Ah well it was worth a try, seems to have worked for quite a few others.

Did you try this from the Capita Sims.net Exams Forum... Open the results file with Notepad - the first line will end with 12. Change that to 11 and then save the file. It should now import into SIMS without problem.

Use Assessment Manager, Individual Report...design the word template to contain the aspects you're describing, such as KS2 results and current Yr 7 achievement. Then you can add a graph by right clicking in the word template and using 'insert graph'. I've been working on this but so far my graphs aren't very meaningful

Did it yesterday morning. Appears to have gone ok here too. Tested on a second test environment server first and it seemed ok. Went on to apply on live server and it seems ok too. Very scary doing it this close to exams download. Although Exams seem to be fine with the results today.

Like everyone says - don't buy new - 2yrs old is good Organise your own finance to take the confusion out of the equation - they're less likely to be able to rip you off. Get your own loan and go with the 'cash' - then you can get a good deal. If you find something you like then always haggle, ask for new mats or something to close the deal.

Can you use the FMS setup from S:\Sims\Setups\FMSApplicationSetup.exe ??

This is fixed now. Most strange that somehow this server had an IP address from the network but had no network connections. So many of the services wouldn't start. It seems that this was caused by a windows update. Tried all the tweaks and fixes out there to no avail. What did work like a dream was repairing with the Windows Server 2003 CD although this did need the Dell USB Key F6 Driver Utility with the SAS Raid controller drivers.

I already tried this, along with registering two other dlls. they register fine and still don't bloody work. Thanks

I can't restart the netman service even from a command prompt, it times out and fails. Then it says 'starting' and the only way to end it is from the cmd line again. Also one of the COM service does the same. Although Plug and Play etc. have started just fine.

I agree with Synack too, I tried all those things to no avail. I don't think there is anything of note in the Event Log apart from what you'd expect whe you have no network connections. I wondered if IIS had messed up settings in the Domain Controller Security Settings (I read that it can change the properties of Impersonate a client after authentication) and take out your network connections. Any ideas would be welcomed.

Started installing WSUS again, seemed ok. After a reboot of a Windows 2003 server, the server was not connecting to the network. Also, the server took a long time to get past the "Preparing Network Settings" screen. It seemed to be at least 5 minutes to get past the Applying Network Settings screen on startup. Once the server was started, if I look in the Network Connections folder, there were not network adapters. The Network Connections service was hung on Starting. Lots of errors in the event viewer, but they were all because the network components were not started. I went through Microsoft KB 825826: "How to troubleshoot missing network connections icons in Windows Server 2003 and in Windows XP", but had no luck. Any ideas anyone?? Thanks Jacqui

Yes we use it, on the whole it's fine. More problems as a result of teachers not marking the register correctly than anything. Their server doesn't go down much at all really. Fair comment about it occasionally losing proxy settings etc.

Lots of cloth bags, sweets and a light up bouncy ball. The embossed oranges were cool, although I didn't get one. Baseball caps on the Fluke equipment stand, if you're into that. Sad, but my favourite was the 'Sims Quick Reference Guide' with deskstand ....I'll be photocopying that and giving it out to teachers who ask me questions I don't have time to answer.

It's all about stereotypes, isn't it really! If you're not an 18-25 male with spots and glasses then you can't work in IT. I do not fit into a stereotype and people find that difficult sometimes. Bottom line is that the way to change things is to set an example. At first I was insulted by the 'Look Sir she's fixed it!!!!!!' and the disbelief of staff. But then when you think about it you're making headway with people, particularly kids, changing their ideas about what sort of person IT techs can be. Encouraging kids to think about their choices of career by setting an example....maybe they can do anything they set their mind to. Happy winter holiday

I think your experience is very unusual. I have been a female IT for 5yrs now and I am always the only woman on courses etc. Maybe it's a regional thing?

Also there's nothing on Supportnet about this. I post only in emergency situations!!!
