  1. Any generic ident client will work on mac/*nix. I used this one to set up our only mac and it works a treat: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28564&vid=275508
  2. I'm trying to slowly move to using USB sticks for our RM station builds. I've had success with booting the majority of workstations from USB but I only have two usb sticks to work with. The others are tied up for students to purchase or for staff to use. Has anyone got any old ones lying around that I could have? I don't care what size they are, bigger than a floppy and it's fine!
  3. It tells me I'm not going through a proxy too but my explorer.exe does follow the IE settings for our proxy.
  4. The external HD-DVD drive for the XBOX 360 works on any PC afaik.
  5. I always thought that explorer followed the proxy settings as defined in IE. Is that locked via group policy?

Me too. Our school has something of a history when it comes to hiring former students. My only qualification is A-level ICT which deals mainly with the business side of IT and...ugh...spreadsheets. Everything else I know is self-taught over the years so, in many respects, I'm very lucky to be here.
  7. Hmm, that was a bit of a long shot. It definitely looks to me like the firmware revision has changed but I couldn't begin to guess why.
  8. Are you sure it's the same AP? The hostnames are different even though the IPs are the same. Maybe something funky happened to the IP config. :?
  9. I heard from our RM reps that it's going to be a re-branded Asus EEE PC, they didn't let on what OS it'd be running though. I also hear it's going to be demo'd at BETT this year and is aimed firmly at students.
  10. Morning everyone, I'm Paul and I've been working for a Hertfordshire secondary school, my former school no less, for just over a month now. I'm 18 by the way and looking to study something IT-related at university next year. At the moment, I'm working as an IT tech so I deal with...well...pretty much anything that comes up, as you undoubtedly know!
  11. Oh yeah, there's nothing quite like a good, hard run to de-stress! I feel more energised at the end of a long day if I run, even if I was completely drained before.
  12. We've only got the one Smartboard here but I've found that, after updating the software, it has a lot less issues that the Promethean kit. Do any of the Smartboards require the use of a pen? Ours is an older model that you can control with a finger, should you so desire.
  13. I wish someone at RM knew that. Nobody could supply me with a download or disc, despite there being product lifecycle information for SP2 on their site.
  14. Well I checked and we're not using WSUS. Our only centralised patches are via RM's service packs, the rest are installed by running windows update on each and every client pc - it's not really ideal. Looks like I'll build a package myself in the meantime since we won't be rolling out WSUS until October half-term, at least. Thanks for the quick replies by the way, much appreciated. Paul.
  15. I'll have to investigate that possibility. I've only just joined the school so I'm still learning what systems we have in place.
  16. It's my first post here, so hi to everyone. We're running a CC3 network here with Office 03, no service packs. I'd like to update that so we're running SP2 at least. I'm wondering if there's an RM package available, tech support and sales drew a blank and so it seems I'll have to build a package myself. Has anyone got a package from RM at all?
