We run Win 7 Ent x64 on all machines. I couldn't find any policy on the affected users that would disable print preview. The preview itself does work, allowing the user to choose pages, num copies, etc. and submit the print job. But then the print queue will only show: exampleprintjob.xxx - spooling But this only happens from Chrome. I've had to switch some to Outlook for printing as a temp fix.

bump? its...spreading.... now more users can't print from Chrome. I've updated Chrome and restarted the spooler and print server. Still no change.

Have a machine here that is unable to print from Chrome but all other apps are fine. Anyone else found this issue? Printing from Chrome results in a document - spooling message in the print queue and never progresses.

How was the move from Musac to Xero? I've been thinking about looking into this for our accounts since they have tight integration with the school's bank.

Yeah, this was obviously a bit of a whine and rant for me last year. I've dealt with having this vm wasting resources since but starting this year we migrated to a new physical box and had to do the reinstall. The docs Medtech supplied me were waaaay out of date and required specialized knowledge only their support team knew. Sadly, its one of those entrenched pieces of software that is in use at clinics (our local uses it too) and probably won't be replaced by anything better in the near future. I've been trying to get our accounts off Musac FM for years now, especially when I had to install a 32 bit OS just to run their software which we moved away from years ago.

Thanks for the response. I exported all the relevant certificates from our Watchguard (instructions) and imported into GPO. I believe though it led me to the correct cause of the problem being OCSP enabled on the Watchguard SSL inspection. If it checked the certificate was revoked then it did not allow the user on to the valid sites. Not sure why the cert came back as invalid still as the expiration date was years away. But thanks for the lead, Simplexion.

We've had a Watchguard XTM 500 series for a while now and we've made do with some basic filtering. We initially wanted to run the filter through a proxy to achieve deeper inspection but our student policies always balk at us when we do this. Chrome refuses to open most sites stating the server's certificate is untrusted (the firebox cert). Is there any thing to be done to correct this issue for this policy? It doesn't seem to affect Teachers or Staff who do use the proxy.

We've just installed our first 3D printer and Sketchup requires the STL extension to export for the correct format. It seems that any Sketchup extension requires the user to login, download, and then install. Has anyone had success with deploying extensions through group policy or scripts? Our student policy prevents users from installing software so the Google way does not work for us. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for the answers. These are 7982 models with a new ZD 3000, btw. I was hoping initially just to put the WAP in that building in Mesh along with the nearest WAP's to provide the bridge. It sounds like I'll either need to A) mesh the entire network or B) mesh the entire network and then disable mesh on a per WAP basis. Sounds like an experiment to be conducted during the holidays.

Hi all, I have an temp building for some classes that needs network access and was thinking about putting a ruckus wap in mesh to do this. While all i've read online so far is about the benefits and sunshine of mesh with Ruckus, the ZoneDirector gives me a warning that some feature will become unavailable if i enable mesh and can not undo this. The question is, what features would we lose?? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

My school has experienced the same issues with all our netbooks for years. The only solution I found was to, every few weeks, hardwire them and force the updates. This seemed to help the "no logon servers" issue. I'm revisiting these machines as the staff are becoming less and less patient with them. The time it takes to login and then attempt to open Office has become too much. I'm toying with the idea that the settings for the wireless network might be a cause of this issue. Not to hijack the thread but has anyone else had really long login times and has changing the authentication/encryption helped? i.e. switch from 802.1x EAP with WPA2-AES to just 802.1x EAP, open?

Thanks for the info but I believe we are getting away from the question. Will disabling the automatic password change using a regedit pushed through gpo prevent the trust relationship issue from occurring? Accepting your premise that it is caused due to a rollback during startup repair, would not disabling the password change in the first place prevent the error because the password pre-rollback and post-rollback would be the same?

Not sure quite where to post this as it relates to Win 7 but also to AD. Here's the situation, some of our machines on Win 7 will have trust relationship issues with the domain servers from time to time. This is mainly coming from our non-wired units. The time consuming fix right now is to connect them to a switch every week or two and force policy updates, etc. I've just stumbled across a MS kb article about disabling automatic machine account password changes (concerning sharing a computer account for a dual-boot machine, but that's another story) and was curious if anyone else ran across this similar issue that denies active user accounts access due to the trust relationship and if this machine password change would fix this? Anyone else getting saddled with creating/maintaining a dedicated server so your school nurse can keep basic data? I feel a bit irked that they have thrown this unto the school without any input from those they expect to cover the cost and do the work after they send their tech out to set up their software. It just finished another migration run and it spat out an error in the logs about being having insufficient access to pst files for this user. I followed the GAMME tool guide and created a user (GAMME_ADMIN) in AD and used the exchange shell to grant access rights. I did this and checked a few mailboxes in the console and looks like it is set correctly. It sounds like this could be the cause of the missing emails if it can't read them but how to correct it?

It seems a number of my staff have missing emails after I completed the migration earlier this week. The GAMME tool stated only about 8 emails weren't migrated due to errors but comparing the size of one teachers inbox on Exchange at around 6.5k items vs the GAMME estimated of 4k clearly shows something is off. Has anyone else ran into something similar? Appreciate the help as always.

welp...turns out a huge cause of my problems is that my KMS host I was using had a -10 minute time deficit. once corrected the time closer to reality, it went amazingly smooth on my test. uploading all my users now

Im running the exchange migration tool from my KMS host. The plan is to install the google apps for outlook msi to staff laptops and workstations to allow for syncing data after i've transferred our bulk emails, contacts, calendars. I've been testing with my own account and found the email folders only transfer with the @domain.com added to the username. And it failed when it came across an attachment of 7mb. Supposedly the tool will transfer attachments up to 25mb. So there are a few inconsistencies and I'll probably have to migrate users a few at a time to keep an eye on what fails.

if the users want to use outlook, you can deploy the google apps sync for outlook msi before switching. once the mx records are done and the upload complete you can have the users (or do it for them) run the sync tool and enter credentials to setup outlook for google apps. I've been looking for a better way to push default settings for Google apps to outlook clients but this seems to be only way. Unless someone can enlighten me, in which case i'd be grateful. good luck with the import. I'm finding multiple errors in mine but the planned switch over is next week still.

i've wrestled with this some more and finally discovered the issue. I kept attempting to use the tool from my Exchange server when it needs a machine with Outlook installed. I didn't catch that until I thought about trying it from my KMS server to see if it was an issue with the machine. (Exchange has been having issues hence the reason for migration) I feel like that was a bit odd to require Outlook when you can go straight from Exchange but there we are. Accounts are uploading. However, it doesn't appear folders are being moved across. From the Admin document I read for Google Apps it should sort folders and sub-folders into labels. The account I check just shows all emails dumped into 'All Mail'. Any ideas?

also, does the csv not need an identifying name for the single column? aka username?

Thanks for the info, antmanvolpe. I've removed the @domain.com from the csv but I'm still encountering an error during this part of the migration tool. I now just have: username1 username2 username3 and these should correspond directly to the users already loaded to Google apps. (I exported this list from our current mailboxes in exchange so i didn't miss anyone. but i've also tried a smaller group exported from Active directory.) does your school user an email client to access their new google apps hosted email? if so, how did you set those up?

I've just run the office scrub script and it seems to do a decent job. You can specify what you want to remove as a parameter so in this case just call the script: cscript offscrub03.vbs OUTLOOK like so and it should be sweet. I created a gpo and made a batch file to copy the vbs to local machine and run.

I'm trying to sort out a migration of our exchange server over to google apps for education and I'm unsure how to proceed. Currently, I've had Google Apps setup for our school for years but not many have bothered to take it up. This year, due to our Exchange servers age and low disk space, I'm going to migrate it over but not sure how this will affect the end user. I've configured the Google Apps directory sync for all my users so that is sussed. Google Apps password sync is still a bit of a problem due to a network error when connecting for authorization but I think that will be cleared up when we switch off our ISA in favor of a UTM in a couple weeks. So it comes down to Exchange now. I've tried doing a mail migration with the tool provided by google but it always fails when trying to verify the .csv of users to migrate. I'm guessing I am missing some information about what is acceptable and what isn't. Would anyone have a better example or more knowledge of the parameters/fields? As far as I know it should just have [email protected], no first name or surname etc. so it would look like this: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] And once that is done, how has everyone converted their email clients to Apps from Exchange? I'm not sure if there is a GPO I can use to redirect the Outlook clients to google's servers or if I need to use the migration tool (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/outlookmigration) on each machine/account. (Btw, the tool doesn't cover Office 2013 yet which was what I was going to upgrade to since I was having to do all this work anyway. Having second thoughts about it now and may just upgrade to office 2010.) Any help/suggestions are appreciated.
