployment. When starting the deployment I give it a name such as Laptop-86 but when the deployment has finished I end up with Desktop-xxxxx hostname. I have compared my Answer file to other images I have deployed such as Windows 7 etc and there is no duplicate entry in there. In addition I checked the BDD.log file and while it shows my laptop-86 hostname initially, further down the log it shows as renaming it to desktop-xxxxx but I can't see WHY it's renaming it. I have Googled this but haven't found anything that helps yet. Does anyone have any ideas? It's driving me nuts. Thanks.

Many thanks for the response. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the Acer website and included in this is the firmware update for the BIOS which i have applied but unfortnately still no joy? I have installed a command line in the task sequence with the following command:- cmd.exe /c "bcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS" However this sequence starts but just hangs????

Hi folks, Has anyone successfully deployed a Windows8.1 x86 image for the Iconia W510 using MDT? I have successfully deployed Windows 7 x86 - x64 images without too much problem but i'm struggling with these Iconia devices on Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the Acer website which comes as a package. I have then added these to the MDT drivers and updated the boot image. I have then copied the updated boot image to my USB stick. When I boot from the USB to start the build off I have no keyboard or mouse. Eventually after I have installed a USB keyboard and kicked the build off it finishes but still no drivers. I have to install the USB keyboard AGAIN to log into Windows and install the drivers manually, (the same drivers I have added to MDT) and all works fine from then on. However we have 210 of these devices to build and manually installing the drivers on the machine at the end of the build is not an option. It's driving me mad. Does anyone have any suggesstions? Hi folks, We are running windows 7 x86/64 successfully. I have created multiple builds using MDT 2012 in a toatally zero touch environment and it works beautifully. However we are now trying to deploy Windows 8.1 preview without much success. I have cretaed a new Server 2012 and installed MDT 2013 and ADK 8.1. I am able to take an image of Windows 8.1 but I can't deploy it completely. I have manually created a new task sequence and compared it to my Windows 7 task sequences and I can't see any problems. Also the image of Windows 8.1 will deploy but after installing the OS part of the task sequence it restarts and stops at the dekstop logon screen. However on monitoring the build it says it is on part 48 out of 65 steps 72% complete and just hangs. It should be joining the domain at this point but it just doesn't, however I get no error message either. I have checked all the drivers are there and installed. I have tried checking the logs in C:\Windows\Temp\DeploymentLogs\ZTIDomainJoin.log but no logs have been created. Any help will be greatly received! Brad.

They're a few apps out there. One is TeamViwer and the other is GoToMyPC. However it does allow the iPad to interact with the PC so bear this in if you roll out to a student. Brad.

Hi folks, We have recently moved away from RM and developed our own network. We are still running our CC3 servers with a trust to our new domain just to make it easier to copy any files that may have been missed during migration. I am trying to set up the GPO's for our exam users and want to marry our old CC3 GPO with the new one. I vaguely remember there was a reg entry to had to enter in order for the RSOP to work on the CC3 servers but can't remeber what it is. Does anyone else know? (My RM account is now deleted as we are no longer paying for support). Many thanks, Brad

Hi folks, I work in a large secondary school and are currently using ISA 2004 with Surfcontrol for our Firewall and web filtering. However we need to move on and i'm looking at migrating to Forefront TMG. The question is will I need SurfControl/ WebSense to continue my web filtering or will the URL filtering feature in Forefront do the job? Many thanks, Brad.

Its a very good way of building / imaging workstations that are not all identical. People who bash RM, usually have only had experience with a badly set up / badly run CC3 network. Andrew Andrew Andrew Andrew, oh my god I never thought I would hear anyone say that. You must be in a very small minority. RM's build in my opinion is it's weakest feature, after attending many Seminars I've spoken to RM engineers and they freely admit their build process is weak and this was in front of hundreds of people. This is going to be addressed in CC4 thank goodness. As for previous comments regarding not having alot of experience of builds etc I have set up RIS on our Admin Network and you can RIS an XP image with all apps installed etc etc in 28mins. Also I used to work for NatWest and have created Ghost images etc for those guys, again it takes around 30 mins or less, not clocking on for two hours on a decent machine.

Hi, We have a Dell Poweredge 2600 Server with 3x 73Gb SCSI drives in a RAID 5 array. We now need more space and so need to add another disk. The question is:- Can I just put a new 73Gb SCSI drive in as a spare and allocate more space to the exisitng array or do I need to break the array and re-create it with a 4th disk? Many thanks.
