  3. Hope someone can help. When i log into our terminal services server as domain admin all is ok.... When i log into the server as myself i am restricted ? My user account is in the same group as Administrator (users) I am a member of the same groups as the adminsitrator? I can log onto all the other servers with admin rights as me... As the server is a terminal server do things have to be done slightly differently with TS enabled?? http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/7186/erorrlq6.jpg Cheers in advance
  4. hi, Cost - £598 (Inc 1years Full support), with an option of £159.99 each year after for support. Upto 2000 users Is that alot more than papercut? we are not yet finalised? Cheers
  5. thx for the replies, I have decided to go against the flow and try "Print Limit Pro" The main reason is the support, Print man plus support via email from the USA... PLP is UK telephone support. After speaking to both of them i dont want to touch PMP, the foriegn lady was rude and unhelpfull. PLP support were great and really helpfull. The trail of PLP is doing everything that we need. Only downside is it costs a little more than PLP, but that price alone is worth it for phone uk support. Been trying to repair/replace our Lacie 2tb NAS drive for 7months now. Email Support to the USA is terrible, waiting 2-3days for a reply like "have you restarted the unit", its been back to them twice, but thats another story !...
  6. Have you thought about letting staff login automatically to eportal with the AD account? Its possible, looking to set it up V soon
  7. Has anyone compared these 2 print software`s ???? When we installed the trial of PMP6 it was showing thousands of copies on all the samsungs, also kept crashing the spooler? Anyone had experience with Print Limit Pro ? Cheers
  8. yeah we have WSUS for all the workstations and let us choose to update the servers.... This means we get nagged at everytime we remote into any of the servers
  9. Any1 tried LanView ? its 100% free What is LanView3? LanView 3 contains many features such as listing all network stations, and their respective users, including their full names (if linked with User Extractor 3). In additon, LV3 boast the following; Manage PC's and Users individually or by group Remote Control using the popular VNC tools Shutdown, reboot and logoff machines Turn on PC's remotely (requires Wake On Lan support in stations BIOS) Turn on or off internet access for a station or user (where ever they sit!) Allocate a user or station to the Ignored group for 'Always on' Internet access Defrag or Scandisk remotely, and without logging in. Syncronise Time across remote PC's Send Messages to remote PC's Watch users and be warned when they login Allocate a user or station to the IAM Managers group so that they can control their own group's application access with simple Red and Green Buttons. (ideal for teachers controlling their classroom) Get Attention Screen. Stop the distractions. Customise the 'The teacher requires your attention' message Full support for scheduling. Wake up or shutdown groups of PCs at a pre-defined time. Enable or Disable application access at predefined times.
  10. yes i think so, but would prefer not to have it installed....
  11. thanks for the suggestions both, I Will be testing Lanview on monday Looks pretty much te same as Lan Ranger So many the multiple logins can be done with script Now just the "Title Checking" which people say could be worth buying ranger alone for !!!
  12. ranger is up for renewal next month, we have a ICT that i hve been tested without ranger... We will really miss the following features of ranger: Title Checking - Closes appliation with words in the title Lan Ranger - can see who is logged on to and to what computer, log them off, reboot shutdown.. Restrict Multiple Logons - Kids / Staff can only log into one PC at a time.. Does anyone know of any applications that can replace these? Mainly title checking.. Cheers
  13. No spooler lockups for 3months Id say these new settings work
  14. Hi there, Its a purchased certificate that cant be changed.. DNS has the correct ip in the entry... It lookslike M$ in that link are having: The Service Connection Point object for the Autodiscover service The InternalUrl attribute of Exchange 2007 Web Service (EWS) The InternalUrl attribute of the Offline Address Book Web service The InternalUrl attribute of the Exchange unified messaging (UM) Web service All point to the same location? in there case: mail.contoso.com we have webmail.domain.com on our cert so i might try and change them all to the same... currently some are mail.xxxxx some are webmail.xxxx
  15. THINK I NEED AN EXCHANGE EXPERT ON THIS ONE !!! Hi, We have recently been trying to get "Outlook anywhere" working, previously Exchange 2007 internally and webmail from home has been working perfectly... But today after changing the "autodiscover" ip address in DNS, autodiscover seemed to start working..... BUT Now internally when anyone opens outlook they get the SSL certificate error: http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/8181/sslerrorxp5.jpg "The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site" We changed back what we had done and autodiscover still seems to work, but the SSL error hasnt gone away and wont !!!! In our certificate you can see we have: webmail.domain.sch.uk and autodiscover.domain.sch.uk.... Our mail server is called MAIL and the internalurl points to: http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/9425/setupml2.jpg Should we also have "mail.domain.sch.uk" in our SSL certificate? its too late now and would cost another 700quid ! But i cant work out why it was working fine before and now the error pops up? Can an exchange expert please help or suggest something? Weve tried reading through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726 but this looks too me like it is aimed at people who have their new SSL certificate and need to change the location of there URL`s to match the SSL instead of the exchange default, which is the FQDN..... Could it be as simple as us changing our internalurl to webmail.domain.sch.uk? Cheers in advance
  16. here`s a shot of our IIS setup, Am i right in thinking to get this to work that Eclispe (MLS.net) and Trackit should not be all be on the default website?? Cheers
  17. thanks for the replies... sounds complicated !! lol
  18. Hi all, Quick question, hope someone can help, I think its an easy DNS or IIS one. i want the users to just type "ePortal" in the address bar and it to \\server\eportal\index.jsp ? we have eportal setup as a vrtual directory, if this is possible, could we also setup maybe "Eclipse" to go straight to out library ? and also "Trackit" to go to another IIS virtual directory on the defualt website? Cheers in advance?
  19. Hi, I cannot seem to find out whats wrong here.... I cannot ping one of our computers when i add domainname.local on the end? It pings fine with just computername and fine with IP address? Its only a problem as there is a photocopier added to the machine, when users add the printer it always tried to add it as: printername.domain.local ?? thanks in advance ?? tried all the usuall, dnsflush/renew/release screenshot attached
  20. i have been using "Special Operations Software" its a free util that will start/shutdown/reboot/gpupdate all from right clicking the computer container in user&computers http://www.specopssoft.com/products/specopsgpupdate/
  21. 1) Create a new Group policy in the computer group. 2) Edit the policy and goto: Computer Config/Secuirty Settings/Software Restriction Policies, 3) right click and select "create new policy" 4) Leave everything default and click "Additional Rules" 5) enter: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings as a new rule with "Disallowed" as the security level. Gpupdate force and your done make sure that you leave the "unrestricted" as default in "security levels" or you will be blocking a whole load of stuff ! If there is anything i have overlooked please let me know.. Just also found out that kids are hiding files in the "shadow copies" not sure if these files would show up when scanning for a file type.
  22. we use panasonic ip cameras, they are pretty cheap 69.99 and the piucture is allright, they all link back to the recording software (£170) located on a server, Been really successfull, caught lots of kids doing stuff they shouldnt.
  23. we use ranger, you can limit the number of logons with a tick box The kids are all used to it, and have to walk back to log out if they forget.
  24. Samsung said that unchecking: "SNMP Status Enabled" (located in the port configuration) Will sort the problem in testing.......
