From a quick look, you don't need the \ before menus in append... And verify that the path to main.cfg is accurate. I'll put UBCD on mine tomorrow and share the config file.
-
Have you added that file to the boot directory for the correct architecture? (see Common Problems - Syslinux Wiki) my boot/x64 looks like this so you might be able to spot any missing files
-
I've just moved WDS to a new server and done exactly this, I followed the instructions here to setup WDS with a PXELinux menu, you can add anything you like then including UBCD. Mine currently looks like this

Exchange 2010, new domain name / SSL / MX
pleach85 replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Enterprise Software
No problem, you might want to update your HELO/EHLO on any receive connectors you've got too (server conf -> Hub Transport -> Receive Connectors). -
Exchange 2010, new domain name / SSL / MX
pleach85 replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Enterprise Software
Sorry, I've overlooked something. You will also need to update Exchange with new URL, the below technet article tells you how to do it. I would run the get commands first ( i.e. get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory | FL ) and document the output just in case you need to revert. Exchange 2010, new domain name / SSL / MX
pleach85 replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Enterprise Software
Locally you shouldn't need any MX records. Try browsing to https://mail.newdomain.com/owa and see if it's working... you'll get an invalid SSL warning, but that will obviously go away when you assign your new SSL. -
Exchange 2010, new domain name / SSL / MX
pleach85 replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Enterprise Software
Sounds to me like your MX records are sorted now so you can move on to your dns records Create a new forward lookup zone mail.newschool.county.com and create a host A record with a blank name and the internal IP of your mail server. Update your external DNS so that mail.newschool.county.com points to the same IP address as mail.oldschool.county.com did/does (this might have been done by county already) You should then be able to browse to OWA using your new external domain name, once you've checked you can assign the new SSL certificate. -
Try the following @echo on xcopy "\\SERVER-IP\IT\Software\Necessary\SchoolNameApplication\SchoolNameTrayInstaller.exe*" "C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\" /y TIMEOUT /T 1 "%userprofile%\Desktop\SchoolNameTrayInstaller.exe" I don't think you need start or call, plus I find %userprofile% is better than C:\users\%username% but if that doesn't suit your environment ignore me!

I would start by looking at your Receive Connectors, have you got multiple connectors using the same IP and port? Are there any disabled ones that shouldn't be?

Just a scary moment adding ADMX templates for Office 2013
pleach85 replied to Jaan's topic in Windows Server 2012
Sounds like you didn't copy the current ADMX templates from your DC (they should be in C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\) to your new central store. -
You could use icacls, it wouldn't allow you to copy and paste permissions but you could certainly create a bat script which will set permissions you want a folder and then set that script to run on all the computers. It is quite a powerful cmd though and I would recommend lots of testing first. If you've never used it before Managing Permissions from the Command Line might be an article worth reading, it's afew years old but will give you an overview of the cmd so you can see if it's suitable.
-
I've used powershell for this before, not sure how it would handle subfolders but you could probably script it using get-childitem get-acl $folderToGetPermissionsFrom | set-acl $FoldertoSetPermissionsOn
-
Sorry that's not working for you. I've tested on ie 10 and 11 and seems to be working fine for me. My ProxyOverride reads this;that; (the always appears at the end... might be important!) I can only suggest setting it up as you want it to appear and then export the ProxyOverride regkey.
-
If you add to that list you already have it should tick the box.
-
I think this is what you are looking for [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings] "ProxyOverride"=""

Have you got googlevideo.com unblocked in your firewall too? Youtube sometimes uses that URL.

Script to delete appdata sub folder content for multiple users
pleach85 replied to cragos1984's topic in Windows
I would use a powershell script running as a scheduled task on the server hosting the users appdata. $rootFolder = "E:\users" $adobeLocation = "\AppData\Roaming\Adobe" Get-childitem $rootfolder | where {Test-Path ($_.fullname + $adobeLocation) -pathType container} | % { Remove-Item -Recurse -Force ($_.fullname + $adobeLocation) } Obviously will need testing in your environment but should do the job. -
You might also need to update the dns global block list depending on the server(s) running your dns Removing WPAD from DNS block list
-
Just change your target to C$\ and you've missed the T in Target when doing the robocopy. You might also want to look into using the /R and /W options in robocopy /R:n :: number of Retries on failed copies: default 1 million. /W:n :: Wait time between retries: default is 30 seconds. If you leave them set as default you will be waiting a while if the computer you are copying to is turned off.

you could try adding commandtimeout = 10000 to your connect.ini if its not already there seemed to help in this similar post http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2000-2003/44608-upgrade-sql2005-express-error-executereader-requires-open-available.html (see 2nd post)

To solve the last problem in your list you can use Get-WinEvent -ComputerName "$fqdn" -FilterHashtable @{ProviderName="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing"; ID="4624"; Data="C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe" } -MaxEvents $me instead of Get-WinEvent -ComputerName "$fqdn" -FilterHashtable @{ProviderName="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing"; ID="4624" } -MaxEvents $me | where {$_.message.contains("C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe")} By having Data="C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe" in the -filterhashtable it will only return events with "C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe" in them, therefore the whole | where {$_.message.contains("C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe")} is no longer needed and $me can be the total number of proper logon events you want returning. Speeds up the code too as powershell does not need to parse each event looking for "C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe".

Chrome "New Tab" custom shortcut
pleach85 replied to this_is_gav's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Don't know about the book marks thing but I have stumbled across this https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/2714278?hl=en Looks like you can create your own private apps and deploy them out to chrome on your network. Might try this myself! -
Yeah, an array is a collection of items. The items in your array ($events) will be WinEvent-Objects as that's what you are putting in. Its these WinEvent objects that have all the information you need in them (TimeCreated, Messages etc). You can put any object into an array (string, int, another array, ...) it just so happens you're putting WinEvents in which contain alot of information you can extract later in your script.
-
Rather than extracting them both separately and trying to merge them back together you'll be better off making an array of events then using a foreach to extract all the information you want from that event something like this... $events = @(Get-WinEvent -ComputerName "$fqdn" -FilterHashtable @{ProviderName="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing"; ID="4624"} -MaxEvents $me) foreach ($event in $events){ #You can do all the manipulation of the event here using things like # if ($event.message -contains "winlogon.exe"){ DO THIS} $fulllog += "----------" + $event.timecreated + "----------`r`n" $fulllog += $event.message + "`r`n`r`n" } This way you're only running the Get-WinEvent once and you are able to extract and modify all the information you want from the event then add it to your log in the foreach loop. Hope this helps!

I tend to set a variable DQ to chr(34) (Double Quotes) and then use that in the run command. Using """ caused me problems too! Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" ) DQ = chr(34) Wshshell.run (DQ & "\\\Sysvol\\scripts\printer\staff Printers.vbs" & DQ)
