  1. This. I'm the same. I have a spreadsheet for our Joint account for the household bills but my own personal account could use better management. I'd love to use this software but I installed the demo and found that to use the cloud application you have to have DropBox. Really. I loathe when applications demand other application dependencies to work. I've uninstalled for now but it's so enticing!
  2. Never used it but I DO have my own budget spreadsheet I use. I did try to use budget software once but it was pre-smartphone and was a pain to administrate. I really want to install the demo now!!!
  3. LOL I get a lot of FB ads for stuff I find really painful or offensive to look at - lots of stuff on Animal welfare and abused animals. I really don't want that on my feed. It upsets me. Lol yeah but these were attention seeking 'Talk to me' statements. As for song lyrics Ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yeah. I never got that either.
  4. LOL really? Aside from the eye-hurting theme of the page I thought it was at least coherent. Although claiming that being encouraged to resign because she growled at customers like her werekin self was discriminatory and oppressive is beyond special snowflake. What really frightens me about that feed is the level of terrifying hatred and incoherent ranting about gender oppression. It's so hypocritical.
  5. Sorry. Can't respond to this blatant trolling attempt. Brain still stuck on 'My friend is a vampire who doesn't eat normal food so doesn't have an anus' and how talking about excretion is 'triggering' for him and how people mentioning excretion is 'ableism'. I mean WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F.... *headdesk* Don't get me wrong, I'm all for freedom of expression and all that but how does that even work? It's not physically possible for any living organism of any description not to excrete in some form or other and don't start on the whole 'undead' thing because regardless of whether you consider yourself alive or dead, if you eat ANYTHING it takes up space in the body. Therefore you CANNOT continue to eat without excreting in some capacity otherwise you would literally be too full to eat after you'd consumed X volume of Y food.
  6. WHAT HAVE I JUST READ? http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/500x/51870068.jpg
  7. No, indeed, and for the large part the problem is less the 'Oh look at the fruit of my loins' than how it affects me, which is entirely my 'fault' as it were. But I reserve the right as an individual to be annoyed by this appearing in my Facebook feed and I reserve the right to be hurt by the constant knife in the back. I'm thrilled for my friends that they are succeeding in achieving their life goals, I just find it painful to look at. A lot of the issue is not WHAT but HOW. I have plenty of people on my feed that post about their children and events in their life and these don't bother me as much as the in-your-face-drama-llama who gives all and sundry a blow-by-blow account of everything from her digestive transit issues to that time the foetus got hiccups. Assuming your whole audience is enraptured by you and your progeny is as obnoxious on Facebook as it would be in the middle of a Supermarket. I know, right? How come I get the boring guff about how ickle widdlekins managed to get mashed rusk in her hair but not the fact that [Friend] quit their job and is working as a Rollercoaster Guinea Pig in Florida now?
  8. I don't think that was what I was saying at all. I don't think it hurts to be considerate of how others might feel about your posts. I know there is a school of thought that says 'It's my wall I'll post what I like, you don't have to read it', but just the same as you wouldn't talk about some things in a public place, why is Facebook any different? If it's cruel to mock someone in public why is it okay to do so on Facebook? I'm very mindful of what I post on FB mostly from the 'What-if-potential-employers/customers-look-me-up' perspective but also because there are things I'd LOVE to say. Grievances I'd love to give air to that I'd LOVE to shame certain people publicly in front of my Friends and Family because they deserve to know what this person did and all this pussy footing around makes me irrationally angry. This woman DESERVES for all the family to know the full story of what she did. Her crime is despicable but my Mother and Uncle have chosen to keep it private meaning that other family members don't know what she's done. The problem with doing that though is that it will inevitably lead to innocent people being hurt. So I DON'T. I don't post about it. The majority of my posts are pictures of the animals, house-related stuff and the occasional opinion on current events. I choose to censor myself out of consideration. I don't think it's unreasonable to dislike those that don't. I'm not dictating what they can post about but they should understand that the things they say might hurt someone. If they're happy with this then let them get on with it, but I think more people should examine the consequences of the things they post before they post them. I don't think that is what I was saying at all. IVF works for some people and not others. Some people want to go to those lengths and others (like myself) are afraid of the consequences (it's worth pointing out that the horrific migraines I suffer put me at increased risk of Stroke and Brain Damage so they may not actually LET me have IVF). I don't think I could adopt. I know a couple who adopted and the eldest boy is very challenging. Kudos to him and his wife but I couldn't cope with that stress. You didn't cause upset just as I wasn't saying STFU so I'm not sure why the snark is here. But when you have trouble conceiving you get a lot of oft-repeated well-meaning advice, anecdotes, stories and happy-endings. Lots of 'keep your spirits up it will happen for you, it happened for us', but ultimately these are totally meaningless. Just as every couple and every person is individual, the struggle they face is individual too. It's helpful to know others are feeling your pain but the bottom line is that eventually it will either happen or it won't and the experiences of others has no bearing at all on the outcome of this, it just cements the 'I'm broken' feelings deeper into your psyche. Of course if you moan about it on facebook then you invite these kinds of comments so really it's a bit of a catch-22 tbh. It's funny - it is only thanks to Facebook that I managed to reunite my Father with his estranged Father (my Grandfather). It can be a useful tool in moderation. You can't prevent people from being annoying on Facebook any more than you can prevent them being annoying in a public place and large amounts of the time I spend on Facebook are spent hiding annoying posts I don't want to see and hunting around for stuff I DO want to see. I don't think their 'feed settings' work properly though as I often want to see updates from people and never do, even though I know they've posted. So how does Facebook determine what is an 'important' update vs what isn't?
  9. I own a Black Cat so I posted a pic of him to the page hoping he'd get illustrated either as a devil cat or as one of the Bobcats but he didn't get picked Which reminds me actually - another Facebook peeve is the 'Ransom demands' 'If I can reach 1000 likes my parents will buy me a new toy' or 'Something amazing happened. Like this post if you want to know more. If I get enough likes I'll tell the story'.
  10. LOL yeah theoatmeal.com illustrated some Facebook photos as part of a book promotion/1 Million Facebook likes and stipulated 'no baby pictures': I illustrated some photos from Facebook - The Oatmeal very funny.
  11. No, I imagine she was hedging her bets in case she lost it early on - it's very common so until she reached the 3 month mark I imagine she was just playing it safe. To be fair 'filling a pot' is considerably less unpleasant than the stuff us ladies have to go through. We've been trying for nearly 2 years but I don't want IVF because I'm afraid of a) multiple pregnancies and b) As a hormone-related migraine sufferer subjecting myself to the 'omg my brain is exploding' pain is not worth it when there are Cats in the world that need a home. If it turns out we can't have children I shall fill my heart with cats. LOL Yeah or when someone posts a picture of their baby and all their other friends are calling it a precious angel and a beautiful girl/boy when it looks like this: http://s3.amazonaws.com/theoatmeal-img/blog/million_likes_photos/baby.png One of my FB friends has two children and they haven't exactly been blessed with angelic looks and I think of this every single time I see yet another 'Aren't my children pretty' post from her.
  12. Then on the flipside you have others who 'accidentally' got pregnant and moan about it, or find out they're having a Boy when they wanted a Girl and inside you're like 'I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR TWO YEARS YOU UNGRATEFUL B***H, HOW DO YOU JUST ACCIDENTALLY RANDOMLY GET PREGNANT!!!!' or 'I'd settle for ANY baby right now - Boy or Girl'.
  13. Some of the worst offenders on my feed are close friends or family. I got so sick of cousin Sue's sanctimonious finger wagging that I unfriended and blocked her. I'm sure next time I see her at a family event I'll get the usual whiny interrogation. So many of my close friends have had babies/are pregnant that it's a minefield for me. I want to install that 'get rid of baby pictures' app but I can't because I need to keep up to date on these people otherwise it makes things awkward. We're go-to-each-others-houses-and-socialise friends with a professional photographer and she's always posting promos for her baby cake smashing thing. Ack. My facebook posts are usually cat pictures (my own cat), Rabbit pics (my own Rabbits) or the results of various crafting efforts with links to the pinterest pins as I know most of my friends and family are into that sort of stuff too and I like to share good ideas when I find them. Ironically I find the 'Share this post to raise awareness/if you agree/disagree with something' posts to be annoying too. I'll form my own opinions and keep them to myself thanks.
  14. LOL I think insufferability is a matter of perspective - for example, I can't stand pictures of babies covered with food. It makes me physically gag. Yet people insist that posting 9 pictures an hour of their child covered in unidentifiable gloop is 'cute'. Or this 'cake smashing' trend that seems to have appeared where people PAY photographers to take photos of their babies in cute outfits smothered in smashed cake. Excuse me while I go vomit. That being said, when you're struggling to have a baby yourself, your feed is FULL of the pregnancy announcements, the scan pictures, the new baby pics, the happy grandparents. It's a knife to the heart every time. I'm very quick to unfollow these types of people:
  15. I don't know about the Iiyama touch screens but I have an Iiyama flatscreen monitor on my home PC I bought years ago and it's brilliant. I've never had a single issue with it. If I were looking for a monitor I'd definitely consider another Iiyama.
  16. Natural selection at work.
  17. Too many homeworks made of Wikipedia?
  18. Ha ha 'Invisible Bilbo Baggins Action Figure'.
  19. Good luck finding an Aldi store that has anything good left - every time we try to get their 'special offer' stuff it's all gone I could do with one of these to keep track of my Cat's night time wanderings - he's hilarious. He'll start the night in his bed or in ours (depends on the weather - hot = ON our bed, cold = his bed, very cold = IN our bed - we daren't move in case we squish him.) then at some point he'll disappear outside, then he'll come back in and walk all over us, then he'll go out again, then he'll turn up about 10 minutes before I leave for work being all cute and kitteny in an attempt to stop me leaving for work. He's decimated the local Chaffinch population - he's single pawededly wiped out the entire brood of a pair of Chaffinches nesting in him-over-the-back's garden.
  20. I'm always leery of ANY service where I have to leave my car keys with someone. I have HEARD that if something happens to your car, you gave them the keys so your insurance policy doesn't cover it and how many places hand you a copy of their liability insurance? I don't even use valet parking. I hate it. Maybe I'm a control freak but I don't trust how other people drive and park. I'd much rather take my car through a 'chain' car wash (like the ARC ones) as I know there is a company behind them I can direct legal issues to if their equipment wrecks my vehicle by doing non-standard things. As for the inside, well, LeBoyfriend works for a Ford franchise and when their valet owes him a favour he'll take my car to work and I'll get a wash and vac. Keeps it in good nick. If I want it sparkling I'll do it myself.
  21. Honestly, I'd go LG all the way. We have an LG in the lounge and it outlasted my sister's Samsung twice over. We also have an LG soundbar to go with it.
  22. Yeah I read back and saw that, although genetic tests generally done with only a saliva sample aren't exactly accurate given the bacteria, food etc that is in our mouths at any given time. A pinprick blood sample might be more accurate perhaps? Go back far enough and we ALL come from Africa and we ALL have 'bits' of other human species in us. Not sure it's exactly revolutionary. Personally I'm far more interested in tracing the actual people in my history. I'd love to trace my lineage back to the 15th and 16th centuries and see what my ancestors were doing during the reign of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
  23. I'm not sure they're really a 'gift' as they're more aimed at determining whether or not you might develop cancer or something. I wouldn't want to know tbh. I'd rather live my life and take each condition and problem as it comes. A 25% chance of developing late onset Alzheimers is still a 75% chance of NOT and this might be affected by whether or not you live long enough or whether your 0.2% increased chance of developing pancreatic cancer might get in first to finish you off. Sounds a bit Daily Fail-ish to me but to each their own and all that. I wouldn't want to get one as a gift though.
  24. No but what if the Sims system is going external? Sophos link checker does this - it might be a 'local' application but goes out to teh intertubes for various reasons.
  25. 407 is Authentication failure. You need to find out what domains it's accessing and add them to Authentication Exceptions. You'll probably find that the behaviour report is 'calling' a web domain somewhere. Stick the client IP in your web filter logs and look for the domain it's accessing.
