  1. Yeah I would actually. It's hard to see in the picture but this particular model has a lovely 'distressed copper' coloured bezel mount. It's really nice. It's shocking that they sliced the leather - did they compensate her? FHinds are our local Kahuna stockist and they don't have all the range but the cuff watch range is lovely - I tried several of them on and could have bought all of them but wanted the wide cuff one. It's really comfy. The face markings are also copper coloured which are lovely. The picture shows it sort of yellow bronze but it's not, it's a lovely pinkish shade of copper. The wide leather bit is printed not embossed though but it's still lovely. I also tried This one: http://www.kahuna.co.uk/products/womens/cuff/kls-0225l/ and http://www.kahuna.co.uk/products/womens/cuff/kls-0220l/ this one and loved them both. I really wish I could have bought them all. I would certainly buy a Kahuna watch again. LeBoyfriend bought a velcro one years ago for work and he's gone through about 6 straps and 1 battery in the time I've known him and the thing is still going strong. (Basically this: http://www.kahuna.co.uk/products/gents/velcro/252-3602g/)
  2. Last time someone gave me some money for my birthday I bought a watch. This one, as it happens: Kahuna
  3. Am I the only one that thinks the 1950's glass blowing set sounds awesome? When I did chemistry at A-level I had a lot of fun accidentally nuking various bits of glassware. I melted more than one boiling tube and several glass stirring rods and there was a particularly memorable explosion one day in Organic chemistry when the side of a stoppered beaker in a closed condensing system perforated... Yeah that was fun.
  4. Me-ow. No need to be catty about it. Yeah, rubbish website but as a concept and as a way of creating a sweet reminder of a beloved pet it is considerably better than taxidermy. Posting that pic of Truffie bought tears to my eyes. I still miss her nearly 2 years on.
  5. In the pottery section they say they can try to paint it with your cats markings so I imagine the difficult bit is choosing which pose. I'd be interested to see a picture of your cat sculpture.
  6. I figured it was judicious use of filters tbh.
  7. Enzo is still going strong but I'd love one of my beloved Truffie
  8. I had no idea this was a thing! OMG! That really is a lovely way to memorialise a beloved pet and much less ghoulish. I wonder if you could ask the potter to seal your pets ashes inside in their little casket?
  9. I was nearly brought to tears but not really out of laughter. I found them all incredibly sad. I find taxidermy generally very sad even when done well but poorly done taxidermy just makes me feel desperately sorry for the animal in question. I need to go look at some pictures of my cat to make myself feel better now.
  10. I'd use caution though: http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B000KKNQBK I just looked up Inguinal Hernias. Ouch.
  11. Yeah. Not to mention the cringe factor of the nurses turning up with a bowl of water and some soap. I'd defo do it yourself if I were you.
  12. Honestly having used EMLA (the numbing cream) a few times it doesn't actually help and makes things worse. It has a tendency to collapse the veins so they struggle to get the needles in right and it aches like you wouldn't believe. IMO you are actually better off without it and that is coming from someone who has literally screamed and thrashed and climbed the walls (funny story for another time). What I will say though is that they don't exactly give you a menu of 'how would you like to be knocked out', you actually have to ask which is why it's important to speak to the Anaesthetist and Surgeon, explain your fears and be very firm about expressing what you DO NOT consent to. I still wish I'd made a formal complaint about that rude man - he really hurt me and I was sobbing when I came to. If you expressly ask for the gas and expressly state that you do not want to be concious when they put the canula in I am sure they will accommodate you. If for no other reason than wanting to avoid law suits and complaints etc. Also, bit of a gross tip but make sure you clean your bum - scrub it good and hard in the shower as they MAY tell you they will give you a painkiller suppository. Depends on the operation. When I had my wisdom teeth done I obviously couldn't eat or drink anything after the op for fear of disturbing the sockets so.... well you know what I mean. I remember being absolutely paranoid about people looking at my bum (sometimes you fixate on the weirdest things when you're frightened) so I went a bit crazy with the scented wet wipes (yeah irrational I know). It is likely that you'll be really sleepy for a few days after the op - I really think a lot of it depends how long you're under. When I had my wisdom teeth done I would randomly fall asleep for days afterwards but when I had another abscess operated on it was quite a quick op so I was fine.
  13. Depends on where you live but usually DPD or Parcelforce. I'd say 3/4 of my parcels are delivered by DPD. I've had a UPS delivery too.
  14. Almost? It's a decisive factor for me! Here's hoping they don't make 'Amazon delivery' the defacto for Prime. Yodel couldn't deliver sand to a beach.
  15. I have to disagree with @dom - I was very nervous and had the following three experiences: 1) Very nice Russian bloke, agreed to use a local anaesthetic before putting the canula in. Didn't feel a thing. 2) Horrible man who ignored me and used 'cold spray' REALLY hurt. 3) Nice lady who put me out using gas and air before putting the canula in. So yes, you CAN have the canula put in after the gas and air. Don't let them push you around - there are options and if you are afraid they can do lots of things. It's worth saying though that I've had issues having blood tests for years and have always used EMLA cream and the drawing of the blood has always been really painful - made my whole arm ache. I recently had to have a whole bunch of them (I might be going under again soon...) and CBA with the EMLA faff and the ache. I asked them to use the little yellow butterfly needles and didn't feel a thing (although I still fainted). I remember waiting for the ache and asking the nurse if the blood was flowing and she said 'beautifully'. I then said 'Oh, that doesn't hurt at all. It's really not so bad' then I fainted. LOL. To be fair, one of our local clinics has a dedicated phlebotomy team and you call up and book a slot. None of this going to Godzilla at the local GPs for us.
  16. Well it must be fake - there is no gum stuck on the underside of the desks.
  17. WHY? Why would they do such a thing? The minute prime goes over to using Yodel I will be cancelling my subscription.
  18. London Docklands have a Premier Inn I think. There is also a Crowne Plaza - really nice place very short walk from DLR and the Emirates cable car too Crowne Plaza London Docklands - London
  19. You will turn up at 7:00 - you can go alone or take someone but you can't drive home so you'll need to make arrangements to be collected and for someone to stay with you. They will book you in and give you a backless nightie to wear, some forms to sign and so on. You should meet the Anaesthesiologist and surgeon and can ask them questions - make sure they have the right details in the notes - last time I went for day surgery his notes had the wrong information - it said right instead of left. I nearly hit the roof. Make sure you are happy before they put the canula in your hand. A nice anaesthetist will take time to talk to you about your preferences and you CAN request to be put out by gas and air. Don't be pressured. I've had 3 day surgeries and the experience with the anaesthetist makes all the difference. 2 were great - wonderful experiences and one was a horrible rude man. If you are afraid of the needle you CAN ask for gas. It smells of fake plastic strawberry but it's the last thing you'll remember lol. You'll sit around in your backless nightie for a while until it is your turn for surgery where they will arrive to wheel you down either on the bed or in a wheelchair to the anaesthetic room. They'll do the anaesthetic and the next thing you know you're waking up. They will probably keep you around for an hour or two for obs, might make you eat something. I react badly to GA and my blood pressure drops like a stone so we always request a fluid drip or I faint everywhere. Once they are happy with you you sign a release form and go home.
  20. I used to do that but I enjoy the variety and spontaneity of having them choose it for me. Plus the chocolate and fruit infused sultanas are lush
  21. I have a Graze account too so I've got voucher codes and stuff if anyone wants one. - - - Updated - - - I have a Graze account too so I've got voucher codes and stuff if anyone wants one.
  22. I love Prime. It's brilliant. I'm less enthusiastic about the LoveFilm side of it and it really irks me that you can't sign up for the 'modules' separately. I guess it's how Amazon are recouping their losses after the acquisition. I have installed the app on my phone, tablet and Xbox but when we went to view something there was nothing on there we either wanted to see or hadn't seen before. Even so, despite the exorbitant price rise I will still pursue my prime subscription next year because I use it SO much and there is a little known 'Amazon Family' aspect to prime that you can sign up for that gives you 20% discount on Nappies and other baby-related accessories so when LeBoyfriend and I start our family it will come in handy and the ability to have free next day delivery on everything I buy is brilliant. Amazon customer service isn't the worst in the world either. I will say this though (and for me this is a decisive factor): If you select next day delivery, your parcel will be sent by DPD, ParcelForce or UPS. So it will actually get to you. If you don't, it might go via Yodel. So you might not get it at all. For me, the DPD delivery is worth £79 a year given the amount of stuff I buy on there. - - - Updated - - - I love Prime. 23. The bullet one is horrifying. I loved the way the cracks propagated in the glass one. - - - Updated - - - The bullet one is horrifying. I loved the way the cracks propagated in the glass one.
  24. I'd accept that in the event that melting occurs, however when using White Crayons with, say, deep purple, you DON'T get light purple. You get smeary deep purple. I tried. - - - Updated - - - I'd accept that in the event that melting occurs, however when using White Crayons with, say, deep purple, you DON'T get light purple. You get smeary deep purple.
