    Proxy Issue

Hi all i have been having similar problems with machines on my network. Machines running windows 7 when students login they cannot access the internet, when i look into the problem im finding that the proxy is missing. It never used to be like this, as all the preferences are setup in GPO, im worried something sinister is at play
  2. I've had a similar problem with new windows 7 machines desktops and laptops but its not user specific it tends to be machine specific. The only way I have got around it is to re image that specific machine
  3. Yep i find re imaging solves the problem, ive recently had a similar problem on some of our Samsung laptops running windows 7 professional 64 bit. So far re-imaging is the solution. wish there was an easy fix for this.
  4. Do you think it has anything to do with us going through the BgFl network?
  5. Machine key hasn't resolved the issue, unfortunately....
  6. Where abouts do I add the machine key script? I'm a novice at this. I tried adding the machine key into various positions in the web.comfig script but errors occur.
  7. The web page of the above error page is: =http://myfiles.al-hijrah.bham.sch.uk/hap/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fhap%2fMyComputer%2fH If I delete everything up to /hap from the address, I return to the login page (obviously) and can re-log in. It's a real pain!
  8. I get this error page as well, whenever I click something, it returns to the login page and the user clicks the back button: Server Error in '/hap' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL: 1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example: <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %> or: 2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application: Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode. Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. Stack Trace: [ViewStateException: Invalid viewstate. 9. OK, looking forward to your help. Thanks once again, Nick....
  10. OK. Thanks Nickbro? Would you like a username and password to log into our HAP? Or are you going to send me an edited config file?
  11. OK!, It actually does feel like a timeout. You can browse backwards and still get to files and folders, but when you click to download, it'll go straight to the login page. Then when you put your login details in, you are presented with the download prompt and then you can download. But them youo're stuck in a loop of logging in and downloading the same file! You have to close the files or click back a few times before resuming to normal access.
  12. Here's my config file. I haven't had a look at this yet. -------------- ---------------- I'm glad the hapconfig file looks right...
  13. OK, Nickbro, the error's come back!!! Please help (again!). Well, I'm not sure if it had totally gone. Teachers are free to browse without having to log in too often, but they still have to login more than once! Here is my hap config file: \\alhijrah-csvr1\users\secstaff\%username% \\alhijrah-csvr1\staffshared \\alhijrah-csvr1\subjects \\alhijrah-csvr1\classes \\ALHIJRAH-CSVR1\STAFFCOMMON \\ALHIJRAH-CSVR1\PRIMARYADMIN Do I still have 'bugs' in my file?
  14. Thanks Nickbro. It's solved the problem! Such as simple solution. I didn't realise we could only put one group in there, as I was editing the hapconfig file directly and not using the wizard. I'm very grateful to you, for sorting this out! Regards...
  15. Sorry, this is my HAP config file: \\alhijrah-csvr1\users\secstaff\%username% \\alhijrah-csvr1\staffshared \\alhijrah-csvr1\subjects \\alhijrah-csvr1\classes \\ALHIJRAH-CSVR1\STAFFCOMMON \\ALHIJRAH-CSVR1\PRIMARYADMIN
  16. If they try to access a mapped drive that they don't have access to, then it says ERROR: UNAUTHORISED ACCESS. But if they click on a mapped drive that they do have access to, then it let's them browse it, but not without having to log in through the tree of folders at some point! What do you mean by the /myfiles/ version? We run the basice version only and the user clicks My School Files or the Browse for files, on the right. Both eventually lets the user browse the files. Here is our webconfig files, below:
  17. Hi all, First of all, what a brilliant (free) service and blessing HPA+ is. Many thanks nickbro! I have a wierd and frustrating problem that I hope you all can help me with. All my users are able to log into my HAP 7.9 install fine. No problems. Interactive logon is set correctly all users can see all the mapped drives. My problem is that everytime a user clicks on a mapped drive or the My School Files or the Browse for Files icons OR browse back and forth through the folders in a mapped drive (or my HAP site) they are presented with the HAP LOGON WINDOW and have to LOG IN AGAIN and AGAIN! I'd love a solution to this! I'd be extremely grateful for your help. The users initially loved the access but are now getting frustrated with having to log in over and over again! Many thanks....
  18. Thanks. I agree with you all about placing shortcuts on the share. But doing this mid term will cause alot of problems with staff and pupils. More so with staff as they refuse to listen lol
  19. All this was already set before i came into the post so i dont want make any drastic changes if its already working. I will check that the permissions are cascading, which im sure they are. What i'd like to know is how did they get there in the first place. My inclination would be that these users who are MIS users thus are local admins also on their machines have access to their desktops. Maybe policy is bot applied correctly. Let's see how we get on.
  20. Hi I have the same problem, my server every few weeks shuts down, after reading the error report, i get a blue screen erorr. The problem is we have only just had this server installed about a year ago. Im really worried that this may be aserious problem. What steps should i take to try and resolve this isse? Thanks Aaqib
  21. Hi im running server 2008 at our school. It's the main DC. in the sysvol folder i have a folder which has shortcuts that are placed on the desktops. Recently 2 folders have been created which are named as 2 users on the domain. The problem is everyone now sees these folders on the desktop. Logged in as administrator on the server I can access the following folder: \\SERVER\sysvol\alhijrah.pri\Policies\curriculum\Desktop\Folders named as users When trying to delete the folders named as a user on the domain it says access denied error code 0x80070005 Access denied. Ive checked all the permissions for Domain Admin and they are all fine. Really need to get these removed Any advice is much appreciated.
  22. Also, Nick, How do I add the key that gets created by that link you sent us, into the webconfig file found in root of the hap folder? An example of where in the config file it should go would be great.
  23. I get this 'Validation of viewstate MAC failed' when I add 2 drive mappings in the 'hapconfig' file, 1 for teachers' home directory and 1 for pupils' homedirectory, AND both are mapped to the same drive letter! The shared folders are on different locations on the same server. But for some reason when I have the 2 lines added like this: mapping drive="H" name="Teacher's Personal H Files" enablereadto="AllStaff,Domain Admins" enablewriteto="AllStaff,Domain Admins" enablemove="True" usagemode="Quota">\\server1\users\secstaff\%username% \\server1\users\secpupils\%username% I get the mac failed error. But when I take the pupil one out, it works fine.
  24. Thanks Nick, And I've made all the changes and it works!!!! My teachers can browse their shared folders and home directory now. So we're all happy with that. However, we're getting this one asnnoying error that we have to clcik OK to, to browse the files. The error says: Unhandled error in Silverlight Application code: 2108 Category: InitializeError Message: 2108 an error has occured Any ideas, Nick? I have added the silverlight line in during the install... Once again, many thanks, Nick.
  25. Hi All, Because I always get 'Internal Server Error' whenever I try to make a config change via https://IP Address/HAP/setup.aspx, I found that just manually editing the hapconfig file in the App_Data folder does exactly the same job! So my question is, what should a final hapconfig file look like? I'd be grateful for a look at a working one. In particular: 1) How should the mapping line that you would otherwise edit in 'My Files' look like AND 2) How should the Active Directory User List look like that you would otherwise edit in 'Active Directory' look like? I know that I should really try and resolve the 'Internal Server Error' message, but I'd like to do this after getting it generally working, if you know what I mean. I have green ticks everywhere and yet I get the above error messages. Many thanks...
