Yeah that kinda works, but single digit days are created meaning that the sort that needs to come later doesn't work! I'll probably stick with what I've got and create a macro to hopefully do the copying and pasting and apply the filter.

Yeah tried that - but the second data is still there, and when filtering it takes it into account. I had to edit the custom type to show me the seconds (as I couldn't understand why my unique list had duplicates). Have now tried =TEXT(A2,"dd/mm/yyyy HH:MM") then filtered the results but the filter is still including the second data! Edit- Ok now I've copied the values to another column and filtered that and it works. Now is there a more automated way I can do this so I can paste my data into the sheet and get a list of unique times (to the minute) without having to potch about with copying and filtering?

Hi all, I have a list of date and times (in one column), the data showing is just dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm but the data for the seconds is also present and if I change the format I can see it. What I would like is to create a list of the unique records but only down to the minute data. Unfortunately if I use the filter option to copy unique records I get a list of dates and times that are unique down to the second. Here's a sample of the data; 05/09/2013 13:02:03 05/09/2013 14:02:53 05/09/2013 14:02:55 05/09/2013 14:02:58 05/09/2013 14:03:00 05/09/2013 14:03:02 05/09/2013 14:03:04 05/09/2013 14:03:06 05/09/2013 14:03:08 05/09/2013 13:02:05 05/09/2013 13:30:40 05/09/2013 14:02:33 05/09/2013 13:01:01 05/09/2013 14:02:54 05/09/2013 14:03:07 05/09/2013 14:02:37 05/09/2013 14:02:58 05/09/2013 14:03:03 05/09/2013 14:02:41 So the output I'd need would just be 5 records of 05/09/2013 13:01 05/09/2013 13:02 05/09/2013 13:30 05/09/2013 14:02 05/09/2013 14:03 (and preferably in chronological order) I have a lot of these to sort on a huge scale so a formula solution would be better, I've tried using =Left but that uses the raw data (e.g. 41522.5430902778 for 13:02:03) and I don't know how/if I can convert that back to the format I need. Can someone help me out? I have a suite of 45 iMacs (2009) which are still running 10.5.8. If I upgraded one to get to 10.6 and then downloaded Mavericks and create a USB install, could I just use that to upgrade the rest? Also talking of upgrading to 10.6/10.9 would each mac need it's own AppleID or could I just use 1 for them all and would the students have access to this AppleID or do they also need their own?

As an update to this if anyone else is looking, that Fixit from BJG seems to have sorted it even though Offline files are disabled by gpo on our network.

Bit of an odd one this, user home folders are set in AD to connect z: \\server\year\%username% and this is generally working fine except for some users on some win 7 clients. They'll login and the drive appears under My Computer but they do not have access to it (they do have access to Public and another drive that are mapped by a login script). I've tried navigating to the user home folder through word and get an access denied message. If they move to another computer (in the same OU) it'll work fine, I've checked permissions and everything looks fine (they have full control as does system and Admins). Also I can login as a different student on the same computer and their home drive will be fine. Has anyone else come across anything similar or have any ideas why this may be happening? Server 2008 R2, currently using local profiles but same issue was occurring while using a mandatory roaming profile, not sure what other info may be needed or relevant so let me know.

If you're using the Group Policy Management snapin, find your group policy object and then check it's 'settings' in the right hand pane, click show all to see all settings defined by the gpo and you can use Ctrl+F to search for text (sorry but can't think where it would be exactly in the gpo).

I know I'm dragging up a very old post but I have the same problem and I'm struggling to find a solution anywhere. I've narrowed it down to the fact that it's the 'Run Only Allowed Windows Applications' setting in the group policy. So I need to figure out what program it's calling when running a hyperlink from within word. So mrbios did you setup the new policy with 'Run only allowed windows apps'?

Yeah me too, now I can take off the policy that the LEA setup that gave users local Admin access!

Cheers for that but I did end up using the simsperm.bat in a computer script which I can control via Group Policy.

Can't I run it as a Computer Startup script? (and sorry for dragging up such an old post!)

Sorry to drag up an old post but can you point me in the direction of these guidelines - been looking through the BECTA website but can't find a decent document stating any figures.
