I hear an awful lot of these. The single linking factor appears to be people buying stuff from PC World or its associated companies.

I'd be interested to know, too, because I just can't see how doubling your hardware replacement costs can save you money.

I did the same as you, downloading it and not really getting in to it, so I took it off. Then I went back and went through the tutorials to get the hang of it a bit better, and now I'm quite in to it. It is cartoony, but it's good fun. Over the weekend I tried, for the first time, to get to grips with the flamethrower-wielder, who I'd never liked. Once I mastered it it was a scream and I was (for the first time) the highest scorer on the server. That was quite a buzz. So it's always worth going back and giving these things another go.

The old computers go to a local charity who refurbish them and sell them on. I pull the hard drives before I take them there, and beat the hard drives to death with a lump hammer. Therapy and charity in one happy box.

It's the way he's being portrayed in the media. Or more accurately, the way he's being portrayed by the Guardian and its pet broadcaster, the BBC. Gove's saying that headteachers should have the power of sanction, and they should. It is not right to take kids out of school. But part of the reason that parents do it is that they know that kids do very little in the last week of term, so what's the point in keeping them in? Teachers have made a rod for their own back.

The new engines (56 plate onward) are better. I can get 45mpg around town, which gives me 500 miles on a standard tank. If I'm doing distance driving I'll get 50mpg+, or 550 per tank.

Funny that nobody's mentioned the Ford Focus. Heaps of space, cheap to run and service. For £5,000 you'll pick up an 05 plate diesel focus with plenty of kit.

The recipes in there are easy to follow and come out perfect. I've made my own pakoras, naans, bhajis and chutneys and pickles as well as curries using the recipes in this book. There's no reason for anyone to ever buy packet or jar sauce again. The key to the tikka masala is that you need to barbecue the chicken chunks on kebab skewers before you add them to the sauce, which you will need to cook slowly for an hour or so to allow the flavours to mix. And to get that glossy look from the sauce, a minute or two before you serve, add some thinly sliced butter (proper butter, not spread or marge) and stir it in slowly. PS - that link takes you to the paperback version. If you can get the hardback one, it's much easier to work from when you're in the kitchen.

If it's any help ThinkGeek (ThinkGeek :: Stuff for Smart Masses) has bacon everything - croutons, popcorn, salt, soap, jellybeans. They do a bacon-patterned wallet. They like bacon more than you.

Depends how it's smoked. Supermarket 'smoked' bacon is often just a smoke flavour mixed in with the brine in which the bacon is cured. Proper smoked bacon - where the bacon is dry-cured and smoked over wood - tastes very different.

Not really, no. It's certainly entered socialist mythology that the reason the Tories won the '83 election was the Falklands War, but the reason they won was that Michael Foot and the Labour party were so unutterably awful in every possible way. Thatcher didn't provoke the Falklands war in order to win an election, as a reading of her autobiography - and the history of the war - shows. I think it should be up to the people who live there who runs their country. I also think that should apply to the UK, but ISTM that politicians aren't quite so keen on asking the citizenry of the UK that particular question.

If you're running Win7 there's no need to reinstall every year. It's not win98. Just run CCleaner to clear up the registry and clear temp files and you should be good to go.

I'll be 36 in April and I still feel like I'm 21. I still like loud music and fast cars and beer and whatnot. At least, I feel like I'm 21 until the morning after, because then instead of feeling fresh as a daisy I lie around for 36 hours feeling like death warmed up. Agree with the idea that Goodwin was a scapegoat. Goodwin is a monumental *word* and deserves, in a moral world, to suffer horribly for all the thigns he got wrong, but this wasn't about who got it right or wrong, it was about putting someone's head on a pike to silence the Guardian/BBC.

At £80 a pair, I'd expect those wellies to be effing EPIC. I'd expect them to fly me across the mud to my Range Rover.
